Call Of Duty: Mobile Adds Black Ops Characters

4 years 1 month ago

Season 5 of Call Of Duty: Mobile content is arriving soon, and with it come two newly unlockable characters from the Black Ops series. Black Ops 2 protagonist David "Section" Mason and Black Ops 3's war robot Reaper will be available on the Battle Pass from April 1.

David Mason is the son of Alex Mason, who was made available in Call of Duty: Mobile in the second season Battle Pass. The two acted as dual protagonists in Black Ops 2, with the main story split across two timelines.

Reaper is one of the nine Specialists from the more sci-fi-leaning sequel Black Ops 3, an experimental war robot who shows signs of sentience.

Persona 5 Royal: How To Unlock The New Palace And Semester (Spoiler-Free)

4 years 1 month ago

Persona 5 Royal adds tons of new content, chief among them is the new third semester that also contains the ninth and final palace, all of which happen after the events of the original game. But it's possible to miss all those features entirely if you don't meet certain requirements. It's an absolute must to see all the game has to offer, so here's everything you need to do to unlock the new content, as spoiler free as possible.

The gist of this is that you need to rank up three separate Confidants to certain ranks before specific dates. Some of the ranks are gated by certain days and events, and if you don't rank them up by then, you'll miss out on extra gameplay and the new, major story arcs. We have everything detailed below.

Goro Akechi (Justice Confidant)

First, let's start with Goro Akechi, the Justice arcana. In the original Persona 5, Akechi's Confidant arc was tied to story events and was unmissable, but in P5R you choose to spend time with him. You'll first meet Akechi in early June when you take the class field trip to the TV Station. This is an unmissable story event that kicks off rank 1.

Now modders are using Half-Life: Alyx to get Half-Life 2 working in VR

4 years 1 month ago

Last week, the Half-Life community's attempts to translate Valve's new VR extravaganza, Half-Life: Alyx, to the flat screen showed very early promise. And this week, another portion of Half-Life fandom is approaching the problem in something like the opposite direction, attempting to turn the seminal, and distinctly non-VR, Half-Life 2 into a VR game, using Alyx as its foundation.

This isn't the first attempt to translate Half-Life 2 into VR, of course - an extensive VR overhaul, promising to deliver "updated effects, textures, models & maps" reemerged in 2017, having started life four years earlier - but this latest effort takes a rather different approach, porting Valve's original game into Alyx's VR-enabled Source 2 engine.

One enterprising modder, known as Vect0R (who's also spend time digging up unused Half-Life 2 content and producing a real-time raytracing mod for the game), has made enough progress - converting map files and assets to Source 2's format and adding them to Alyx - to be able to show off a little bit of a VR shooty-bang-bang run around a very old-school City 17.

Dead or Alive 6 Will Get its “Final” DLC This Month

4 years 1 month ago

Koei Tecmo’s fighting game Dead or Alive 6 already had four season passes, but apparently it won’t come close to Dead or Alive 5: Last Round’s record.

Today Koei Tecmo announced via Twitter its plans to release two DLC packages in mid-April alongside update 1.22, but we also learn that they will be the last.

The new DLC costumes will be part of the “revival” series. That indicates costumes recycled from the previous game and repurposed for 6, sold outside of the season passes.

To be more specific, we’re getting the High Society set and the School Uniforms set.

As mentioned above, this will be the “final” set of DLC, even if online features and the store will still remain available.

New Cyberpunk 2077 Wallpaper Shows V's Metro Commute

4 years 1 month ago

CD Projekt Red has released a shiny new Cyberpunk 2077 wallpaper featuring protagonist V chilling on the Night City metro, as a riot unfolds on the station outside. Aside from giving fans a tantalizing taste of a game that's still almost six months out from release, the poster is full of tiny world-building details just waiting to be discovered in high resolution.

The new Cyberpunk 2077 wallpaper shows the game's protagonist V on the city metro.

The new wallpaper gives us a better look at the metro, the city-wide transport system that players will be able to use to travel around the city's districts.

