Neptunia x Senran Kagura crossover RPG announced

3 years 3 months ago

In a collaboration set to rock the foundations of the very galaxy itself, Compile Heart has announced that goofy adventure series Hyperdimension Neptunia is getting set to crossover with cheeky cheesecake franchise Senran Kagura for a brand new, sword-and-sorcery, action RPG.

As revealed by Famitsu, the succinctly titled Senran Nin Nin Ninja Taisen Neptune: Shoujo-tachi no Kyouen is currently in development for PS4, and is tentatively scheduled to launch in Japan later in 2021. An expectedly silly premise sees two ninja schools - one trained in the art of "Command" attack and the other in the art of "Action" attack, combine forces when the land is invaded by a mysterious third school of unknown origin, kicking off the world-shaking "Super Ninja Wars."

Phasmophobia Gets a Big Update that Makes Ghosts Even More Aggressive

3 years 3 months ago

Phasmophobia quickly became a horror sensation when it released on Steam early access late last year, and Kinetic Games is still pushing out updates to make it even better. A couple months back, a beta branch was released that would allow ghosts to actually hear player voices and track them based on that. The official update is out now, and it makes quite a few tweaks to increase the game difficulty.

For starters, here’s how the ghost AI works now:

  • The ghost will now follow your around corners if it has lost sight of you rather than searching a random location.
  • The ghost will now listen for player voices when hunting and will search those locations. This will not work if you are not the banshee target.
  • The ghost can now open lockers and closets outside of a hunt.
  • The ghost will now open doors, closets and lockers during hunts. This can be stopped by holding the door however the ghost can still walk through room doors like usual.
  • Slightly increased the ghosts chance to wander on all difficulties.
  • The ghost will now search around the location it last saw a player rather than searching a random location.
  • The ghost will now target any player that gets close to it whilst it’s already chasing another player.

In addition to that, Professional difficulty changes also make the game a bit more challenging:

Watch Dogs: Legion Multiplayer Mode Delayed on PC, Tactical Op Missions Delayed on Consoles

3 years 3 months ago

Just a couple weeks back, Ubisoft announced that the online multiplayer mode would be releasing for Watch Dogs: Legon on March 9. It was originally slated to come out in December 2020, but was delayed till early this year. However, it looks like Ubisoft’s going to need some more time to work out some issues that have cropped up.

For starters, PC players won’t be able to enjoy the online multiplayer mode until a later, unspecified date. Over on Twitter, Ubisoft stated that there were issues that caused the game to crash for players on certain GPUs, and they’ve decided to hold off on launching the mode on PC until it’s stabilized.

There’s no word on when that could be, though Ubisoft promises to provide more details at a later date.

In addition to that, the Tactical Op missions will be pushed back to March 23 on consoles as well due to crashing issues, and there will be “limited text chat” on PS4 and PS5.

Persona 5 Royal Getting Gorgeous Makoto Niijima Queen Figure by MegaHouse

3 years 3 months ago

Persona 5 Royal is certainly very popular, so it’s not surprising that Japanese figure manufacturers are portraying its characters more and more.

Megahouse’s brand Lucrea is releasing a rendition of best girl Makoto Niijima in her Queen version.

It’s currently available for purchase on Ami Ami for 15,180 yen, which translates approximately into $140.

It comes additional parts to give you options for face (with and without masks) and arms.

The prototype is sculpted by Inui and painted by Ekoshi and stands about 230 mm tall.

The lead time isn’t as atrocious as for many other figures. Megahouse expects to ship Makoto in late September 2021.

You can see what she looks like below. Incidentally, this follows another Persona 5 Royal figure from the same brand, featuring new character Kasumi.

PMDG 737 For Microsoft Flight Simulator Likely Getting Progress Update in 2 Months; TF-104G gets New Video

3 years 3 months ago

Third-party developers are continuing to work hard on content for Microsoft Flight Simulator, including aircraft and scenery.

We get a note from PMDG, which is working on developing its 737 add-on package on Microsoft Flight Simulator. This is a very complex study-level add-on, so it’ll take a long time to release, but we should get a progress update in a couple of months.

“I don’t have any guidance change on the 737 moving to MSFS yet- but I am likely going to show you a progress update there in… two months or so? Timeline is a bit spongy- but the 737 is taking longer than anticipated. The folks at Asobo are champions and they take time out of every working day to engage with us, offer suggestions and map out changes/fixes that we need in order to move PMDG products into the MSFS platform. I cannot speak highly enough of the Asobo team- and once we clear a few more hurdles I hope to be able to show you what their input has meant to PMDG’s version of the future simming. 737 for MSFS is still a long way out- but…”

Next is a video from SimSkunkWorks featuring the sound of its TF-104G Starfighter.

