The Apex Legends crossplay beta is now live and while that's great for those that want to play cross-platform, it's bad news for those that were oddly attached to Wraith's Naruto run.
The crossplay feature has been a long time coming, but it's important to remember that this move is currently still in beta status. That being said, PC and console players alike can team up together for that ultimate win. Or, they can choose to stay in their own platform's pool; dealer's choice.
While this is great news, especially for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players, the downside is that the new update changed the way Wraith moves in-game. Is it a big deal? No, not really, but I'm not alone in feeling my little weeb heart die a little bit by the fact that the Naruto run is no longer available.
No Naruto run, no game. I don’t make the rules 🤷🏻♀️ https://t.co/Nd4TfFWx1S

Razer is no stranger to making products that are mobile. Its line of gaming laptops is highly regarded. A few years ago, Razer introduced its own smartphone. The newest venture will fit right alongside the phone as something people use all the time.
Razer and Visa have partnered up to introduce a prepaid payment method called the Razer Card. It functions just like any other prepaid card, in that you load it up with cash in order to use it. There are three versions of the Razer Card: a digital version that makes use of a Razer cash app; a physical standard card; and a physical premium card that features a light-up Razer logo.
Because you're all wondering (and because the easy reference is there): No, it's not RGB.
There's incentive to pick up the Razer Card outside of general brand allegiance. This card offers 5% cash back on items purchased through Razer's store, and 1% cash back on all other purchases (uncapped). There's also the opportunity to earn rewards (and this is very vaguely phrased) "based on tasks and everyday transactions." It's more aggressive for beta members, as they get 10% back on store purchases along with the chance to earn $2,000 worth of Razer gear.
It's not the best card on the market, but it's not aimed at adults with established credit. Razer's Fintech arm is trying to establish the world's first global youth bank and the Razer Card is a major part of those plans. With that in mind, unlimited 1% cash back on a prepaid debit card is about as good as it gets.

A bronze titan brandishing a steel broadsword stands tall at the mouth of an ashy volcano. In front of him is a weary adventurer, helmet teetering on his head, with a plume of arrows sticking out of his back. This image, of unknown origin, was uploaded to r/EldenRing, the subreddit for the hotly anticipated new game from Souls studio FromSoftware in collaboration with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, and thus far, it's gathered 1,100 upvotes. "When you finally gonna defeat glaive master Hodir," reads the title. "But it turns out there are hidden archers in the back shooting you to death."

We all remember our first encounter with the indomitable Hodir, right? What a gauntlet that was! It took me a dozen tries. Update: Nintendo of America announced today that the Overwatch free trial will also be available for Switch owners in the west.

Baldur's Gate is perhaps one of the most revered CRPG series of all time, even if I think the older games don't really hold up well today. Today, Larian Studios has unveiled the Early Access portion of Baldur's Gate 3, their follow-up to the legendary Divinity: Original Sin II. I called Divinity: Original Sin II the " the true modern successor to the heralded Baldur’s Gate II," and now we've got an actual heir to the throne launching.
So... let's play it, yeah? That sounds like a great idea! Baldur's Gate 3 is currently available in Early Access on Steam, Stadia, and Mac, but we're hoping that like other Larian games, it will come to consoles later on down the line.

is the company’s first foray into the world of PCIe Gen 4, the new super fast storage standard that’s set to become the baseline for all modern gaming PCs going forward. It’s still relatively early days for PCIe 4.0 at the moment, though, and you do need a compatible motherboard to get the most from it. As a result, the 980 Pro’s appeal may be rather limited at this point, especially if you’re not planning on upgrading your PC any time soon.
However, as a sign of things to come, the Samsung 980 Pro sets a high bar, offering best in class random read and write speeds compared to its other PCIe 4.0 rivals, and best of all, it doesn’t require a chunky heatsink to get the most from it, either.
If you've had your fill of Super Mario Bros. 35, heads up: Nintendo is rolling out another one of its infrequent Nintendo Switch Online membership perks. For a limited time, Overwatch will be free to play.
To partake, just grab Overwatch from the eShop and play as much as your schedule allows between October 13 at 11:00 a.m. Pacific and October 20 at 11:59 p.m. This Nintendo Switch Online Game Trial contains the "entire game," so you'll want to set aside 12GB for the download. Progress carries over.
I imagine most of us know how we feel about Overwatch by now, but if you're curious about the game at large – or you just want to see how the Switch version in particular handles itself – go do your thing.
It's honestly bumming me out how disconnected I feel from Blizzard right now. I hope Diablo IV is good.