The main details of the picture are immediately obvious--V, sitting nonchalantly with his gun out, a sleepy businessman beside him. Behind him, the people of Night City clash with heavily armored Arasaka employees. As one fan on Reddit pointed out, the helmets on the police look like a callback to the Nilfgaardians of CD Projekt Red's Witcher series.

Muv-Luv Series Gets New Official Website, Stylish Artwork for Muv-Luv Alternative Anime, and More

4 years 1 month ago

Today aNCHOR opened a brand new official website for its popular Muv-Luv series.

The website is available both in Japanese and in English, and it includes a rather extensive introduction to the Muv-Luv worlds, its games, and additional products like manga, books, and more.

We also get a handy timeline in English, which you can find in the gallery at the bottom of the post. Considering that the setting is rather complex and branching, it’s good to have a visual guide.

The site also includes news like the shift of the content scheduled for Comiket to an online event, with a questionnaire for Doujinshi circles (only in Japanese) which would like to take part in such event, titled Comikeaid.

Last, but not least, we also get a teaser page for the recently-announced Muv-Luv Alternative anime, including two stylish pieces of artwork (portraying a Type-00 Takemikazuchi TSF) that you can enjoy in the gallery.

Xbox Live, Game Pass Seeing "Record Numbers" Amid COVID-19 Crisis

4 years 1 month ago

As more and more people stay home, either voluntarily or by government order due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Xbox Live gaming network is surging in popularity. Microsoft said in a post that Xbox Live, Xbox Game Pass, and Mixer are seeing "record numbers" as people spend more time playing games while adhering to social-distancing policies.

The message, which was first reported on by VideoGamesChronicle, also states that Microsoft is making "small adjustments" to ensure a smooth experience for users during the spike in usage. One of the adjustments is the removal of the ability to upload custom gamerpics for your profile. Not only that, but you can no longer upload pictures for club backgrounds.

This change is only temporary, so these services will return at some point in the future.

Fortnite V12.30 Update Arrives Very Soon

4 years 1 month ago

Fortnite has another update coming as Chapter 2, Season 2 continues on into its second half. While Epic Games is holding with their tradition of not releasing patch notes, there is some speculation about what update v12.30 will contain.

Last week's 12.21 update added new challenges and rewards, as well as bug fixes. It's likely that v12.30, being a more major update, will add more in the way of new content.

Fortnite's community Trello board also gives us an idea of what bugs are being addressed in the new update. Cards marked as 'fixed in next update' include issues with the Harpoon Gun catching loot inconsistently, as well as problems with Auto Pick Up. Also marked for this update is a bug with Spy Games where players would get stuck at the "Select Tech" screen. An issue with tournament scores displaying incorrectly in the lobby and in-match will also be addressed, as well as a number of minor issues with Creative Mode, Save the World and mobile versions of the game.

Have you played… Hades?

4 years 1 month ago

Time to go get killed again...

Wielding the almighty Heart-Seeking Bow, Coronacht, I weave with godlike alacrity between the attacks of my foes, line up the shot, release at just the right moment, and – pop! – they dissolve with a sigh back into the underworld from whence they came. I’m clearing out rooms in record-breaking time, and it’s a good thing too, because the infernal contract I signed with my father, Lord Hades, means if I spend too long in any particular region of the underworld then there will be swift and painful consequences.

And then I dash into another flame-filled area of Asphodel, and I’m halted in my tracks. Any notion of haste falls out of my mind. Because there is Eurydice in her chambers, singing her beautiful, haunting song. And, like every other time I’ve come across this particular room in Hades, I stay still and listen until the song is over before continuing in my quest to escape. I don’t want her to think I’m being rude, after all.

Advertisement: Atlus Tunes Up the Next Amazing Entry in the Persona Franchise

4 years 1 month ago
Partner Content By AtlusAdvertisementAtlus Logo [poilib element="accentDivider"] If you missed out on Persona 5 the first time around, it mixes striking visuals, bizarre dungeon exploration, occult themes, teenage hangouts, and a high-school social simulation into about as strange and stylish a blend as you can imagine. You play the down-and-out, misunderstood juvenile delinquent known by the Phantom Thief name Joker, drawn by a series of unlikely events into the Metaverse, a fantastical world between dreams and reality. Dubbing their Metaverse alter egos the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, Joker and his pals swear to challenge and change their corrupt society by donning masked disguises and delving into the hearts of Tokyo's criminals, represented by dream-like "Palaces" containing aspects of the criminals' twisted psyches, to change them for the better. Or at least make them confess their crimes in dramatic anime fashion. That's enough to keep any would-be hero busy, but in Persona 5 Royal the Phantom Thieves must juggle their nighttime exploits with attending school, building relationships, and hangin' out around Tokyo, including in a brand-new entertainment district called Kichijōji.

