Spoiler-Free Tips & Advice For Starting Watch Dogs: Legion

3 years 6 months ago

Watch Dogs: Legion is a beast of a game. Much of that has to do with the fact that you can control anyone and everyone, making it tough to decide where to go and who to recruit. After playing the game for review, I’ve come up with some helpful tips I wish I’d known during my early hours. Whether you’re new to the series or a Watch Dogs veteran, this spoiler-free beginners’ guide should help make your trip to London a smoother experience.

Start With Permadeath On

At the start of the game, players are presented with the choice to play with permadeath. If you agree, you’re free to turn it off later. Leave it off, however, and you can’t activate it for the rest of your playthrough. Unless you’re sure you don’t want to deal with losing agents for good, start with permadeath and see how you like it. I played the entire game with it on, and while losing a great agent feels like a gut-punch (often due to my own stupidity), it raises the stakes in a way that enhances the experience.

WNBA MyPlayer Mode Revealed For NBA 2K21 New-Gen Consoles

3 years 6 months ago

Headed exclusively to the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions of NBA 2K21 is a brand-new MyPlayer experience called The W. Ballers will be able to create their own WNBA player from the ground up and experience her career in a league featuring all 12 WNBA teams as well as some of its top stars.

"We're really proud to continue our great partnership with the WNBA and introduce players to The W," stated Visual Concepts senior producer Felicia Steenhouse. "Being able to recognize yourself both on and off the court is incredibly important to us. The W helps us elevate women's basketball and highlights the starpower of the WNBA."

The W also has an online mode, called, unsurprisingly, The W Online, which features 3v3 MyPlayer battles on an exclusive court.  Additionally, MyWNBA lets players take either the Commissioner's or a GM’s chair in the WNBA and grow the league from there.

While it won’t be released until November 10 on Xbox Series /|S and on November 12 for PlayStation 5, NBA 2K21 can get their eyes on WNBA player ratings today via NBA 2K social channels, starting off with the highest-rated player: Breanna Stewart at 95.

Netflix's The Witcher Season 2 Set Photo Reveals Much-Improved Nilfgaard Armor

3 years 6 months ago

Netflix's The Witcher season one did a lot of things right but one of the features that the company got absolutely wrong was that awful-looking Nilfgaardian armor. Luckily, season two offers a second chance and the latest season two set picture shows off a much-improved armor for this particular army.

The original armor in season one was awful and was often likened to some NSFW comparisons, but more than that a lot of The Witcher fans were used to see the armor represented in CD Projekt RED's game adaptation. The show is based on the books, the books that inspired the game series, which means that some creative differences were to be expected. This creative difference, however, was pretty universally hated. Luckily, the new armor looks amazing:

Microsoft said "challenge accepted" when it came to the Xbox Series X memes and how it looks like a fridge. While Microsoft has poked fun at the memes in the past on the company's TikTok, it is taking that to a whole new level with an actual console replica fridge.

Don't let those dreams be dreams, kids, because an Xbox Series X fridge could be yours and all it takes is a simple retweet. The Xbox Twitter account posted the rules on how to enter earlier today (October 28) with how to try to snag one of these for yourself:

PlayStation App Updated For Remote Game Storage Management And More

3 years 6 months ago

Can't wait for that PlayStation 5? You can get ready with the updated PlayStation App, which is expected to hit iOS and Android today. The app has a fresh look, allows for voice chat with friends, a smattering of social features, and more. However, probably the biggest hook of the updated app is the ability to remotely manage your software. You can buy games and start those hefty downloads before you get home, which will hopefully make life a lot easier on big release days.

Getting everything convenient and easy to use under one unified app is nice, but there are some potential pitfalls in our consolidated future as well. You may not care that an algorithm may be listening in to you and Uncle Jimmy discuss a fresh cut of pizza over voice chat while planning a Genshin Impact session, but you never know how things could turn out... In the meantime, update your app and get ready to download all kinds of fun stuff!

Check out the new features video below for a full look at what you can do in the PlayStation App, or go read more on the app here.

Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Didn't Know About The Delay Until The Day Of, Here's Why

3 years 6 months ago

Yesterday, Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed until December (despite already going gold) to ensure that current-gen versions of the game come closer to the high standard that the team has for the PS5 and Xbox Series X iterations. Shortly after the news, an official tweet surfaced from the day before, supposedly confirming no more delays. This mixed messaging set the internet in a frenzy. How could something so important be confirmed one day, and then incorrect the next? The answer is: When that initial response went live a day before, it was true at the time. The wider team at CD Projekt Red didn't find out about the delay until the day it was announced.

When the news broke, I spoke with several CD Projekt Red developers who confirmed they didn't know about the delay until they received an internal email shortly before the announcement went live on Twitter. When that knowledge became public, the online backlash was almost instantaneous, sparking criticism of the studio's internal communication practices and how messages are conveyed to the community. Since then, I've spoken to several more CD Projekt Red developers on both the Polish and U.S. sides; according to them, the news was shocking, but not for the reasons people are assuming.

PlayStation VR Owners Can Request A Free PlayStation 5 Camera Adapter

3 years 6 months ago

When Sony unveiled the PlayStation 5's accessories, many PlayStation VR owners understandably assumed that the PS5 camera would be compatible with their current headset. That turned out not to be the case, though some learned that after the camera went on sale alongside the soon-to-release console. Sony is making good by allowing PS VR owners to request a PlayStation 5 camera adapter free of charge.

