This Demon Slayer Rengoku Wood Carving Is Straight Fire

2 years 10 months ago

Demon Slayer may have only had one season and a movie adapted so far, but that hasn’t stopped fans from loving the series, due in special part to its cool characters. And while Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu will always be best boys and girl, Fire Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku has quickly shot up the ranks amongst the fanbase because of his awesome design, combat prowess, and eccentric nature.

As a way of commemorating the Demon Slayer character’s quick rise to popularity, Woodart Vietnam recently made an amazing wood carving of Rengoku. And as you can see in the video below, it came out absolutely amazing.

Over the course of 28 days, Woodart Vietnam created the piece above, which they titled Demon Slayer: Rengoku Wood Carving – Glowing Tiger Flame. In total, they used three different types of wood to create the statue: Redwood and Jack Fruitwood to make the Tiger flame and mahogany to make the body of Rengoku. Three color combinations were also added to make the statue really pop.

Fullmetal Alchemist didn’t overstay its welcome with a long, drawn-out plot, and that’s a huge positive. However, it did end with many characters alluding to events in their futures that we were never able to see.

Greedfall dev shares first gameplay footage of its 18th century automaton RPG Steelrising

2 years 10 months ago

Spiders - the French studio behind the scrappy but lovable RPG likes of GreedFall and The Technomacer - has shared first gameplay footage of its offbeat new action-RPG, Steelrising.

Steelrising, if you're unfamiliar, features a deliciously high-concept premise, unfolding in a heavily reimagined version of 18th century Paris, where players are cast as Aegis, one of Marie Antoinette's automaton bodyguards, and charged with tracking down their maker in a bid to stop Louis XVI's army of rogue robots.

Steelrising got its big reveal last summer, when Spiders shared a wonderfully atmospheric teaser trailer offering a glimpse of Paris' battle-ravaged streets and glorious automaton creations. And now, following a second cinematic trailer in June, the developer has provided a first look at Steelrising's gameplay, predominantly focussing on its flashy third-person combat.

There's a new RoboCop game in the works from the team behind Terminator: Resistance

2 years 10 months ago

It's been quite some time since iconic 80s action-movie antihero RoboCop had a video game to call his own (he last appeared on PC and consoles over 18 years ago, re-emerging with a free-to-play mobile offering in 2014), but it's been revealed everybody's favourite cyborg security professional will be making a long-awaited gaming comeback in RoboCop: Rogue City.

RoboCop: Rogue City, which is set for release on PC and currently unannounced consoles some time in 2023, is the work of developer Teyon (the studio responsible for the critically savaged Terminator: Resistance and Rambo: The Video Game), and will feature an "original story" based on the events of the first three RoboCop films.

Beyond the fact that players will take on the role of RoboCop himself - "Become the iconic hero whose [sic] part man, part machine, all cop as you attempt to bring justice to the dangerous, crime-ridden streets of Old Detroit in RoboCop: Rogue City," teases publisher Nacon in its press release - specifics are currently a little scarce.

RoboCop: Rogue City Announced, Launches In 2023

2 years 10 months ago

RoboCop is making a comeback in video games with a brand-new title, RoboCop: Rogue City. The newly-announced action game is slated to launch in 2023 for yet-to-be-specified consoles and PC.

Rogue City sees good-cop-turned-cyborg Alex Murphy take on bad guys in an original story that draws on elements from the three classic films. Unfortunately, since the game’s release is pretty far out, there’s no insight on what gameplay entails. Development of Rogue City is being handled by Teyon, who previously shipped Terminator: Resistance in January 2020 (it also released an enhanced PS5 version this past April). Nacon and MGM will handle publisher duties.

“We're delighted to be teaming up with MGM to offer a new vision of a popular franchise that was created over 30 years ago. This game is the perfect fit to pursue our aim of offering different gaming experiences to the widest possible audience," said Nacon CEO Alain Falc in a press release.

The boring iconic hat man is now in Watch Dogs: Legion

2 years 10 months ago

Look, I know some of you like Aiden Pearce and the original Watch_Dogs. I've seen you on Twitter talking about how it was grittier than the games that followed. You thought Aiden was dark and haunted, like a Batman who fell down a well and landed in a cave filed with baseball caps.

I happen to think you're wrong, but I'm happy for you, really. The new Watch Dogs: Legion Bloodline DLC is out now, and it adds a bearded Capman to the most recent of Ubisoft's hackfests.

Below is the first time we've seen the game's combat in action, though.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong delayed into next year

2 years 10 months ago

Publisher Nacon has delayed the release of Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong. Originally scheduled to arrive this year, the narrative RPG is now due to launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, and PC in February 2022.

Swansong, which was announced back in 2019, is the work of Big Bad Wolf, the studio behind episodic adventure game The Council, and places players into the shoes of three different vampires, each belonging to a different clan within the vampire sect of The Camarilla.

"Weaving between their intertwined tales," Nacon explained at the time of Swansong's reveal, "the player has to confront the different points of view of his characters to unravel fact from fiction. With whispers of conspiracy, murder and power struggles, the player must protect his clan, discover the truth and above all enforce the Masquerade, the vampire law designed to conceal the existence of creatures of the night from humans."
