Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Fantastic Four DLC Pack Is Available Today With A New Trailer

4 years 1 month ago

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is rounding it’s DLC today, as the Fantastic Four have finally come to the ensemble brawler in a new expansion. The gameplay and a story tease were shown off in the Nintendo Direct Mini this morning.

You can check out the trailer for yourself:

A bearded Mr. Fantastic arrives with the Fantastic Four in tow to stop Dr. Doom’s attempt to become God Emperor; just a standard Ultimate Alliance affair. The Shadow of Doom pack will be bringing a postscript to the game, adding a new story mode taking place after the events of the main story.

This is the third DLC pack released for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. Preceding Shadow of Doom was the Curse of the Vampire pack which included the Marvel Knights, and the Rise of the Phoenix pack which included some X-Men.

Shadow of Doom is the final DLC pack for Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but hey, at least you can be playing it today. In order to purchase DLC, you must purchase the expansion upgrade; no DLC can be purchased individually.

Best Animal Crossing Games, All 5 Ranked

4 years 1 month ago

5. Animal Crossing: City Folk (Wii)

best animal crossing games ranked

Oh Animal Crossing: City Folk. It had all the ingredients required to be a smash-hit game that put Animal Crossing on the map in a bigger and better way than ever before. It was introducing a city area for players to explore, it featured Wii Speak, allowing players to speak to one another online, and it was on the Nintendo Wii, which sold an absolute ton. Over 100 million units to be precise.

Yet when City Folk arrived, it felt like a bit of a disappointing cash-in on Nintendo’s part. The city area was lackluster and didn’t really offer that slice of metropolitan life that players were craving. Outside of that, there weren’t any major new features or improvements from the DS entry, Wild World.

What you’re left with is an Animal Crossing game that was underwhelming at the time, and the weakest in the mainline series so far.

Half-Life: Alyx Breaks Steam Concurrent Players Record For a VR Game

4 years 1 month ago

When measured against other recent sequels in major AAA gaming franchises, Half-Life: Alyx isn’t likely to have moved the needle in terms of its commercial performance. But that’s only because none of them are VR games. In comparison to its VR peers, Half-Life: Alyx has performed remarkably well, easily breaking Steam’s concurrent player records for a VR game.

As reported by GitHyp, Valve’s shooter hit a respectable 49,000 concurrent players in the days following its release. And while that might not sound much for the anticipated return of one of the industry’s most iconic franchises, it’s important to bear in mind how small the VR segment of the market still is.

As noted by GitHyp, other VR games from AAA franchises haven’t come close to those numbers; Bethesda’s Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR didn’t even hit 3,000 concurrent viewers despite the popularity of those two IPs. Other spinoff titles like DoomVR have seen dismal numbers in the 100s of concurrent players.

The previous concurrent player record for a VR game was held by VRChat, a social platform that peaked at 20,000 concurrent players and has stayed within Steam’s top 50 since its launch.

Other games like No Man’s Sky NEXT introduced VR to an already popular game in tandem with a major update that introduced features to non-VR platforms and therefore isn’t a fair comparison.

Animal Crossing New Horizons Bunny Day Event Details Revealed

4 years 1 month ago

Out of nowhere today, Nintendo dropped a Mini Direct on YouTube to the surprise of many. Less surprising is that it revealed a basketful of details about Bunny Day in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

This event is essentially the Animal Crossing version of a secular Easter. A yellow bunny named Zipper comes to your island to hide eggs. These special items can be found on trees, underground and can even be fished out of the water. You’ll have to search everywhere to find them all.

It was revealed that with enough eggs you can craft furniture and other items that are a part of the egg series. This includes an arch, chairs, tables, a crown and much more all made out of pastel-painted eggs.

This event will begin very soon on April 1 and will run until April 12. In Animal Crossing New Horizons, you need updates to receive these events. No need to worry, the day-one update that released last week included the update for the Bunny Day event.

All you need to do is boot up the game starting on Wednesday next week to partake in the Bunny Day event. It also looks like the game is going to receive another update later in April to include the Earth Day event along with other features.

