Granblue Fantasy Relink Is “At the Peak of Development;” New Glimpse of Gameplay Revealed

1 year 8 months ago

During the Grand Finals of Granblue Fantasy Versus at EVO 2022, Cygames provided a new glimpse at the gameplay of the action-JRPG Granblue Fantasy Relink.

Director Tetsuya Fukuhara appeared in a brief video in which he introduced Granblue Fantasy Versus, but he actually moved on to talk about Relink as well.

He mentioned that the game is “at the peak of development” and confirmed that the release window is slated for 2023 (we know it’s coming for PS5, PS4, and PC).

Interestingly, he showcased a glimpse of off-screen gameplay in which we can see Gran, Catalina, Lancelot, and Percival in the party, with Lyria who appears to be following along as an NPC.

While this isn’t much, it’s an extra look at the game that never hurts since Cygames had mentioned that the next reveal would come in December at Granblue Fantasy Fes.

You can watch it below.

Incidentally, there was pretty much no news for Granblue Fantasy Versus itself besides the announcement of the online Granblue Fantasy Versus Community League (which you can also see below right after the Relink segment).

Incidentally, the tournament at EVO 2022 was won by Gamera, who defeated Tororo in the grand finals coming from the losers’ bracket.

Jujutsu Kaisen Gets Special Promo Video of First Season and 0 Film

1 year 8 months ago

Seeing as the Crunchyroll Expo 2022 train has no intention of stopping, a new video has hit the internet. This time, it’s a special promo video Jujutsu Kaisen showing off both the first season of the anime and scenes from the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film.

This cut of both the anime and the film is presented as a pretty cool extended music video. If you’ve never seen the show and are worried about spoilers, this is 90% action scenes that offer just about zero context.

If you wanna kick back to some great tunes and watch some terrific anime action, the Jujutsu Kaisen video can be found below.

Jujutsu Kaisen first premiered in October 2020 with the dub starting on Crunchyroll a month later. Jujutsu Kaisen 0, a prequel film based on the same numbered volume of the manga, premiered in December of last year in Japan, with the English theatrical release back in February.

Also in February came the announcement that Jujutsu Kaisen will be getting a second season.

The Reincarnation of The Strongest Exorcist In Another World Anime Starts Fresh in New Trailer

1 year 8 months ago

Crunchyroll has unveiled The Reincarnation of The Strongest Exorcist In Another World with a teaser trailer, and the show offers at least a few elements to break the Isekai mold with.

Revealed during the streaming platform’s Crunchyroll Expo 2022 event, the trailer offers the usual array of teasers and story info. Following an unknown tragedy, a man is reincarnated into a world full of magic, monsters and female characters for him to befriend and pursue romantically. He’s also blessed with special powers thanks to his reincarnated body, allowing him to stand out in his new life in ways that he otherwise couldn’t in his past life.

However, there are key elements that set the series apart from other Isekai. The main character appears to trigger his own reincarnation via a technique he learned as a renowned exorcist. Likewise, those around him don’t seem to flock to him without good reason, actively doubting whether or not he’s fit to be in their world without certain skills necessary to fend off the many threats that beset them daily.

Top this off with the concept of incorporating exorcism techniques into the plot, and there’s plenty to find intriguing about the story this series could tell.

As for the animation, it’s better than most might have expected. The character designs are clean and polished, helping them to stand out during the small animated snippets that hint at larger action set pieces and battles.

It’s worth a look for both Isekai fans and anime fans in general, and the full trailer can be viewed down below.

Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World Season 2 Revealed With an Official Trailer

1 year 8 months ago

Crunchyroll Expo 2022 has been dropping crazy announcements left and right today, such as the confirmation of a season 2 for the Tower of God anime and more. Alongside all of those announcements, we now finally have the official confirmation for season 2 of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World, which came in the form of a brand new trailer.

While no new footage was shown in the trailer, it did, however, give us a release date for sometime in 2023, though speculation seems to point to early 2023. You can catch the trailer and an official synopsis of season 1 below.

Two enemies on opposing sides of a conflict find common ground, potentially making them traitors to their countries and war-torn lovers!

