The Most Powerful Water Gun In The World Looks Unreal

1 year 1 month ago

Fellow mischief-makers, a new toy of soft destruction awaits our consideration. It’s called the SpyraThree, and it claims to be the world’s most powerful water gun. Based on its specs, I’m inclined to believe it. With a “tactical display,” three firing modes, and an auto-pressurizing reload feature, this thing looks…

Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos Heading to Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC

Natsume announced more details about its new Harvest Moon game. First, Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos will be a multiplatform game and appear on the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. There are also an array of screenshots showing animals, characters, and crops in the new installment. There’s no set release window yet, but it is expected to appear in 2023.

Two characters in particular show up during the new images. One is named Westley. In his screenshot, he describes himself as being a “leader” for a village. The other involves the player meeting someone named Vivi. As the player in this entry is a farmer who is traveling to multiple villages that were cut off after volcanic activity. This means the two could be from different villages.

As for the environments, a few things notable things ended up showing up in these early screenshots. We see the farmer using a Hand-Made Watering Can on the farm, in particular to water a Peach Pineapple. At a home in Providence Village, there’s what looks like a wind-up owl outside a home. There are also pictures of some animals people can own in Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos, with a cat, chicken, cow, horse, and sheep.

Here are all of the new Harvest Moon game screenshots so far.

FFVII Remake Composer Rearranged ‘Weiss the Immaculate’ by Ear

1 year 1 month ago

final fantasy vii remake weiss

On Twitter, Square Enix shared that Masashi Hamauzu, who composed “Weiss the Immaculate” for the original Final Fantasy VII, rearranged it by ear for FFVII Remake Intergrade. For some reason, he did not use the original sheet music during the process.

Square Enix also uploaded the track onto Twitter for players to listen to. The song is just over a minute and a half long.
https://twitter.com/FFVIIR_CLOUD/status/1643901361514246144

Accompanying the track on Twitter is Weiss’s cutscene from VII Remake. He is a SOLDIER in the Underground who originally appeared in the spin-off game Dirge of Cerberus. Though he was not in the original Final Fantasy VII, Weiss is in Remake as a secret boss. You can fight him in the Shinra Combat Simulator.

Masashi Hamauzu is a composer who has worked on many Final Fantasy games during his career at Square Enix. He became the leading composer after Nobuo Uematsu’s departure in 2004, and composed for Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and the FFXIII trilogy. Outside of Final Fantasy games, he has also worked on Wild Hearts, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and SaGa Frontier 2.

Tales of Asteria Memorial Book Cover Features All Protagonists

1 year 1 month ago

tales of asteria memorial book

Bandai Namco shared an illustration of all of the main characters from Tales of Asteria. This will be the cover of the memorial book that will come out after the game ends. As a reminder, you can pre-order the Tales of Asteria memorial book from Asobi Store. It will cost 9,800 JPY, which is around $74.40.

Tales of Asteria characters on the cover include Cless, Mikleo (two versions of him), Raven, Lloyd, and Velvet. While some of these characters are not the protagonists in their respective games, they were the focus ones in various Tales of Asteria parts. The story of Tales of Asteria was split over the perspective of multiple characters. Unlike other Tales mobage that featured a crossover element, it did not really make use of original characters.

After nine years of service, Tales of Asteria will close down on May 18, 2023. Bandai Namco did not give an explicit reason as to why. Aside from this memorial book, Bandai Namco will put the game’s OST onto streaming services, as well as allow players to transfer their data into Tales of the Rays. Characters will not be playable, but you will be able to see Asteria illustrations on your home screen.

1 year 1 month ago

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is now on Steam, and its Season Pass includes a Warrior of Light equipment set.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is now live on Steam, and the product page goes over the Warrior of Light equipment set people can get. This extra set of items comes with the Season Pass. When Jack wears it, they get additional perks. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

First, here's a closer look at Jack wearing the Warrior of Light equipment in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. It resembles the classic armor for the character. People also got a chance to see that in the first add-on for the game, Trials of the Dragon King.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is now on Steam, and its Season Pass includes a Warrior of Light equipment set.

However, you can’t access this additional equipment for Jack right away. It is a post-game unlock. Once you beat the main game, you will get access to it. As noted on the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Steam page, the defining characteristic is the fact that it adds “400% knight job affinity.”