Xbox Series X/S Is Getting an Upgraded Browser That Can Play Google Stadia

3 years 3 months ago
Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles will soon be getting a new upgraded Microsoft Edge Chromium-powered browser that is capable of playing Google Stadia. As reported The Verge, testers in Xbox's Alpha Skip-Ahead group can now access this new version of Edge, and while it still doesn't have full mouse and keyboard support and is a bit buggy, it appears much better than the current solution. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/12/17/the-biggest-games-coming-in-2021"] One benefit of a Chromium browser on Xbox is allowing it to work with browser-based streaming services like Google Stadia and Amazon Luna. Additionally, even though Xbox consoles have native access to Xbox Game Pass, this could theoretically also allow for Xbox's Cloud Gaming through a browser once Microsoft adds support for it in Spring 2021. Furthermore, this should allow for improved compatibility with browser-based games and services like Skype and Discord through the web. This early version also includes the same or a similar sync engine used on Edge, which allows for extensions, vertical tabs, Collections, and most other featured found on Edge's desktop version. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-best-games-to-play-on-xbox-series-xs&captions=true"] While Google may have shut down Stadia's internal studios, the streaming service is still running and is set to get "more than 100 games" in 2021. Assassin's Creed Syndicate Has The Best Ending Of The Series

3 years 3 months ago

When I think of Assassin’s Creed games, I often remember big cities, cool assassinations, climbing tall towers, and maybe some sea shanties. Rarely do I remember how these games end because they often have forgettable or boring endings, sometimes with bad boss fights. So Assassin’s Creed Syndicate stands out as an…

The artwork showcases four outfits that appear in the opening video and are actually available in the game, Allaia Quartz, Viola Marill, Mates Quarter, and the Di Giant set of CAST parts.

On top of that, we take a look at a batch of screenshots showing different dynamic weather conditions, which actually affect the enemies you’ll encounter.

Save the princess from a catfish pirate in Jaleco's Ninja Jajamaru-Kun

3 years 3 months ago

While the Famicom saw release in the middle of 1983, most of North America wouldn’t see the NES until sometime in 1986. There’s actually a good few games that came out before the NES landed that never really got localized, such as Challenger, Chack’n Pop, and Antarctic Adventure. Being on the wrong side of The Legend of Zelda's and Metroid’s releases, most are cyclical arcade jaunts, but some are still worthwhile places to visit.

On this Famicom Friday, we’ll be taking a look at one of these primordial games that would go on to spawn its own franchise. Perhaps not a series as landmark as Ganbare Goemon, but one that has a place in gaming’s history. Japanese gaming history, anyway, we didn’t get too many of them over on this side of the pond.

Square Enix bans almost 6000 players for real-money trading in Final Fantasy 14

3 years 3 months ago

Square Enix has banned over 5000 players for what it deems as "illegal activities" in Final Fantasy 14.

In an update to the official website, the publisher reminded players that "real money trading (RMT) and other illicit activities upset the balance of the game and, as such, are prohibited under the Terms of Service".

Having reportedly "confirmed the existence of players who are engaging in these illicit activities", Square Enix has now terminated 5037 accounts for participation in real money trading and prohibited activities, and another 814 for advertising real money trading.

Ant-Man Joins Fortnite, Most Other Marvel Characters Return

3 years 3 months ago

Fortnite's excellent Zero Point event continues to add characters from other universes. Just a week after introducing Ripley and a Xenomorph from the Aliens films, Epic Games is dipping  into the nearly bottomless Marvel Comics well again to bring Ant-Man to the battle royale.

Epic Games says the Ant-Man suit is designed but Hank Pym, but doesn't say who is in it. We have to assume it's Scott Lang because he is joined by friend Ant-Tonio Banderas, who formed a tight bond with the growing and shrinking hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. This is Fortnite after all, so there could be a sentient banana in the suit as well. Who knows.

Ant-Man also comes with a toopick pickaxe with a large olive on it. The oversized item (and ant friend) are sadly the only items that are the wrong size. Ant-Man can't grow or shrink like he does in the comic books and films. Epic Games is asking its player base to take photos that make him look microscopic in size. If you are up for such a challenge, tag your shots with the Twitter hashtag #Fortography.

Take-Two's CEO reckons we're "ready" for $70 video games

3 years 3 months ago

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has revealed he thinks gamers are "ready" for $70/£65 video games.

Talking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference this week and transcribed by our friends at VGC, Zelnick was asked to expand on why the publisher had decided to add $10 to the price of NBA 2K21.

