While there has been much said about remakes ruining childhoods, not even the worst remake/reboot can top a bloody horror movie set within a classic children’s story.
This time, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey director Rhys Frake-Waterfield has set his sights on everyone’s favorite boy who refuses to grow up: Peter Pan. The film will be called Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare.

That means that all works after a certain point lose their copyright status and anyone can use previously copyrighted works however they wish without having to pay. Winnie the Pooh entered Public Domain early this year, and the book version of Peter Pan either is currently or will be soon. The latter is a bit messy considering there is a book and play by J.M. Barrie.

A new Deus Ex title is reportedly in the works at Embracer Group's recently acquired Eidos-Montréal studio, albeit one that's still said to be in the "very very early" stages of development.
That's according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, who made the claim in a tweet accompanying today's news of Square Enix Montréal's closure.
Although no additional details on the project were shared, this would seemingly be the first known instance of a major Square Enix IP being revived under Embracer Group's watch since it acquired the likes of Tomb Raider, Thief, and Deus Ex - plus Square Enix Montréal, Eidos-Montréal, and Crystal Dynamics - as part of a $300m deal in May.
Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will finally release for the Switch later this month, and it’s definitely looking like the most ambitious entry in the series yet. Nintendo has just dropped a new TV commercial and overview trailer for both games, which you can check out down below:

For fans of the 2016 romantic fantasy anime, Your Name, you might have been keeping a close eye on what’s going on with the live-action remake. After all, trying to deliver on a beloved property can be a tall ask, and now, we finally know that director Carlos López Estrada is stepping up to the plate.
As confirmed by Variety, Estrada will be assuming directorial duties with an initial screenplay by Eric Heisserer, who has previously written for both Arrival and Bird Box. Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams will produce the film alongside Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen, and joining them will be Genki Kawamura, who was a producer on the original.
Estrada’s previous work includes the animated film Raya and the Last Dragon, which garnered a nomination for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards, as well as music videos for artists like Billie Eilish and Katy Perry.
The original Your Name film centered around two teenagers, Mitsuha Miyamizu and Taki Tachibana, who share a profound, magical connection upon discovering they are swapping bodies. Things manage to become even more complicated when the boy and girl decide to meet in person, with a destructive disaster and time travel in tow for good measure. Putting together gorgeous visuals and relatable storytelling, it became a modern classic in Japan.
For the remake, it too will star the same teenage country girl and city boy, and “when a disaster threatens to upend their lives, they must journey to meet and save their worlds.” The distribution of the film will be handled by Toho in Japan, while Paramount will be responsible for the US and international markets.

As of right now, Minecraft is currently on version 1.19.40. This latest revision adds new improvements and bug fixes to version 1.19, the last proper new update which was released in June as Minecraft: The Wild Update.
The Wild Update added plenty of new content to this massively popular game. The biggest new addition was two new biomes known as the Deep Dark and the Mangrove Swamp, each of which includes new blocks for you to mine. It also added three new mobs; the dangerous Warden and Shrieker mobs, and the friendly Allay and Frog mobs.
As far as version 1.19.40, nothing new has been added to the game this time around. This particular patch is focused solely on polishing the gameplay experience even further. If you’re looking for even more new content, you’re going to have to wait until version 1.20, which is set to be released next year.
The new Ghibli Park has just opened in the Aichi Prefecture, on Honshu Island in Japan. While it can certainly be argued that Studio Ghibli’s more recent works have been rather lackluster, the studio’s earlier projects continue to cultivate a dedicated fan base even today.
As expected, several Japanese media outlets have covered the opening of the park, attracting tons of Studio Ghibli fans and cosplayers. Today Square Enix released a new trailer, artwork, and a large gallery of screenshots of the upcoming JRPG Octopath Traveler 2.
First of all, we get the introduction of two characters, Partitio the merchant and Osvald the scholar.
Partitio’s ability involve buying precious items from NPCs and hiring different people, who can help in battle.
On top of that, the people you hire will also have different effects on gameplay as they basically become your business partners. Some let you purchase items at a discount and occasionally even free, while others are excellent mercenaries.
His potential allows him to accumulate BP that you can then unleash all at once. On top of that, you can also provide them to your allies.
Moving on to Osvald, he can get information from NPCs, but you only have a chance to succeed and if you fail, your relationship with them will deteriorate. You can also steal items from enemies if you defeat them.
His “Preparedness” unique ability lets you detect one of the enemy’s weaknesses at the start of each battle. He also can unleash powerful magical attacks concentrating all of his magic on a single target.
Incidentally, we also see that there are moments in the story in which the characters’ stories cross and they act together. Osbald and Partitio have one such moments.
More new features showcased today is the ability to use canoes to freely explore water locations, also including dungeons.
Last, but not least, during the story, you’ll be able to obtain your personal ship. You can use it to travel between continents and sail freely across water bodies, also reaching locations not accessible to regular boats.