That’s everything we learned today about the Animal Crossing New Horizons Bunny Day event and other updates. If you can’t get enough of this game, then check out our Guide Wiki. And don’t forget to check out the news about the latest update for Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Catherine: Full Body Announced For Nintendo Switch

4 years 1 month ago

In today’s Nintendo Direct Mini, Catherine: Full Body, from the creators of the Persona series, has been announced for Switch.

The game will release on Nintendo’s console on July 7, 2020.

Catherine: Full Body is an enhanced port that focuses on the life of Vincent Brooks, a slacker whose girlfriend, Katherine, wants to take things more seriously in their relationship. Vincent soon meets another girl named Catherine (it gets pretty confusing), who manages to seduce her way into Vincent’s life.

Confused, Vincent realizes he must make a choice on who to be with. Soon afterward, Vincent starts to have strange dreams where he must climb towers by solving sliding puzzles.

This enhanced port, however, adds even more gameplay, and a third love interest for Vincent named Rin, someone with a lot of charm, but even more secrets.

The gameplay is sorted into two sections, daytime, where you can socialize with Vincent’s friends and love interests, and nighttime, where you fall into nightmares and have to climb in order to survive.

Throughout the story, you’re constantly asked questions which will determine how things play out, and who you will end up within the end. The game is rather short, being around fifteen hours, but there is a lot of replayability.

Bleeding Edge Review – A Little Too Lean

4 years 1 month ago

Bleeding Edge on Xbox One

Bleeding Edge quietly released yesterday on both Xbox One and PC and you’d be forgiven if you forgot it existed until reading this. Since its announcement back at E3 2019, there hasn’t been a ton of buzz, positive or negative, about Bleeding Edge.

Perhaps it’s just a feeling of trepidation towards a game that just looks so different from Ninja Theory’s last game, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, which was critically well-received and acclaimed especially with regards to its writing. Oddly, Bleeding Edge leverages none of what people really liked about Helblade; it has virtually no story, and is focused entirely on online multiplayer combat.

Its core gameplay is fun, and the talent of the developers shines through in spite of problems which I’ll get to, but it’s apparent that there wasn’t anyone with enough weight on the team to hold the game up a bit and add key, modern touches that need to be included in a game that wants to survive in the hyper competitive multiplayer market.

The lazy comparison that some may make because of its cast of quirky heroes with unique abilities would be to a game like Overwatch or the ill-fated Battleborn, but Bleeding Edge a team-based brawler, not a shooter.

genDesign, Remedy, & Playdead Partner With Epic in New Publishing Deal

4 years 1 month ago

The next games from Fumito Ueda’s genDesign, Remedy Entertainment, and Playdead will all be published by Epic Games. The partnership was announced earlier today alongside a video introducing an initiative that “fundamentally changes the developer/publisher model.”

Epic states its approach as aiming “to have the most developer-friendly terms in the industry so that creators can focus on making great games.”

That means giving developers full creative freedom and ownership over their intellectual properties while they still enjoy 100% coverage of all funding costs, from salary expenses to marketing. Profits will be shared 50/50.

Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Epic Games said of the partnership:

“We’re building the publishing model we always wanted for ourselves when we worked with publishers.”

While head of Epic Games publishing Hector Sanchez added:

“genDESIGN, Remedy, and Playdead are among the most innovative and talented studios in the industry, with strong visions for their next games. They will have full creative control, while Epic will provide a solid foundation of project funding and services.”

While no official announcements were made as to the nature of any of the three developers’ next games, Epic concludes by explaining that information is on the way in the coming months.

Xbox Series X GPU Source Code Reportedly Stolen, Ransom Set at $100 Million

4 years 1 month ago

AMD’s new range of Navi graphics chips, which are being used to power Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox Series X, are the product of expensive research and development efforts. Unfortunately for AMD, according to a report from TorrentFreak, it sounds as though a hacker already has their paws on the valuable source code and wants a lot of money to give it back.

The information comes by way of a DMCA notice sent to the development platform Github from a female individual by the alias of “xxXsoullessXxx”. The individual is seeking a buyer for what she claims is the source code Navi 10 and Navi 21 devices, as well as that of the Xbox Series X GPU “Arden.”

Github has since removed the repository at the behest of AMD, but you can read a copy of it here.