We last left Alice and Iska after they rescued Alice’s sister from the Empire at the end of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World season 1, placing them on somewhat mutual ground when it finished airing back in late 2020. How their relationship will continue to grow and see their chaotic world begin to unfold in season 2 is anyone’s guess right now.

I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss Anime Trailer Revealed at Crunchyroll Expo 2022

1 year 8 months ago

The light novel series, I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss, made its debut as an anime during the Crunchyroll Expo 2022. The story will follow Aileen Lauren Dautriche when her fiance cancels their engagement, resulting in her moving on to the notorious Demon King.

You can watch the trailer from MAHO FILM on the official Crunchyroll Collection YouTube channel here:

According to the Crunchyroll description, Aileen is a villainess in an otome game, Regalia of Saints, Demons, and Maidens. In the show, she gets in the way of the main character’s love life and learns that her destiny is to be killed as an enemy of the story.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Trailer Teases New Arcs & Stress Aplenty

1 year 8 months ago

Life continues to be fraught with dilemmas in the latest trailer for Mob Psycho 100 Season 3, and protagonist Mob is at the center of it all.

Released by Crunchyroll during Crunchyroll Expo 2022, the trailer offers a new glimpse at what the series’ cast will face in the next portion of the story. All of the mainstays like Mob, Reigen and Dimple make appearances in the animation bits on display, while several others provide vocal clips hinting at a series of dilemmas that could push them into further danger.

It doesn’t start off slow and then ramp up either. Instead, the trailer jumps from moment to moment, offering glimpses of a cult worshipping Mob, Dimple expanded to a massive size due to some phenomenon and other characters attempting to make a fresh break into a better life following their defeat at Mob’s hands.

Tying everything together, though, is a central theme: Mob is currently attempting to figure out what to do once he finishes school. The stress of this mixed with everything else has him edging toward a blow-up the likes of which no one has seen before, and it’s anyone’s guess as to who or what will bring him back from the brink.

Needless to say, the animation is still as impressive as ever and provides plenty of smooth movement to marvel at even in the brief seconds of footage.

It’s a sight to behold, and the full trailer can be viewed down below.

Reborn as a Vending Machine Anime on Crunchyroll Proves the Isekai Rabbit Hole Runs Too Deep

1 year 8 months ago

Today, during Crunchyroll Expo, the animation localization and streaming giant revealed Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon.

If, like me, you thought you had seen the bottom of the isekai rabbit hole, this anime will likely prove that we were all very naive.

It’s an adaptation of the novel and light novel series “Jidouhanbaiki ni Umarekawatta Ore wa Meikyuu ni Samayou written by Hirukuma and illustrated by Ituwa Kato, published in Japan between 2016 and 2017.

It then sparked a manga illustrated by Kunieda which debuted last year on Dengeki Daioh and is still ongoing, and it’s finally getting an anime adaptation by VAP Video which will air on Chrunchiroll when it debuts at some time in the future.

This probably won’t surprise you, since Crunchyroll appears to have made a specific point of slapping in our faces pretty much every Isekai anime they can get their hands on.

If the term “isekai” is unfamiliar to you, it indicates a popular narrative trope that has the protagonist reincarnated or somehow translated into another world.

Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon tells the story of a Japanese vending machine otaku (yes, they exist) killed by a falling vending machine, because of course he would.

He reincarnates in the usual fantasy world as a… vending machine that can see and hear but cannot move. and can only use vending machine soundbites to communicate.

He meets a young girl named Lammis who is completely unable to control her own strength, and after he gives her food, they create a symbiotic relationship where she carries him on her back and his weight allows her to keep her power in check. Yes. It’s as crazy as it sounds.

You can see the trailer below, even if it doesn’t show that much.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Dash 7 Gets New Screenshots; Tunis Carthage Airport Coming Soon; Belfast & Sitka Airports Released

1 year 8 months ago

Today third-party developers had news and releases to share about aircraft and airport add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

We take the first look at the exterior of the de Havilland Canada Dash 7 by SimWorks Studios and PILOT’s, alongside a development update.