The PS5 camera adapter connects the existing PlayStation camera (for PS4) to a PlayStation 5, allowing PS VR to work on the next-gen console. Sony is NOT giving away a PlayStation 5 camera, just to be clear. While this solves the camera issue, keep in mind that you’ll still need a DualShock 4/PlayStation Move controllers to play current PS VR games on PS5. The new DualSense won’t work.

To get your PS5 camera adapter, first you’ll need to have your PS VR serial number ready. It can be found on the headset's black processor unit, near the connector ports. Then, head over to Sony’s support website and paste it into the form. Once your headset is verified, you’ll enter your shipping address and basic info, and that’s presumably it.

Most Original Xbox, 360, And Xbox One Backwards Compatible Games Confirmed For Series X/S At Launch

3 years 6 months ago

When backwards compatibility was first announced during the Xbox One launch, the reception was less than impressive. Since then, this feature has expanded to include an incredible amount of games from the original Xbox, the 360, and, now with new gen on the horizon, Xbox One. Microsoft has confirmed that most backwards compatible games, with the exception of a few Kinect-reliant titles, are ready to rock and roll on Xbox Series X/S.

Xbox's Jason Ronald confirmed the news on Twitter after over 500,000 hours of playtesting adventures across all generations. The only exception to this are those games tied specifically to Kinect functionality, a technology that was abandoned halfway through this current gen cycle.

Remedy's Control Arrives On Nintendo Switch Today As Cloud Game

3 years 6 months ago

Now you can play Remedy's Control on the Nintendo Switch ... as long as you have a solid internet connection. During this morning's mini Nintendo Direct, the company confirmed that a cloud version of Control: Ultimate Edition is available today on its hybrid console.

Cloud-based games on the Switch are nothing new, but it is still new for players on the west. In order to get Control on that Switch system, players will need to have a Nintendo Account to be able to access the Cloud service. More than that, the internet connection must be strong in order to play the game well, performance-wise. Shoddy internet? The game could drop completely, it needs a solid connection in order to perform.

In order to test the connection, which is required to buy the game, there will be an additional launcher used to make sure that the internet is stable. This also means that interested players will need to buy an Access Pass, which comes in at $39.99.

Tomb Raider Movie Sequel Delayed Indefinitely

3 years 6 months ago

MGM has announced that they have delayed the Tomb Raider movie sequel indefinitely following its initial March 19 launch date. The reasoning behind the decision is weighted heavily on the continued impact of COVID-19 and what the pandemic has meant for the movie industry as a whole regarding theaters.

While not the only film to be impacted by the continued spread of the virus, the Tomb Raider reboot is the latest in the list of films to have an uncertain future. Starring Alicia Vikander as she reprises her role of a younger Lara Croft, the movie itself also has Ben Wheatley as the director and Amy Jump on the script. Graham King is also the producer for the sequel alongside Elizabeth Cantillon under the GK Films name.

Due to the indefinite nature of the delay, we won't have a new release date until further notice, but that doesn't mean that all hope is lost regarding the upcoming film.

As for the first film that took on the rebooted games, Vikander became Lara Croft in the 2018 Tomb Raider movie. Follwoing Croft's father's disappearance, our heroine then made a name for herself as a bike courier. When she was arrested following an altercation with the police, her father's business partner offered Croft a string of hope to follow the trail to find out what happened regarding his disappearance.

This might be one of the worst times in recent history to be pushing tabletop products given the COVID-19 crisis, but hopefully things are way better on that front by the time Metzen's new adventure bears fruit.

Microsoft Is Releasing An Official Mandalorian Controller

3 years 6 months ago

Releasing on December 31, the Mandalorian wireless Xbox One controller is coupled with a charging stand and retails for $160. It's not made of beskar steel, but it looks like it is, and carries many of the signature armor designs of the famed bounty hunter. If you flip the controller over, you'll see an image of "The Child," who is wanted and on the run with the Mandalorian. Most people call him Baby Yoda, but Lucasfilm has gone with "The Child" as his official title until his name is officially revealed.

Given the timing of release in December, it's a shame this controller doesn't have the share button or the new directional pad of the Xbox Series X/S, but it is compatible with these systems. Along with the unique artistic design, this controller has textured grips and charges through a magnetic contact system.

Interestingly, if you run out of battery during play, you can connect the controller to the stand, and, as Microsoft puts it in the official description, engage in "one-handed play while you charge." We don't know how this one-handed functionality is formatted, but the option is there if you need to use it.

Star Wars: Squadrons Is Adding Free 'The Mandalorian' Loot To Game

3 years 6 months ago

The Mandalorian was a hit when season one dropped earlier this year on Disney+ and now that a new season is here, the team over at Motive is celebrating the hit show with exclusive themed content for Star Wars: Squadrons. Despite saying no additional gear would be dropping, the studio is adding The Mandalorian loot to Star Wars: Squadrons. Don't worry, there are no surprise loot box moves here, everything announced is completely earnable.

Kicking off on October 28, Star Wars: Squadrons players will be able to earn eight new (and completely free) cosmetic items to make those Starfighters even more badass thanks to The Mandalorian. New cockpit cosmetics are included in the new drop, one for each faction. This includes one new hologram, a new decal, dashboard flair, and a hanging flair; one set for both the New Republic and the Imperial fleet.