Torrentfreak has since reached out to the leaker to who explained that she “found AMD Navi GPU hardware source codes in a hacked computer” in November of last year. “The user didn’t take any effective action against the leak of the codes,” she continued and then explained that the code was extracted from an unprotected server/computer.

The leaker has valued the information at $100 million.

“If I get no buyer I will just leak everything,” the leaker concluded in what will read as a chilling ultimatum to AMD. The company has since acknowledged the leak in its own statement, which reads:

Remedy Is Developing Two Unannounced Next-Gen Games, Funded by “Major Publisher”

4 years 1 month ago

Remedy Entertainment, the developer behind last year’s acclaimed action game Control, has signed agreements with a major publisher for the company’s next two games, a press release confirmed today. Both are as yet unannounced but confirmed for next-generation hardware; one is described as a AAA multi-platform already in pre-production, while the other is a smaller project within the same franchise.

The agreement entitles Remedy to a 50% share in the net revenue and will retain ownership of the game’s intellectual property, while the publishing partner will provide all funding.

The partnership extends Remedy’s strategy of creating and developing its own IP’s into long-term franchises. Both games will be launched on next-generation console platforms and PC in the next few years, and both are being developed on Remedy’s proprietary Northlight game engine and tools.

The press statement explains that Remedy’s financial outlook and guidance remain unchanged. The company estimates its revenue and operating profit to increase during 2020.

As mentioned above, Remedy’s Control earned universal praise from critics when it launched last year; Control was nominated for eight awards at The Game Awards, including 2019 Game of the Year, and won Best Art Direction.

Twinfinite reviewed the game, praising its atmosphere but ultimately concluding it didn’t quite live up to its potential.

Animal Crossing New Horizons 1.1.1 Patch Fixes Item Duplication Glitch

4 years 1 month ago

Animal Crossing: New Horizons may have only been officially out in the wild for less than a week, but Nintendo has today just dropped the 1.1.1 patch that fixes the item duplication glitch that’s been doing the rounds the past few days.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 1.1.1 patch notes are short and sweet, simply stating that it “Fixed a serious bug affecting game balance.”

For those unaware, the item duplication glitch involved two players, and require one to rotate an item, while the other tried to pick it up at the same time. Doing so would see the item rotate, but the second player also have the item in their inventory.

This essentially gave players a quick and easy way to make a ton of Bells, especially if duplicating rare and expensive bugs or fish like Tarantulas, Coelacanths, or Sharks.

With the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ 1.1.1 patch, players will no longer be able to make use of this duplication glitch. You can’t avoid doing the update to continue making use of the glitch, as you’ll need to download the 1.1.1 update in order to play either local or online multiplayer in the game.

Outside of this one fix, the patch doesn’t appear to have added or made any other changes to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. That being said, we do know that Nintendo will be releasing updates in the future to bring festive events to the game.

Mary Skelter Finale Revealed by Compile Heart

4 years 1 month ago

Yesterday Compile Heart released a video mentioning that it would announce the final game of a popular series. Today the mystery has been solved, and it’s Mary Skelter Finale.

The video, which you can see at the bottom of the post, starred president Norihisa Kochiwa as he announced that the last number of Dengeki PlayStation (which is closing its magazine and converting to an online-only publication) releasing on March 28 would include the announcement of the final game of a popular series.

The presence of blurred posters showing Neptune from Hyperdimension Neptunia made many believe that Compile Heart was ready to announce the last Neptunia game, but this isn’t the case. The posters were likely cheeky misdirection.

Today Amazon Japan posted the cover of Dengeki PlayStation (via GamesTalk) and it mentions “Kamigokuto Mary Skelter Finale” which appears to be indeed the last game of the Mary Skelter series.

At the moment, we don’t have full information about the game, including the platforms. Yet, the fact that it’s on Dengeki PlayStation obviously indicates that it’ll come at least on PS4.

That being said, this doesn’t mean that we’ll get to play it on Sony’s console, considering that Idea Factory International skipped the PS4 version for Mary Skelter 2, likely due to Sony’s recent restrictive policies toward fanservicey games.

In any case, of course, the game has been revealed only for Japan, so there’s no word on whether it’ll come west at all or not.