“Our full attention is focused on the Dash 7 in cooperation with PILOT’S GesmbH. The exterior model is undergoing decal placement, so we are placing rivets, panel lines and de-ice boots. After that, the aircraft will be ready to receive its last coating of dirt and grime over the detail, which will complete the exterior textures. The liveries are awaiting their “use marks” but other than that they are done, and some screenshots can be seen here. The liveries included will be British Antarctic Survey, Air Greenland, Brymon, Berjaya Air, Tyrolean and Continental. The cockpit is undergoing decal placement. Right now, all the flight instruments are marked enough for us to do flight testing. We are working on placing the rest of the labels and correcting some model flaws before falling head-first into the textures.

The flight model of the aircraft is complete, and focus on that front is on engine tuning. Right now, the engine produces the right amount of torque and RPM, so we have work to do with the propellers to get her up to speed.

Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro Season 2 Gets Trailer & Release Date

1 year 8 months ago

A new trailer has hit for the downright strangest will they/won’t they anime, Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro. If you enjoyed the first season of Senpai getting harassed by the occasionally adorable but very sadistic Nagatoro, there will be more upcoming from Crunchyroll in the form of a second season. Fittingly, season two of Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro is actually called “2nd Attack”.

You won’t have to wait all that long to be able to watch this new season for yourself, either. Episodes will start airing (subbed only at first, presumably) in January 2023.

You can see the very heavily “Senpai!” filled trailer for yourself below. There’s quite a bit of hitting. There might be more hitting than you can find in a trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super movie.

Bungo Stray Dogs Anime Returns With Dire Season 4 Trailer

1 year 8 months ago

The Bungo Stray Dogs anime is officially coming back for a fourth season, and the new cour’s trailer shows that all is not well for the Armed Detective Agency.

Revealed as part of Crunchyroll Expo 2022, the trailer doesn’t waste time establishing that the series’ protagonists are in danger. Voice bits from several characters paint a scene of the Agency being set up for a crime via a job they accepted, resulting in their arrest at the hands of another organization.

This group is the Hunting Dogs, a collection of Gifted military police members who will capture anyone that doesn’t adhere to human ethics. They’re ready and willing to chase down every member of the Armed Detective Agency to the ends of the Earth, and make a less than subtle declaration of war against the members who they aren’t able to arrest right-off.

All of this is paired with plenty of visuals and animation which hint at what’s to come. Some key highlights include what appears to be Dazai’s arrest at the hands of the Hunting Dogs, Atsushi and Kyouka trying to evade their pursuers and some clear glimpses of the Hunting Dogs’ heavy hitters. Everything looks to be animated in the same style as the past seasons too, maintaining its distinctive style while also offering plenty of movement and action.

It’s a lot to process, but also a great glimpse at what’s to come. The full trailer can be viewed down below, both via the official Crunchyroll Twitter and the official trailer released by Kadokawa.

Bioware Posts SWTOR Short Story “All That’s Left” About Sa’har Kateen

1 year 8 months ago

Yesterday, Bioware posted an interesting short story that provides some interesting lore about Sa’har Kateen, a force-sensitive Twi’lek padawan that has been a big focus of the Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) story ever since the most recent 7.1 patch update.

The short story focuses on Kateen’s journey stowing away on a transport, as she hopes to find her missing brother while also battling some heavy and emotional internal conflict. You can check out a brief excerpt from the story right down below.

“When you are ready, break free.” Darkness closes in…

She opened her eyes, but the darkness was still there. The heat and the noise told her she was still on the floor of her space on the transport. The holocron was lit by a soft glow again, dim, but steady. The overwhelming, suffocating defeat she’d felt since she escaped Elom was gone… instead, she could feel a pull in the Force, a bond connecting her to her brother, a compass guiding Sa’har to Ri’kan.

Sa’har stood, grabbed the tattered cloak she’d been hiding the holocron in, and draped the cloth over the relic. She bundled it up and stashed it with her few other belongings so she could snatch them up and run as soon as the transport reached its destination, in a few days’ time.

When they arrived, she’d have to sneak aboard a new ship, but this time, she knew where she was heading. This time, she knew what she needed to do, and who she needed to be: a warrior, a liberator, a friend… a sister.

My Hero Academia Anime Season 6 Raises the Stakes in New Trailer

1 year 8 months ago

My Hero Academia Season 6 is still a few months away from release, but the latest trailer shows there’s plenty to look forward to in the upcoming season.

