Since Grounded's stellar launch last year - it attracted a million players within two days and 5 million within four months - the team, still relatively small at only 20 people, has continued to expand on its appealingly diminutive premise.

Twitch Confirms Source Code, Payment Numbers, User Information, And More Has Leaked

2 years 7 months ago

Twitch has responded to reports that a massive data leak has occurred, confirming that such a leak did, in fact, happen.

VideoGamesChronicle first reported that an anonymous hacker posted a 125GB link to 4chan earlier today filled with user information, payout amounts, source code, proprietary services, and more. The publication verified that those files posted on 4chan were downloadable, and it received word from an “anonymous company” that the files were legit. Still, without official word from Twitch, it wasn’t confirmed.

Now, Twitch has confirmed that the leak is real, which means the personal data of millions is out there available for download. According to VGC, all of Twitch’s source code was leaked, including comment history “going back to its early beginnings.” Furthermore, streamer payout numbers from 2019 were leaked, as were Twitch’s own internal security tools, proprietary services, and more.

Adidas Reveals New Xbox-Themed Sneakers In Honor Of Xbox’s 20th Anniversary

2 years 7 months ago

Adidas has revealed new Xbox-themed sneakers to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Xbox, and they are, as expected, very green.

Xbox announced the news today, revealing that these sneakers will represent the first time the company has teamed up with another to create shoes inspired by a console. These shoes are inspired specifically by the special edition translucent green Xbox released for the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved way back in 2001.

“The Adidas Forum Tech design balances nostalgia while embracing modern technology and is symbolic of how we look at our own Xbox history – celebrating the last 20 years and looking ahead to the limitless future of gaming,” Xbox’s blog post reads.

You can see these snazzy Xbox Adidas sneakers above, but if they don’t fit your fancy, don’t sweat: Xbox says these shoes are just the beginning of its partnership with Adidas and that over the next few months, it’ll “continue to mark our 20th anniversary by launching additional sneakers inspired by past and present Xbox console generations, including the first-ever sneaker available for purchase by our fans later this year.”

You Can No Longer Add Wallet Funds On The PS3 And Vita Stores This Month

2 years 7 months ago

If you’re a PlayStation user, you may have received an email from Sony notifying you that the company plans to change how you buy PlayStation 3 and Vita software. Beginning October 27, users will no longer be able to use credit/debit cards or PayPal to purchase digital content or add funds to their wallets directly from the PlayStation Store on either platform.

To buy anything from the PS3/Vita stores going forward, you’ll have to access the PS Store from a PS5, PS4, PC, or mobile device. From there, you can add funds using a credit/debit card, gift card, or PayPal. Once you’ve added money to your wallet, you’ll then have to return to the PS3/Vita stores to make your purchase. For more clarification, here are the steps, per Sony’s email:

1) Access PS Store via your desktop computer, mobile device, PS4 or PS5 console. 2) Use a credit or debit card, PayPal or other available payment method to add the minimum amount required to your wallet to cover the cost of the content you want to buy. You can also add funds to your wallet by redeeming a PlayStation Store gift card.

So why do you have to jump through hoops to buy Uncharted: Golden Abyss? In the email, Sony explains the measure is designed to “enhance online payment security for all PS3 and PS Vita owners.”

Pokemon Fan Gets a Custom Card of Their Cat as a Birthday Present

2 years 7 months ago

Over the years, we’ve seen Pokemon fans do a lot when it comes to customizing cards, ranging from ones that celebrate wedding anniversaries to others that create an entire 3D background. Anyone that has a pet, though, knows that there is nothing better than getting something that depicts their likeness.

That is exactly what Reddit user Frosttance showed off in a now-removed post to the Pokemon subreddit, as they revealed that their friend made them a customized Pokemon card for their cat, Pepper (aka Pepperoni), as a birthday present.