Granblue Fantasy Relink Devs Discuss Development Progress; Have Ideas For More Granblue Games

4 years 1 month ago

Today’s issue of Weekly Famitsu included an interview about Granblue Fantasy with producer Yuito Kimura and director Tetsuya Fukuhara, who talked about the progress of Granblue Fantasy Relink and more.

Kimura-san mentioned that development is moving on quietly. While he can’t provide specific details, the game has progressed to the point that it’s fun to play, and if development keeps proceeding as smoothly as it is now, he feels that the team will be able to deliver a game that will please the fans.

He also confirmed that Cygames has a set goal for a release window internally.

The two developers were also asking if there could be more games in the future using the Granblue IP.

Kimura-san mentioned that there are some games that they want to make, so hopefully it’ll happen at some point.

Fukuhara-san also confirmed that he has some ideas, but despite the fact that Granblue Fantasy Versus has been released, development of updates and DLC will continue for a while. On top of that, there’s the development of Relink, so he would like to focus on those two first.

Kimura-san added that Relink isn’t an easy game to develop, so there isn’t much that can be done in parallel with it. That being said, he’d like to work on a casual game for the franchise.

If you’re interested in the Granblue Fantasy franchise, you can read our latest interview with Fukuhara-san, full of details about Relink and Versus.

Resident Evil 3 Remake Demo Mod Turns Every Zombie Into Nemesis

4 years 1 month ago

2020’s Resident Evil 3 Remake is a suped-up reimaging of the classic PS1 horror title from Capcom, and the scariest thing about it is having to face off and avoid a seven-foot-tall monster with tentacles chasing you throughout a majority of the campaign. The game is scary enough already, but someone modded the recent demo on PC so that every single enemy zombie is replaced by Nemesis. Yeah, sounds fun.

The modder goes by FluffyQuack and they released a video of the mod in action to their YouTube channel, which you can check out below. It showcases Jill Valentine running around in an even more frightening version of Raccoon City.

The Resident Evil 3 demo is now out for everyone to try out. If you’ve jumped in, you’re likely aware of just how frustrating it is to deal with one Nemesis, so imagine dealing with dozens of them!

You can download the mod here if you’re interested.

Birds of Prey Arriving in DC Universe Online Next Month

4 years 1 month ago

Hot off the heels of the Suicide Squad follow up film Birds of Prey is an incoming episode and event in superhero MMORPG DC Universe Online that lets you fight alongside the tough Gotham City ladies starting April 16.

Event versions of the episode will be available for free for any players level 15+ for a limited time, and then the full episode will be available for purchase for any future runs, as all other episode are.

Throughout the episode, whether you have chosen to be a Super Hero or Supervillain, you will bump into Black Canary, Harley Quinn, The Huntress, and Poison Ivy as you too scramble to assist Oracle. Just as they are figuring out how to trust each other and work as a team, so will you, which means you will end up working with and fighting against these powerful characters along the way.

The Birds of Prey have always been a mixture of heroes and villains, as the roster boasts both Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, known Batman enemies, and Huntress who is a strong part of the Bat family. The team is most normally (though not in the film) gathered and guided by Oracle, which is Barbara Gordon’s post-Batgirl and post-Killing Joke (where she was paralyzed from the waist down by the Joker) identity.

DC Universe Online is an MMORPG set in the DC Comics universe (launched back in 2011) that has the player create either a hero or villain character with a wide range of powers.

The player also goes through a process to pick a mentor for their characters powers, color palette, and backstory such as Superman for heroes or Lex Luthor for villains.

Below PS4 Release Date Confirmed by Capybara Games

4 years 1 month ago

Capybara Games’ atmospheric dungeon crawler Below will come to PS4 next month, April 7, the developer confirmed today. In addition to the standard game, it’ll also come packed with the new explorer mode, which as we reported last month, is aimed at making the punishing gameplay experience a little more accessible.

The PS4 version of Below will cost $29.99, while owners of the game over on Steam and Xbox One will receive a free update adding Explore.

For those not up to speed with Below, the game released as a timed exclusive for Microsoft platforms back in 2018. It sees players descend into the depths of a mountain’s underground caverns, battling deadly creatures along the way.