RPS GOTY Revisited: 2012's Far Cry 3 is better than the games it ended up influencing

1 year 1 month ago

Look, I’m not saying Far Cry 3 is responsible for *gestures vaguely towards modern AAA games* but it’s definitely a prime suspect. If I was trying to connect a piece of red string from the middle of my evidence board (which would probably be a picture of the map screen from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla), I’m not sure I’d push a pin directly into Jason Brody’s face, but I’d definitely circle it in black Sharpie a few times. Basically, in the eleven years since its release, I’ve grown a bit suspicious of Far Cry 3’s lasting legacy.

And yet, in those halcyon days of 2012, we named it our game of the year. Although it’d be easy to simply say that decision was made a bit before my time here, I should probably admit that when reviewing the game for the blog I used to run when I was at university, I awarded it an equally prestigious (stop laughing at the back) 10/10. That almost seems ludicrous, doesn’t it? Far Cry 3? Game of the year? Surely not.

After spending a few hours revisiting the sunny shores of Rook Island, I was shocked to discover a game that feels surprisingly pure. Mechanically, I hasten to add. The actual act of playing Far Cry 3 in 2023 is still good fun, it’s the bits around it that are a bit ropey.

Dying Light Enhanced Edition is free for a week on the Epic Games Store

1 year 1 month ago

If you're in need of some entertainment to accompany your eggs this weekend, there's a generous blob of undead slaughter to be found over on the Epic Games Store, where Dying Light's Enhanced Edition is currently free for a limited time.

Dying Light's blend of spirited parkour and zombie-slaying action soon started turning heads after its launch back in 2015, and it proved successful enough - it's now sold well over 20 million copies - that it enjoyed seven years of post-launch content before developer Techland was finally ready to bring things to a close.

Dying Light Enhanced Edition, which is free on the Epic Games Store for the next seven days, features the hugely popualar base game and a selection of its post-launch DLC, including its Season Pass content and The Following expansion - which attempted to spice up the core game by slinging a rideable dune buggy into the mix.

Gran Turismo's four new 120Hz performance modes are game-changers

1 year 1 month ago

Gran Turismo 7 is one of the most fully-featured racing games ever made, with hundreds of cars, dozens of tracks and RT reflections on PS5. However, 120Hz and explicit VRR support have been missing - until the recent release of patch 1.31. What compromises are needed to add 120Hz and VRR support, and is a full 120fps even possible? We've been testing the game to find out.

First of all, it's important to set expectations. When developers mention 120Hz support they don't necessarily mean that the game will run at the full 120fps. There are many titles that run 'up to' 120fps, but what you actually get is an unlocked frame-rate in the 120Hz mode tha often fails to hit the target. That's what I expected from Gran Turismo 7 too - but the patch is actually much more interesting than that.

To get down to the basics, patch 1.31 adds four new graphical modes. You're given the choice of resolution or frame-rate mode at 120Hz, for two options, but this multiplies to four as having VRR enabled or disabled in the system menu produces very different outcomes.

Jack Black Praises HBO's The Last of Us, Wants Red Dead Redemption Movie

1 year 1 month ago

On the heels of the blockbuster release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Jack Black is singing his praises for video game adaptations. So much so that he has praised The Last of Us on HBO Max.

In an interview with BBC yesterday, Black, who voices Bowser, that he's a fan of multimedia adaptations of video games so long as they're treated right. He praised HBO's The Last of Us for how faithful it is to the hit PlayStation game.

"The Last of Us was fantastic," he said. "And what's crazy is how loyal it is to the original source material. It's basically all from the game with just a couple of tweaks. It's going to win all the awards. They used the video game almost like a storyboard and I was like. 'Whoa, this looks just the same.'"

Black also commented on how, with video game adaptations of movies and TV shows gaining traction, studios will look to adapt more games for years to come. "It will be very interesting to see what happens to the entertainment industry over the next 20 to 30 years but I think we will be seeing more and more storytelling from the gaming universe," he said.

Red Dead Redemption next?

One video game adaptation the character actor wants to see on the big screen is Red Dead Redemption from Rockstar Games, because he believes "that [has] just as good or [an] even better story than The Last of Us."

Guilty Gear Creator Reflects Back on Two Years of Strive

1 year 1 month ago

Guilty Gear series creator, Daisuke Ishiwatari, is a legend in the world of Fighting Games. He's designed some of the most memorable fighting game characters ever, written some of the best fighting game music of all time, and has been active in the scene since the late 90s. Which was why at the Arc World Tour Finals, when presented with the opportunity to pick his brain in an interview, I leapt at the opportunity.