After nearly 27 years, players have finally found SNES action-RPG classic Illusion of Gaia’s first speedrunning skip, and it revolves around using spiders to overload the game’s memory.
There're some seasonally appropriate treats in store for PlayStation Now subscribers looking to inject a bit of video game spookiness into their October, with five new additions coming in the month ahead: moody open-world zombie adventure Days Gone, hack-and-slash remake MediEvil, asymmetrical multiplayer horror Friday the 13th, Trine 4, and Double Fine's Rad.
Days Gone, which seems as good a place to start as any, follows the tribulations of bandana-bedecked Deacon St. John, an outlaw-turned-drifter with a penchant for motorbikes on a quest to find his wife, two years after a global pandemic. What follows is a survival-hued open-world adventure across the gorgeously rendered Oregon countryside, doggedly blighted by its multitudinous swells of cannibalistic monstrosities and, less pleasingly, a whiff of overfamiliarity.
"Days Gone carries with it the expectation that if you cobble a game together from parts of other games that are already massively successful, you'll have yourself a winner," wrote contributor Malindy Hetfield in her review last year, "but it has no awareness of why these games were successful... Both in terms of its systems and its story it's uninspired, which is driven home by the fact that it's endlessly, needlessly long". Perhaps you will like it though!
Activision Blizzard will be closing its office in Versailles, France, according to Bloomberg.

Yes, Everything Is Garbage. But garbage can be used to make turnips. Turnips can be sold or fed to cows or sheep, whose sweaters can feed the people who were born from trees and books and yet more turnips. So goes this delightfully simple supply chain builder from the folks behind Genital Jousting, a game where a continent of trash can become an obelisk to start-up culture.

There are about a dozen possible takeaways from Ubisoft announcing Watch Dogs: Legion's post-launch content plans. Maybe you'd like to focus on the fact that some is free and some is paid-for. Or, you might zero in on the fact that the protagonists from the first two games show up in the story DLC.
Me? I'd like to shine that spotlight on the unlicensed BattleBots multiplayer mode.
Soon after launch, Watch Dogs: Legion is getting a PvP mode called Spider-Bot Arena. It's an eight-player deathmatch where everyone takes control of a mechanical arachnid. Hop, shoot, and destroy. What a tangled web we weave.
That's just one reveal in this very detailed video. Let's tackle the rest in bullet-point style:

This is just the early access launch, and there’s more to come
My time with Baldur’s Gate 3 can best be summed up by what it made me do: After spending all of Saturday playing it, I re-downloaded Divinity Original Sin 2, a game I previously played for over 100 hours. Original Sin 2 is one of my favorite games, so BG3 deserves serious credit for reigniting that itch and causing it…
It was roundabout the time I restarted the game in fury that I decided I absolutely love Baldur's Gate 3. Larian's take on BioWare's genre-defining Dungeons & Dragons adaptation is every bit as vibrant, engrossing and startling as you'd expect from the minds behind Divinity: Original Sin 2. It's both modern in its dialogue presentation and exquisitely throwback - every blow, conversational ploy or feat of sorcery governed by the fateful rattle of on-screen dice. It's steeped in '90s BioWare HUD trappings but always feels like a Larian joint, with quests and turn-based clashes that reward thinking outside the box to an almost game-breaking degree. It boasts the developer's usual diorama-esque level design plus crisp, colourful writing that channels the immensities of D&D's lore without sinking into impenetrability. The only major problem I have with Baldur's Gate 3, the expected Early Access bugs aside, is that it isn't the full thing. So why did I up and start a new save, a few hours in?
Act III of Valorant’s battle pass is just around the corner, and when it arrives it’ll mark more than just a fresh set of new cosmetics to grind towards. Developer Riot Games has today revealed a brand new map called Icebox, the first since the game’s full launch back in June, as has it also released a new developer diary that discusses some upcoming changes to the game’s competitive play.
Icebox, though, is undoubtedly the big news. With just four maps in the rotation currently, Valorant has been crying out for a new map, and Icebox looks very interesting, indeed. A brief trailer provides a glimpse at its layout and frigid aesthetic, which looks like some sort of Arctic port complete with a naval vessel and military dock.

In other news related to Act III, Riot has explained that it’s planning to tighten up the disparity between rank levels in competitive play moving forward. When before the game pulled in players from up to six ranks apart it will only be three when Act III launches.
In theory, that should mean better progression for higher-ranked players struggling to move upward as a result of constantly having lesser ranked players in their games. On the flip-side, though, it will also make playing with friends harder unless you’re all of a very similar skill-level.
Constantin Film has reportedly found its cast for the lead roles in the upcoming live-action film reboot of Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise (via Deadline).
It’s going to be directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down), and will apparently be an origin story adaptation “with faithful ties to Capcom’s classic survival horror games,” taking place in 1998 during the outbreak in Raccoon City.
Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner) will play the role of Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell (Upload) will play Chris Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) will play Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) will play Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Victorious, Zombieland: Double Tap) will play Leon Kennedy, and then we have Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin.
You can see an image of the cast down below:
Roberts commented on why they decided to go with the older setting instead of going towards a more modern route:
We already knew Watch Dogs Legion's season pass will include Watch Dogs 1's Aiden Pearce as a playable character. Today we heard it'll also star Watch Dogs 2 character Wrench, a transhuman named Mina and... a new female Assassin in a crossover with the universe of Assassin's Creed.
Season pass story expansion Bloodlines will introduce Darcy, a new Assassin's Creed heroine and member of the modern day Assassins group. Other than a quick glimpse, nothing else about her or her role in the story was revealed.
This is, of course, not the first crossover between the two Ubisoft franchises. Alongside numerous small nods and references to Assassin's Creed in Watch Dogs 1 and 2, the main crossover between the two is still that of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag character Olivier Garneau, who crossed over from that game's modern day portion to appear in the original Watch Dogs as a target in a side-mission. These events were later recapped and woven into Assassin's Creed Origins, making them part of series canon.

has a lot in common with Breath Of The Wild, including the ability to climb any surface, a pocket hang glider, the design of its enemies, and the need to stuff your pockets with cooking ingredients. But rather than criticise it for being derivative, I want to celebrate it for what it gets right – and what it adds – to the formula of its most obvious inspiration.

ProbablyMonsters, a company that scouts and establishes game development studios, has announced that it is in the process of putting together a brand new team. This as-yet-unnamed outfit is staffed by developers who have previously worked on popular franchises such as Borderlands and Torchlight.
Among the key players included in this new venture are Runic Games founders John Dunbar and Marsh Lefler, Borderlands level designer Patrick Blank, and former Perfect World developer Allen Fong. As a unit, these four individuals had instrumental roles in the production of 2009 fantasy RPG Torchlight.
The new studio is the third company to be established under the ProbablyMonsters umbrella, following Cauldron Studios and Firewalk Studios, and is already in the early stages of preparing its first title: a co-op RPG developed for next-gen platforms. ProbablyMonsters states that the new studio already has a workforce of over 150 people. The team are planning to move into new headquarters in Washington once it is deemed safe to do so, given the challenges of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