While it was praised for its eerie and mysterious setting, the brutal survival mechanics made it hard to truly enjoy and it ended up with a somewhat middling critical reception.

Twinfinite reviewed Below last year and concluded:

“In truth, the joy of BELOW lay in overcoming its insurmountable challenges to unravel a mysterious world. But all too often, the game’s masochistic mechanics got in the way to ruin its wholly engrossing atmosphere.”

If you haven’t already seen it, you can check out Below’s PS4 announcement trailer below.

New Team Shooter “Rogue Company” Revealed by Smite Developer Hi-Rez Studios

4 years 1 month ago

Hi-Rez Studios, the team behind the popular MOBA Smite, has revealed its next competitive multiplayer experience. Called Rogue Company, the team shooter is being handled by its new First Watch Games team based in the UK. It’s currently in Alpha and is set for a full launch across PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC later this summer.

As you’ll see in the trailer, Rogue Company looks as though it follows the in-vogue team shooter formula; players take control of one of several bombastic mercenaries animated in a cartoony aesthetic and all wielding sci-fi weaponry as they showdown across various arenas. Gameplay is a third-person shooter affair with special abilities and skills adding further depth.

The name Rogue Company refers to the vigilante force of mercenaries in question, who take on million-dollar contracts to stop imminent threats; “elite, sexy and paid, Rogue Company operates between the lines and on the run,” a press release sent to Twinfinite explains.

Headed-up by Lead Game Designer – and former Halo world champion – Scott Lussier, Rogue Company is the debut game from First Watch Games; a band of Hi-Rez Studios developers and industry veterans with experience working on some of gaming’s most famous and successful shooters.

Lussier said of today’s announcement:

“Gamers should be able to play with their friends, regardless of platform. Rogue Company is all about bringing together a huge community of gunslingers and giving them a depth of gameplay to show off their individual style.”

While executive producer Chris Larson weighed in:

“We’re tired of grown-up shooters being overly serious. Rogue Company matches a modern, high-style universe with tight, tactical action gameplay. The alpha testers are loving it and we can’t wait to welcome more of you in as we gear up for launch!”

Nintendo Switch Repair Center Closes Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

4 years 1 month ago

For many, playing video games is the only reprieve from boredom as lockdowns continue amid the ongoing coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. But for those whose console of choice is Nintendo, they’ll want to make sure to take good care of it — the company has today announced that the repair service center has closed as part of a preventive measure to contain the virus’ spread.

In a statement over on its official website, Nintendo explains:

“Due to preventive measures put in place for the COVID-19 coronavirus, and in accordance with federal and local guidelines, our repair centers are closed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Once repair services resume, we will work as quickly as possible to get you playing again.

Please note that, during this closure, products sent in for repair may be returned to you as undeliverable.

If our repair center has already received your product, it will remain there until repair services resume. “

If you’re affected by the closure then we encourage you to head over to the site and read the full FAQ section for details. Essentially, the service center is closed indefinitely. You’ll have to keep checking back to the site for information on when it will reopen. Given the lockdown is supposed to continue for another couple of weeks yet, we’d suggest that’s a rough timeline to go by, but that could well change.

New Torchlight III Trailer Introduces Sharpshooter Class

4 years 1 month ago

Following Torchlight III’s reveal earlier this year, developer Echtra Games is introducing the Sharpshooter class for the first time today in a new trailer. True to her name, the “elusive explorer” is capable of picking off targets from distance with a range of different weapons, from firearms to bow and arrow. The trailer also showcases her summoning abilities as she calls upon ancient spirits to unleash powerful attacks.

For the uninitiated, Torchlight III’s development came as somewhat of a surprise when it was revealed back in January. Echtra Games had originally been developing the shared-world RPG Torchlight Frontiers but opted to scrap the project in favor of a full sequel that stayed true to the structure of the original two games.

It’s a decision that will undoubtedly have pleased fans of the series, and from the looks of today’s trailer, it appears things are moving ahead swimmingly.

The Sharpshooter joins the Dusk Mage, The Forged, and The Railmaster as the four classes in the game.

For those that missed the original announcement trailer, you can watch it here. Torchlight III is coming to PC via Steam in 2020, but no release date has yet been announced.