Revealed during Crunchyroll Expo 2022, the trailer provides snippets of dialogue and action from the new season. Most all of it takes place during the operation that was being prepped during season 5, and most every major or minor character looks to be involved.

The trailer starts with the heroes gathering for the operation. Many speak of the importance of succeeding and thinking about what is at stake, while others gear themselves up for the fierce battle ahead. Deku and his classmates are among both these groups, and sound both determined and desperate to come out of the mission unscathed.

The villains, meanwhile, are just as determined. Some speak of the hypocrisy of the hero-focused society, while others only care about causing as much destruction as possible. Both members of the original League of Villains and the new paranormal Liberation Front make appearances, and look less than threatened by their adversaries.

This is all paired with bits and pieces of animation. While it starts off with more serene shots, the footage slowly becomes more action-packed until glimpses of brutal fights start to become apparent.

It all leads into some dire dialogue about how they can’t let a certain person get out, with animation of Shigaraki grinning menacingly at the camera.

Though brief, there’s plenty to unpack and dig into for fans. The full trailer can be viewed down below.

The DLC also received an official release date on August 8.

Oda-san also had news in store for Samurai Shodown. The game is receiving rollback netcode with a release date targeting spring 2023.

SNK is teaming up with Code Mystics for this update, which will be free. It’s based on the existing solution for The King of Fighters XV using GGPO.

It’s not coming for all platforms. We’re getting it on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. As usual, the Switch is left out.

The King of Fighter XV is currently available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Samurai Shodown is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch, and PC.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Harrier & Bendigo Airport Get New Screenshots; Belfast Shines in New Trailer

1 year 8 months ago

Third-party developers shared new assets of upcoming aircraft and airport add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

We start with DC Designs, which provided a development update about the AV-8B Harrier II, which should be released in September.

“Hi folks, more cockpit images of the Harrier in this week’s update as work progresses on the detailing and PBR texturing. It takes quite a while to go through this phase of building an aircraft, and with the Harrier’s office being a busy little place it will be at least two more weeks of work before it’s all finished.
Decals for all markings are about 50% complete, and most of the switches are now animated, with their respective functions being coded alongside the modelling work. CodenameJack is doing sterling work once again with displays and functions, broadly similar to those found in the SC Designs F-16 Fighting Falcons but tweaked to be more relevant to the Harrier.

Asobo’s pilot has been refined to move more naturally with the controls – it turns out the contact points for the controls are via the pilot’s wrist and ankles, rather than the hands and boots. Unless users have a preference for my own pilots, I’d like to start using the Asobo pilot in future products as it’s pretty good and already matches up well with everything.

There will be no update next week as I’m away for five days on a family holiday, so this will be the last you will see of the Harrier progress until August 19th. By then, I would like to have finished most of the cockpit and be underway with liveries and the AV-8B+ / GR9 variant. Sim Acoustics have said they can do the sound package in September, which ties in well with the planned release date, so it seems everything is coming together fairly well.”

Gotham Knights Cinematic Shows Bittersweet Dick Grayson & Barbara Gordon Scene

1 year 8 months ago

A new “exclusive” cinematic for Gotham Knights gives a sweet moment between Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon. While nothing is directly mentioned in the video description, it is likely this will be an in-game cutscene. It doesn’t necessarily spoil anything, but there are hints on where the story could go.

So, anyone who doesn’t want to know more ahead of the game’s release is now warned. Just to be safe, we will post the video below before talking more about it as a spoiler warning buffer.

This tender moment is obviously sometime after the death of Bruce Wayne that will kick off the events of Gotham Knight. While in the comics Dick Grayson was quick to don the Cowl after the apparent death of Bruce Wayne at the hands of Darkseid in Final Crisis, it appears this universe is a bit more tricky.

This video also confirms that Dick and Barbara were once an item but don’t seem to be anymore for reasons we might learn later on. They are an iconic couple in the comics, so it makes sense that they were together at some point.

It is likely we will see other cinematics pop up showing off Tim Drake and Jason Todd in the next couple months before release.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Accolades Trailer Celebrates the RPG’s Massively Positive Reviews

1 year 8 months ago

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has been out for a week now, so Nintendo went ahead and dropped a brand-new trailer on YouTube for the extensive Monolith Soft RPG that focuses on the many high review scores the game received last week.