Persona 5 Royal review - both better and worse than the original

4 years 1 month ago

It's a great intro: protagonist Joker darting along the casino roof, quick like a shadow. Making fast work of a handful of enemies while leaving others in the dust, his black coat swishing behind him. The excited voices of his team mates over the intercom as he's almost reached his goal, but then! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! He's surrounded!

The first sequence of Persona 5 Royal acts as foreshadowing and tutorial all wrapped up in one, showing you everything you will regularly be doing in each dungeon you crawl through - jumping between platforms and squeezing through ducts to find a way forward, hiding away from enemies or ambushing them when they're not looking. Most importantly, in round-based combat you unleash Persona, manifestations of parts of Joker's psyche who can use different elemental attacks, healing spells and stat buffs. Persona 5 Royal also adds a grappling hook to your arsenal, which you'll mostly use to find shortcuts and additional treasure.

Joker and his friends, regular students at Shujin Academy in Tokyo, one day stumble into the Metaverse, a parallel reality that manifests Palaces where people live out their worst desires. There's also Mementos, a sprawling maze of randomly generated dungeons. The group of high schoolers enter these palaces to steal people's treasures, causing them to let go of harmful desires and confess their crimes.

A cat picked this week's hero pools for the Overwatch League

The Overwatch League casters, hosts and players alike are all holed up at home for the time being, with matches taking place online while the world waits for the Covid-19 pandemic to run its course. It seems like cabin fever is starting to set in though, as this week they’ve adopted a cat into the analyst’s panel to decide on the hero pools.

It went about as well as you can imagine.

Good Job review - a proper little delight

4 years 1 month ago

I have waited so many years to hear the right words. So many years, not even knowing what the right words are, or what form they will take. Now I have heard them: Deliver a Big Cube. Okay, not the exact words I was expecting, but they will do. They will do nicely.

At the start, it's a small cube. A small cube of pink space-jelly or something, lurid and wibbling in a lab. I pick it up and drag it. Its flesh, to quote General Sternwood, is too much like the flesh of men. It squidges along the floor behind me. Just an office worker taking a cube for a stroll.

But when I run over pools of pink goo, the cube starts to draw them up. It starts to get bigger! More pink goo! I need more! I start to hunt it down, clumsy now because my small cube is no longer a small cube, and is actually fairly awkward in fact. Walls shatter. Wheely chairs go flying. Equipment is upturned. No matter! The cube drinks. Eventually I find a vat of the goo stuff - three storeys high. Turn the valve, plug in a pipe, let it spill everywhere! The cube erupts into its final size, a true monster. But still so light and jelly-like to drag. Into the weighing machine and off to whoever requested a big cube. Delivered, mate. I hope they love it as much as I did.

Mount & Blade 2 is promising, but its performance issues are too serious to review it yet

4 years 1 month ago

Mount & Blade predates RPS. That’s how long we’ve been waiting for its sequel, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, which released yesterday afternoon.

I had hoped to have some basic impressions ready last night, but that wasn’t possible, because whatever else I can say about this open world medieval(ish) combat RPG, it’s completely overshadowed by technical problems.

Artifact 2.0 won't sell you cards

4 years 1 month ago

Artifact‘s developers have given up on selling people cards. When the closed beta for Artifact 2.0 kicks off, you’ll have to earn every single card through playing – no market, no packs. Stingy pricing was just about the only thing holding the game back for me, so, hurray!

It’s part of a big relaunch. Valve have also mentioned some changes they’re making to the game itself, including allowing “players to access all three lanes at once”. That’s pretty wild, too.