The first publisher to confirm a price hike for next-gen video games, Zelnick said the decision came because the game offered "an array of extraordinary experiences" and the last frontline price increase in the US was fifteen years ago.

The Division 2 Will Get a Brand-New Game Mode in 'Late 2021 At the Earliest'

3 years 3 months ago
Ubisoft has shared a bit more info on the big update coming to The Division 2 in late 2021 at the earliest, including that there will be a brand-new game mode and new ways to progress your agent. The Division 2 development team shared the update, following up on its recent confirmation that more content was on the way and that Title Update 12 was no longer going to be the last major update to the game. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/02/division-2-on-ps5-14-minutes-of-4k-60fps-gameplay"] While the team didn't reveal too much, they did tease that this new game mode is "entirely new to the franchise." Furthermore, the team is "investigating new ways to progress your agent with an emphasis on increasing build variety and viability." Development on this new update is still in its early stages and will take several months to complete, according to the team, and it is currently scheduled to release in late 2021 at the earliest. The goal is to make "meaningful change to the game," so the necessary time will be taken to ensure that can come true. Until the update is ready, Ubisoft Massive will be re-running previous seasons released during Year 2. This means that the next season - Season 5 - will be a re-run of Season 1 and will give players a chance to collect rewards and collectibles that they may have missed the first time around.

Inside Dinosaur Planet - examining Rare's recently recovered 'lost' N64 game

3 years 3 months ago

Rewind to the turn of the century - the next generation of console gaming was in its infancy with the arrival of Sega Dreamcast and the promise of PlayStation 2, but Rare was busy finishing up its latest Nintendo 64 projects. Perfect Dark was set to arrive that summer after multiple delays, Conker's Bad Fur Day would arrive the following year, but it was Dinosaur Planet that would perhaps be the most exciting title of the lot.

Magazine articles teased a multi-character, Zelda-style action adventure set in a beautiful dino-inhabited world. It was shaping up to become one of the largest games Rare had ever produced but before it reached the finish line, the game was cancelled and development shifted to the Nintendo GameCube, where it became Star Fox Adventures. Dinosaur Planet became a 'lost' game then, never properly seen outside of Nintendo until recently, when a surprisingly complete build salvaged from development hardware appeared.

Wraith: The Oblivion - Afterlife resurrects the tedium of early VR games

3 years 3 months ago

Wraith: The Oblivion - Afterlife is shaping up to be quite an underwhelming trudge through a beige world that's full of beige horrors and beige gameplay mechanics.

Billed as a 'horror exploration game', Wraith: The Oblivion - Afterlife is light on jump scares and heavy on those most boring of VR moments - the ones where you just have to stand around and twiddle your thumbs while you listen to other people explain the story to you.

I recently played a preview demo that covered the first 20 percent of the game and during that time I encountered the bare minimum in terms of frights or interesting puzzles. I did however do a lot of walking through sparsely decorated and barely interactive locations with my arm outstretched like a half-arsed zombie looking for brains.

Review: Everhood

3 years 3 months ago

Combat is a central feature to many games. We’re not very good at depicting conflict resolution in an interactive way unless it involves swinging a sword or firing a gun. A debate is difficult to simulate, but ballistics are not.

Recently, there’s been some effort spent at coming up with other ways to have the player solve their problems without resorting to violence. Many games are eschewing combat entirely or giving you more options about just what kind of monster you want to be. It’s refreshing, since we’ve kind of been stuck on this one note for action games since the ‘80s.

I’m going to say right off the bat that Everhood is perhaps my favourite depiction of not-quite-fighting that I’ve encountered in a long time. It contains all the excitement of a good dust-up but without any real blows being exchanged. It’s just too bad it also finds new and innovative ways to frustrate me.

Microsoft Flight Simulator CRJ Gets New Video Showing EFB, Options Aplenty, and Awesome Animations

3 years 3 months ago

Today Aerosoft released a new video focusing on the operation of its upcoming Bombardier CRJ add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The video, as usual narrated by a veteran CRJ pilot, showcases the many features of the EFB.

The EFB, or Electronic Flight Bag, is a tablet pilots usually use to access documentation and a variety of tools. In flight simulators, it’s often used for settings, animations, and additional features that can’t be implemented within the cockpit’s avionics.

On top of taking a look at the many options available in the EFB, we get to take a look at the various animations of the doors and the air-driven generator which is actually modeled on the aircraft. This is a pretty rare feature.

You can watch it below.

The CRJ add-on by Aerosoft will release on March 16 including the 700 and 550 versions of the aircraft. An optional further add-on will follow 6-12 weeks later including the 900 and 1000 variants.