The game is currently sitting at a score of 89 on Metacritic, making it one of the most highest-reviewed titles on the Switch and tied with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition.

For those unfamiliar with this new game, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is all about a group of unlikely friends who are on opposing sides of an endless war. Noah, Mio, Eunie, Taion, Lanz, and Sena band together to help free colonies across the world of Aionios from the

The trailer itself features quotes from multiple websites as well as yours truly. In our review of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Twinfinite gave the game a 4.5/5. Down below is a short excerpt from the review.

“All things considered, it’s incredible to think about how far Xenoblade has come in the last decade. With the help of a devoted fanbase, it went from being a niche game on the Wii that was only sold at GameStop in North America to being a core Nintendo franchise. The good news is that it looks like the hard work at Monolith Soft has paid off yet again.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is an absolute must-buy for Switch owners who are looking to pick up their next game. No matter if you’re a longtime fan of the franchise or a first-timer, this game is one of the best RPGs on the Switch that can easily last hundreds of hours for players who never want to leave the world of Aionios.”

The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 accolades trailer can be found down below.

How much is the EVO 2022 Prize Pool? Answered

1 year 8 months ago

EVO brings together the very best of the best in the fighting game community as they duke it out for cash prizes in tournaments for each game featured. The tournament operates a little differently from most though and has its own unique system for deciding prize pools. Here’s everything we know about the EVO 2022 prize pool.

How Much Is The EVO 2022 Prize Pool?

According to the official EVO rules, cash prizes will be awarded to the top eight competitors. The collective prize pool is determined by each competitor in the tournament who pays a $10 entry fee.

While the entry fee is pretty low, EVO tournaments can attract hundreds or thousands of competitors, so the prize pools can end up at a reasonably high total. The example provided by EVO states that if 300 people entered a tournament, then the prize pool would end up at $3000 as a result of the 300 competitors paying the $10 entry fee.

EVO then implements its system to split up the prize money between the top eight competitors at different rates, which are as follows:

1 year 8 months ago

Today, during the celebrations for EVO 2022, Atlus revealed an update for PS4 and PC versions of its fighting game Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

The update adds the much-loved rollback netcode features to both versions of the game, promising “to ensure that players across the world can experience the smoothest possible online experience when playing matches against one another. “

The best part of it all is that the update is already available, so whether you are on PS4 or PC via Steam, you can fire up the game, download the patch, and enjoy the smoother online gameplay.

At the moment, there is no mention of the Nintendo Switch version getting the update. The press release did not say a word about that. Of course, there’s no dice for the older PS3 and Xbox 360 versions either.

On top of the announcement, Atlus also released a trailer to advertise the addition of rollback netcode, which you can watch below.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is currently available PS4, Switch, and PC on March 17, alongside the older release on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Top 10 Best Scary Movies For 13-Year-Olds

1 year 8 months ago

Back in the ’80s and ’90s, there were a wealth of creepy comedy-horror movies designed specifically to scare the heck out of kids. These days, however, the sub-genre has largely fallen by the wayside.

Sure, we have 2009’s The Hole and 2015’s Goosebumps, which were both *this* close to making the final list, but it’s fair to say that getting your mitts on scary movies aimed at a young adult demographic is getting harder and harder. Star Citizen Kart is a Thing in New Video as Crowdfunding Passes $492 Million

1 year 8 months ago

Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games released a new video showing new features being added to the game.

The first part of the video showcases the Snake Pit race track on Clio released as a surprise in alpha 3.17.2, which is quite cool, but even more interesting is what comes in the second part of the video.

We see that alpha 3.8 will mark the addition of Mario Kart-style race tracks within the convention centers to be used with the small but cute Greycat PTV buggies.

You can watch it below.

In other Star Citizen news, the crowdfunding total just passed $492 million and it’s currently sitting on $492,012,019.

The number of registered accounts has recently passed 4 million, having reached 4,029,068 at the moment of this writing.

As usual, you should keep in mind that it’s known that not all of them are paying players. The number includes free accounts created for a variety of reasons, including Free Fly events like the one that recently concluded.

Recently, creative director Chris Roberts provided an overview of the state of development and of the plans for 2022 and beyond.