IGN: It's been almost two years since the release of Guilty Gear Strive. Reflecting back, what is something that you're especially proud of with the game? And on the flip side of that, what's something that you kind of wish that you could have done differently or maybe better?

Ishiwatari-san: I could say a lot of things on both ends with regards to things that I am proud of. While it's not necessarily part of the game, it's more on the production side of things, I'm rather proud of being able to gather together so many talented members to put this whole project together.

IGN: And then is there anything that you think you would like to have done differently or anything on that side of it?

Ishiwatari-san: So how do I put it? Amongst different I guess you would say, competitive games, fighting games in particular have a high bar of entry. It's really hard for new people to join in on that. So if there's something that I wish I could do better next time, it's to make that a lot easier. Make it easier and simpler for people to be able to just join in the game and really start to enjoy fighting games.

Helpful Fire Emblem Engage Rafal Classes, Skills, and Emblem Rings

1 year 1 month ago

Best Fire Emblem Engage Rafal Classes, Skills, and Emblem Rings

Congratulations! You beat the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue and added Rafal, formerly known as Nil, to your party. You now have access to a Fell Child who can use an axe or transform into a dragon to attack, which is pretty cool. But you might be curious about possible other classes for Rafal in Fire Emblem Engage, as well as some skills for him to learn or Emblem Rings to equip. I’ve been experimenting with the character and have a few suggestions you could consider.

Possible Rafal Classes in Fire Emblem Engage

Okay, so, keeping Rafal as a Fell Child is a pretty good idea once you have inherited skills for him, because he can use Dragonstones. Given Nel and him are the only people who can transform, being able to fall back on and use that isn’t a bad idea! Especially since at level 25, he learns Spur Emblems, which fills the engage meters of all allies around him by one when each player phase turn begins.

Rafal really focuses on strength, dexterity, speed, and defense when you first get him, and his growth rates are best in those four stats. He also has Rivalry as his personal skill, which increases his critical rate by 10 every time an ally within two spaces defeats an enemy. So ideally you want him to act after everyone else and be around other people.

Does Final Fantasy: Stranger of Paradise Have Crossplay?

1 year 1 month ago

Stranger of Paradise Crossplay

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is now available on the PC through Steam. While initially available through the Epic Games Store, this reimagining of the first Final Fantasy game is now available on another digital storefront. However, while crossplay was not available for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin across consoles, it seems that it very well may be the same case for PC players' platforms.

Koei Tecmo's PC release of Nioh 2 allowed for Steam players to opt into playing with players who had purchased the game through the Epic Games Store. However, a prompt asking if players would like to access this type of crossplay in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin does not appear when booting up the game. Additionally, going to the "Online Settings" option shows that there are only three toggles for players. These include area matchmaking, chat customization, and if character voices will be on for using voiced chat lines.

As it stands, there is currently no crossplay for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. This goes between consoles and PCs. The specifics entail that only PlayStation players can play with PlayStation players, with the same applying to those playing on an Xbox platform. And for PC players? It seems like only Steam users can play with Steam users, and those who purchased the game from the Epic Games Store can only play with others that have bought the game on that platform.

Is Ada Wong in Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries Mode?

1 year 1 month ago

Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries Ada

The Mercenaries mode has been added to Resident Evil 4 remake through a free update patch. The classic version of Resident Evil 4 The Mercenaries featured characters such as Ada Wong, HUNK, Leon S. Kennedy and Albert Wesker, though the remake switches the roster up a bit. While assets for Ada were datamined, she is not currently available as a playable character in The Mercenaries mode of Resident Evil 4 remake. As it stands, only a total of four playable characters are available to choose from, and Ada is not among them.

That said, Ada and Wesker could potentially appear in future updates. Specifically, if Capcom chooses to release the Resident Evil 4 side campaign, Separate Ways, as paid or free DLC. Since both Ada and Wesker's files included complete animations along with some voice lines, it isn't entirely out of the question that both could appear. It could just be a matter of "when."

Until then, players can pick from Leon S. Kennedy, Luis Serra, HUNK, and Jack Krauser when it comes to playable characters in The Mercenaries. Luis has replaced Ada in terms of playable characters in Resident Evil 4 remake The Mercenaries, as Ada previously filled the roster in the original. The Mercenaries mode has changed a bit too. Each character now has a "super" ability that can be activated after getting a specific amount of kills. Overall, the objective remains the same. Kill the most amount of enemies within the time period to get a high score.