Every week, Second Dinner introduces a new location in Marvel Snap to help mix things up. This week, the new Featured Location is Machineworld, and the location effect is as follows: When you play a card here, add a copy to your opponent’s hand.
Unlike Bar Sinister, which fills the entire location with the card you played there, this location is much less intrusive. However, it does create some interesting deck possibilities that revolve around your opponent’s hand size.
Right off the bat, some initial ideas that come to mind are something like Squirrel Girl or Angel in a Death-focused deck. These aren’t particularly powerful cards, but by playing them there, you’re forcing them into your opponent’s hand, and if they reach the maximum hand size of seven, they’ll be forced to play Squirrel Girl and Angel if they want to continue drawing from their own deck.
This doesn’t just disrupt their draws, but also forces them to clog up their own board space. On the flipside, if you’re running a Death deck, you can always clear your side of the board with a Killmonger, though you’ll want to do so before they actually drop their Squirrel Girl and Angel.
Alternatively, Machineworld could also work in tandem with Subterranea, which is one of the most hated locations in Marvel Snap. Playing rocks in Machineworld will fill your opponent’s hand with dead draws, which is always a plus. It seems like this location could lend itself well to Ronan decks as well. While Ronan is pretty lackluster right now, a deck that focuses on maxing out your opponent’s hand size could work wonders.
Today Level Infinite and Hotta Studio revealed a new simulacrum that will be made available in the sci-fi MMORPG Tower of Fantasy.
The new character is named Saki Fuwa, and she’s the captain of the special security forces of the new cyberpunk-like city of Mirroria.
She fights with a pair of Katana and her style is very fast yet graceful. She’s also a bit goofy, which never hurts.
Saki Fuwa will be added to the game on Nov. 10.

Darkwood is a lot stranger than I expected. I was drawn to it by the promise of no jump scares - I wondered whether a horror game really could resist the urge to suddenly surprise me, and if it couldn't, how it could scare me. It also happened to be Halloween so I wanted to be scared, and Darkwood had just arrived on PS5, so the um, pumpkins aligned.
But now I feel misled. Not because Darkwood isn't scary, or because it uses jump scares - it has surprised me a few times (maybe there's no getting away from this in horror), though not enough to suggest it leans on this as a scare tactic. But because reducing Darkwood to a conversation about scares misses so much of what I think it's about.
Darkwood is deep - surprisingly so. It's surprising because the top-down, retro presentation - it's quite like Hotline Miami but without the lurid colours - and the base-defence set-up make it feel quite simple. You've played this kind of game a million times before. Find wood to barricade windows. Find fuel to power a generator. Craft things. Keep the lights on, keep the enemies away at night.

The Oregon Trail will appear soon on Windows PC and Nintendo Switch. PC players will be able to get it either through the Microsoft Store or via Steam. While there is no concrete release date as of yet, we can expect to see it at the end of November 2022.
The Oregon Trail is actually a series of games, and the first one came out in 1971. It is a mostly text-based educational adventure game in which the player assumes the role of a wagon leader of settlers. Your goal is to travel from Independence, Missouri to the Willamette Valley. Not only does this help to teach skills such as resource management and decision making, but it also helps to educate the player on what life was like for the 19th century pioneers.
There are also mobile titles from the franchise. For example, Gameloft released The Oregon Trail HD for mobile devices in 2010, and another one for Apple Arcade in 2021. Though the different versions of the games all follow the same basic plot, there are some differences in how they handle mini-games or presentation.
The Oregon Trail will come out for the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC at the end of November 2022.

Sony is ramping up the hype for its upcoming Norse epic God of War Ragnarök with some pretty eclectic marketing.
Yesterday, we got to see Ben Stiller leading a group therapy session with John Travolta, LeBron James and their children, and today we get to witness Japan's newest Ragnarök trailer.
This trailer is an upbeat little number complete with its own (quite catchy) song and dance routine. The parent in me likens it to Australian children's music group The Wiggles, but with weapons added in to give it that bit extra. It is quite something, and I sort of love it. Sony released its financial results for the second quarter of the 2022 fiscal year (Q2 FY2022). In the three months ending on September 30, 2022, it saw a new sales milestone for the PlayStation 5. However, Sony financials also revealed a decline in its gaming-derived profit of nearly 49%, despite growth in overall revenue. Similarly, while revenue from the PS Plus subscription service grew, the service's membership population dropped by nearly 2 million subscribers.
According to its Q2 FY2022 financials, Sony has sold over 25 million PS5s as of the beginning of October. During the quarter it sold over 3.3 million PS5 units globally, almost exactly the same number it sold during the same quarter last year. Revenue from those sales, however, was up by nearly 12% to 727 billion yen (about $4.93 billion USD), partially due to a price hike enacted in some regions. Profit from its gaming division, however, was down by nearly 49%, thanks to rising costs. Major contributors to those costs include the $3.6 billion USD acquisition of Destiny 2 developer Bungie, as well as rising development costs. For the overall Sony Group, however, profit was up about 8%. Stronger performance in music, imaging (for camera sensors, etc.), and other parts of the company offset the declines in games.
The English-language version of Type-Moon's visual novel Witch on the Holy Night (a.k.a. Mahoutsukai no Yoru or Mahoyo) is available to pre-order. Product pages for the physical PS4 and Nintendo Switch Limited Editions went live on Amazon. The Amazon product page lists a release date of January 27, 2023, several weeks after the digital release set for December 8, 2022 [Thanks, Wario64!].
PSN Store and Nintendo Switch eShop pages are also not yet live. The Limited Edition of the game includes a special "Magician's Basic Tune" art book and a collector's box. The Limited Edition is priced at $59.99 USD on the Switch.