As you can see in the image above, the card is pretty detailed, featuring HP, moves, weaknesses, and even attacks. The Pepperoni V-Max Pokemon can deal 200 damage with a Pepper Punch and 20 damage for each energy card attached to both Active Pokemon using the Scratch ability.

Spooky card game Inscryption is stacking up to be a surprise GOTY contender

2 years 7 months ago

Inscryption is the next game from Pony Island and The Hex creator Daniel Mullins, and having spent two hours playing its new demo this week, this creepy deckbuilding game has immediately shot up the list of my current game of the year contenders. It's dark, it's spooky, it's compelling, and in typical Mullins style, there's a heck of a lot more going on here than meets the eye. For starters, why the heck are my cards talking to me, and why is there one with my own name and face on it?

2 years 7 months ago

Fashion Street and Incheon Arrivals are two new paid kits for The Sims 4 offering up some excellent looks based on Indian and South Korean fashion scenes. The former is inspired by Mumbai's very own Fashion Street, adding henna tattoos, wrap skirts and more. While the latter comes from Seoul's "airport style", offering the sorts of outfits celebs would be snapped in coming off an airplane. But also, they're the sorts of outfits I kinda wanna wear! Everything looks comfy and long, and I have a sudden need for a jacket that sweeps below my knees.

Grounded: Obsidian Gets Back to its Roots with Hot and Hazy Update

2 years 7 months ago

It’s no secret that Grounded, Obsidian’s backyard survival game, is very different from anything the prolific RPG developer has made before -- something the developers themselves have poked fun at in the past. But while the microscopic multiplayer adventure has seen success in its own right, even while still in preview, the upcoming Hot and Hazy update seems poised to give many fans more of what they might expect from Obsidian: lots of stats. With everything from character stats that let you upgrade your avatar’s abilities, to weapon upgrades that increase deadliness, to new armor classes with gameplay consequences, Grounded will get a whole lot nerdier and RPG-like later this month.

One of the biggest additions Hot and Hazy adds is a collectible called Milk Molars, which lets you upgrade stats like max health, max stamina, how quickly your character gets thirsty or hungry, and how many mutations you can equip at once. Going forward, not every adventurer will be the same, with players being able to upgrade their avatars in different ways by collecting and spending this new currency. Even more interesting, you’ll be able to buy group upgrades as well, which give a boost to the entire party.

Similarly, weapon upgrades will give you a chance to enhance your weapon with increased damage and durability, and even apply status effects. For example, if you collect mint candies and apply them to your weapon, it’ll give it the “fresh” status effect that bestows it with unique properties.

2 years 7 months ago

Sony may have given the PlayStation 3 and Vita stores a last minute reprieve earlier this year following a consumer backlash, but its plans to rein in its legacy services continue, with the company now announcing it'll soon be removing the option to pay for items using credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal on its older consoles.

Writing on its Discontinued PlayStation apps, features and services page, Sony says customers will no longer be able to use the aforementioned payment options to either purchase digital content or to add funds to their wallets directly from their PS3 or Vita starting on 27th October.

Nintendo Unveils Two New Splatoon 3 Weapons And One Lets You Destroy Enemies With Surround Sound

2 years 7 months ago

Nintendo’s steady (ink) stream of Splatoon 3 news continues today with the unveiling of two new weapons: The Killer Wail 5.1 and the Big Bubbler.

The company revealed these new weapons on Twitter today, with screenshots and descriptions of each. The first showcased is the Killer Wail 5.1, which is a modified version of the Killer Wail weapon seen in previous games. As the name indicates, the weapon is a riff on the 5.1 surround sound setup, which traditionally sees five standard speakers and one subwoofer speaker create a sound bubble, as it were.

In Splatoon 3, though, the character will fire off a weapon similar to the original Killer Wail while the six floating speakers move and attack on their own.

The 6 floating megaphones move on their own and attack with lasers that chase enemies. For such a dusty place, the Splatlands are brimming with shiny tech.