Sword Art Online Last Recollection’s Lisbeth Detailed

1 year 1 month ago

Sword Art Online Last Recollection Lisbeth

The Twitter account for the Sword Art Online game projects shared some new details about Lisbeth, who will appear in Sword Art Online: Last Recollection as the Fire Goddess Ignia. Her new design was drawn by artist abec (pronounced Abeshi), who also drew the art for the SAO light novels. Meanwhile, Kawahara Reki, the writer and creator of the original SAO novels, created this new version of Lisbeth.

In Sword Art Online: Last Recollection, Lisbeth will embody Fire Goddess Ignia. She is one of the deities of Underworld. She has the power to manipulate flames and create all kinds of objects at will. Additionally, the SAO game projects Twitter account shared key artwork of Lisbeth’s new Goddess design.

You can check out the artwork in the tweet below.
https://twitter.com/sao_gameinfo/status/1643931565355876353

Lisbeth’s main ability is called Unlimited Material Generation, and it allows her to freely generates artifacts and items from any object or resource by using her flames. Her ability can produce powerful items even if the source materials are of low quality. However, Lisbeth will need a larger amount of ingredients if that is the case. Lisbeth’s special weapon is the one-handed hammer, Ardent Heart.

Is There Multiplayer in Resident Evil 4 Remake The Mercenaries?

1 year 1 month ago

Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries Multiplayer

Available through a free update, The Mercenaries mode returns in Resident Evil 4 remake. While the original title offered a single-player experience in terms of this extra mode, Resident Evil 5 added co-op elements upon its inclusion. While multiplayer may seem like an obvious choice for The Mercenaries in Resident Evil 4 remake given Capcom's other multiplayer Resident Evil titles, this mode remains a single-player affair.

There is no multiplayer in The Mercenaries in Resident Evil 4 remake. Players instead need to clear waves of enemies alone to unlock different characters that are part of its available roster. These include HUNK, Leon S. Kennedy, Luis Serra, and Jack Krauser. Each character has a unique ability that can be used once players kill enough enemies to charge up their "super." It is unclear if more characters will be added to the roster of The Mercenaries at a later date.

However, both Ada Wong and Albert Wesker were datamined, with their animations and some voice lines existing in the game. If these characters will be available, Capcom has yet to say. Until then, players can enjoy a handful of stages and characters in the meantime.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is immediately available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC.

Helpful Fire Emblem Engage Nel Classes, Skills, and Emblem Rings

Best Fire Emblem Engage Rafal Classes, Skills, and Emblem Rings Fell Xenologue

Once you finish the Fell Xenologue in Fire Emblem Engage, Nel joins your army. She’s great as-is! It’s always handy having another dragon around. Especially since she’s also a dragon with a dragonstone that can transform. But if you want to experiment with other builds or are curious about what Emblem Rings or skills might be fun for Nel in Fire Emblem Engage, I have a few suggestions after taking her into some fights.

Possible Nel Classes in Fire Emblem Engage

Nel is in a weird place in Fire Emblem Engage! She's absolutely an incredible unit. However, while her brother is very obviously good when it comes to strength, dexterity, speed, and defense, hers are a bit lower in exchange for a bit more magic and resistance viability. This can make picking another class for her a bit difficult.

Keeping her as a Fell Child is ideal. It means you get to keep using her dragonstones. It’s a unique sort of attack both her and her brother have, so no sense squandering that and not having the only two people who can transform into dragons… transform into dragons. The Resist Emblems skill learned at level 25 in that class can be handy in multiplayer matches, when you’re dealing with other engage attacks, or during certain the main campaign.

Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries Is Available in Some Areas, But It's Missing Two Major Characters

1 year 1 month ago

Planned for release tomorrow, April 7, some players in Korea are reporting that they're able to access the remake of Resident Evil 4's Mercenary Mode early. Unfortunately, some are also saying that the mode is missing key content at the moment.

A staple of the Resident Evil games, Mercenary Mode is an arcade-style horde mode where players fight against waves of infected to compete for high scores. The original Resident Evil 4 allowed players to unlock Mercenary Mode upon completion of its campaign, but the remake has taken a different strategy, as Capcom announced the mode would be making its debut tomorrow, April 7, instead.

Players have noted that the version available to those in the previously mentioned regions is missing Ada Wong and Albert Wesker as playable characters, both of whom were in previous versions of the mode and were datamined as being in the remake as well. This has led some to speculate that perhaps Capcom intends to offer the characters as paid downloadable content in the future.