A playable demo of Witch on the Holy Night is also expected sometime in November. The Twitter account PSN releases, which updates when new products are added to the PSN store, noted that a "Trial Version" of the game was added to the North American PSN catalog. Toby Fox, creator of Undertale and Deltarune, uploaded a new song titled “Skies Forever Blue.” This was created in collaboration with Itoki Hana and OMOCAT. Toby provided the music and lyrics, while Itoki Hana performed the vocals and vocal arrangement. OMOCAT made the music video and art. Other people who worked on the video include Jules Conroy (FamilyJules) and SmallBu (SmallButera).
Itoki Hana sang “Wa -cycle-” which was the ending theme of The Ancient Magus’ Bride. Meanwhile, OMOCAT is the indie studio that developed and published Omori. Omori is an RPG that came out in 2020, with eventual ports to platforms like the Switch . The music video has a lot of retro video game vibes, which is reminiscent of OMOCAT’s work in Omori.

The MCU has a lot of different directors, but they often end up having similar visual styles. There are very few dyed-in-the-wool Horror directors (save someone like Sam Raimi) and few MCU directors who stand out wildly in the MCU’s unified aesthetic. Atomic Heart, the BioShock-esque shooter set in an alternate reality's Soviet Union, will be released this February.
More specifically, the game will hit PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 21, 2023. Developer Mundfish and publisher Focus Entertainment announced this news in a new and bloody gameplay trailer showcasing more of what to expect in the game early next year.

While Atomic Heart is doing its own thing, it's hard not to compare it to the BioShock series given the whole alternate reality thing, the types of guns on display here, the enemies we'll be facing, and the hand-controlled powers.
An upset Call of Duty player has sparked criticism for turning up in-person at an Activision Blizzard studio to try and get their Modern Warfare 2 ban overturned.
Writing in a now-deleted post on reddit (thanks, PC Gamer), the first-person shooter fan stated they had been stopped by a security guard after entering the car park of the company's office in Austin, Texas on Monday, 31st October.
The fan says they "politely" asked to be let into the office to complain about their "wrongful" Modern Warfare 2 ban, having spent $140 on a special edition version of the game. The fan was refused entry, and told to wait for customer support to resolve the issue.
There's a The Last of Us board game in the works.
This project comes from Themeborne, which is known for its Escape the Dark series.
Themeborne will be working closely with The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog on the upcoming release, with its Kickstarter campaign kicking off later this month.

Proposal four, submitted by Boston Common Asset Management and Impact Investors, concerns the ethics of how the US government uses Microsoft's technology. Proposal five, submitted by Harrington Investments, cites the potential impacts of being involved with development of weapons for the US military.
Both proposals include statements made publicly by Microsoft employees about their disagreement on involvement with military contracts.
Few games are bold enough to require co-op. Fewer still go as far as to obscure an entire half of the game from the other player, meaning the two people playing need to constantly communicate in order to grasp what's going on. The Past Within is one of these games. It separates two players across two timelines, one in the future, one in the past, then presents them with a series of puzzles they cannot solve without clues from the other person's present. Only when solved, will the shared story move on.
The Past Within's fundamental use of two players means it's a game someone cannot review alone, so we didn't try to. Instead, Matt Wales and Victoria Kennedy paired up and here, collectively, in dialogue format, is what they think.

EA's latest financial results have revealed a 10 percent rise in sales for FIFA 23 compared to last year's entry, while the series' popular Ultimate Team mode seeing a six percent rise in players.
FIFA 23 is the final footballing game from EA to feature the famous FIFA branding. It will also benefit from modes reflecting the upcoming 2022 and 2023 World Cups in Qatar and Australia/New Zealand. The first of those arrives next week for all major platforms except Nintendo Switch.
EA previously boasted FIFA 23 had been a "record-breaking" release for the series, hitting 10.3 million players in its first week, making it the "biggest launch period in EA Sports FIFA franchise history".
The next instalment in the mysterious Rusty Lake puzzle series arrives today, and it takes things in a different direction than past games. A time-travelling conundrum that requires one person to play in the past and another in the future, The Past Within is the series’ first co-op puzzler.
