The slick cyberpunk action game Ghostrunner is due to hit PS4, Xbox One, and PC later this year, and a new trailer has been released in time for the virtual Gamescom celebration. If you're looking to get your hands on the game prior to launch, beta registration has opened up, as well.
In the 30-second trailer released for Gamescom, we see Ghostrunner's lightning-fast action and combat on full display. Characters are killed with just one hit, making every battle a test of precision and reflexes. You're capable of dodging bullets, as well, and your impressive parkour moves keep everything moving at a rapid pace.
All of these moves need to be used fully in order to climb the game's Dharma Tower, which is "humanity's last shelter" following an apocalyptic event. In classic cyberpunk fashion, a powerful baddie holding all the cards awaits you. It looks like an extremely fast and fluid take on Dishonored, replacing the supernatural powers for high-tech weapons and style.
Continue Reading at GameSpotFortnite players have found a home for some imaginative levels in the game's creative mode. But despite Fortnite's battle royale mode receiving regular and hefty updates, the creative mode hasn't received many of the items and features that other modes have. Players are getting frustrated.
"They’re really neglecting it," said Redditor NexusGaming2020. "If I were optimistic I would say maybe they are waiting for a big update but I’m not sure."
The creative mode hasn't received any vehicles; ; boats, helicopters, or the new cars brought on with the Joy Ride update haven't been added. They also haven't received many of the new weapons or items, like the upgrade station featured in recent battle royale seasons. Some items have been accidentally added to the mode, but Epic ended up removing them.
Continue Reading at GameSpotEiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is an upcoming RPG billed as a spiritual successor to the Suikoden series, and the pitch videos we've seen thus far are very impressive. They're so impressive, in fact, that the game managed to get more than $4.5 million in Kickstarter donations before its campaign ended on Saturday.
This impressive figure puts Eiyuden Chronicle as the third-biggest video game Kickstarter in history, trailing only Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and Shenmue 3. Those games were both essentially successors to existing series, as well, with Shenmue 3 being an official sequel while Bloodstained acted as a spiritual successor to the dormant Castlevania series.
Because Eiyuden Chronicle destroyed its initial funding goal of only around $500,000, developer Rabbit & Bear studios added many stretch goals during the campaign, and all of them were reached. This included a battle defense mode, asynchronous mode, new characters, card battle mode, and a full orchestra for the music. It will also have Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, and Russian localization because of the funding.

Recent Naughty Dog games haven’t just been praised for their story; they’ve also been lauded for their photorealistic graphics, from the stunning vistas to the character models themselves. The Last of Us Part II is the latest project from Naughty Dog, and it boasts some of the most realistic facial animations we’ve ever seen in video games.
In a PlayStation Blog post, Ellie’s fixation on a painting in a synagogue is used as the starting example of how incredible the animation is. As the camera angles towards the painting, Ellie has an expression that almost suggests that she’s studying the painting as well, as if she’s contemplating the meaning behind it.
The trick, apparently, lies in player input and a whole array of emotions and expressions that the animators have programmed for the characters.
According to Keith Paciello, the studio animator for The Last of Us Part II:
Narga, who we last saw on this site mastering Warcraft cosplay, is now doing the same for The Witcher 3. This Ciri is just perfect, from the outfit to the scars.
Today Compile Heart announced a delay for the Japanese release of upcoming dungeon-crawling JRPG Mary Skelter Finale.
The former release date was on October 8, 2020, while now the game is scheduled to hit the shelves a month later, on November 5. Luckily, it’s not a giant delay.
The reason for the shift in release date hasn’t been detailed beyond “various circumstances.”
This is the second time Mary Skelter Finale is delayed. It was originally planned for a launch in Japan on August 27, but Compile Heart delayed it back in June.
At the moment, no western release has been announced, so we’ll have to wait and see whether Idea Factory international will announce it down the line. We don’t know whether this delay has affected probable plans for North America and Europe.
It’d also be interesting to see whether it’d lose the PS4 version in the west, as it happened with its predecessor.
For now, you can take a look at the latest video, an older trailer, another featuring the opening cutscene, and some gameplay from a while ago.
The August 28-30 weekend saw the biggest box office results of any weekend since the COVID-19 pandemic closed cinemas back in March, with The New Mutants leading a weekend that, while extremely quiet by pre-COVID standards, was big for 2020.
Variety is reporting that The New Mutants earned around $7 million for the weekend, following a $750,000 take from Thursday previews. This is well above the $4 million Unhinged earned the previous weekend. According to Box Office Mojo, cinemas around the US earned around $11 million over the weekend.
This is a funny ending to The New Mutants' long, strange road to a cinema release--the film wrapped in 2017, and was initially planned for a 2018 release. It finally settled into an April 2020 release date after numerous delays--but then had to be pushed back.

Now, the actor behind Frank Woods in previous Black Ops games has opened up at his disappointment at the recasting.
In a lengthy video, Burns opens up about how it feels to see someone else playing his character. Although he's diplomatic about the new actor (who has not been publicly named), he's also clearly disappointed.
In an excerpt posted to Reddit (and picked up on by Eurogamer), Burns talks about how his previous performances, and his knowledge of the character's backstory, would have informed his performance.
Continue Reading at GameSpotVigor is coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 later this year. The online shooter, which launched on Switch earlier this year, will also go free-to-play on Nintendo's platform--right now, you can only play with a $20 Founder's Pack purchase.
IGN has revealed, as part of their Gamescom 2020 coverage, that the game will come to the PS4 on November 25, and over the holiday period for PS5 (the system's release date has not been announced yet). For Switch players, you'll be able to play the game without a purchase from September 23.
Vigor is a multiplayer online loot-shooter set in a post-apocalyptic Norway, in which players have to team up to stay alive and overcome the challenges of the environment.
The Switch version released alongside Season 4 of the game; that will have likely ended by the time the PlayStation version of the game drops.
Continue Reading at GameSpotTwelve Minutes, the upcoming adventure game from Annapurna Interactive set inside a time loop that players experience repeatedly, has some major Hollywood stars in it--James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe. Now, in a new behind-the-scenes video, McAvoy, Ridley, and creative director Luis Antonio have talked more about what to expect from the game.
Antonio says that originally the game was smaller in scope: "It was going to be a short game, and I was doing everything." However, he eventually realized that if he could "go a little further," things could get more interesting, and more options would be available to him. According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Antonio started working on the concept back in 2013.
The video, below, shows that while Ridley and McAvoy recorded together, they did so while separated by a barrier. Dafoe recorded his lines separately in Rome. According to McAvoy, the game is "about the danger of truly examining within," and Ridley says that the game is about how you deal with your own truth and the truth of those around you, saying it will mean "different things for different people."

Death is a concept explored in most every medium, but few could hope to express the emotions surrounding it the way interactive mediums like gaming can. Enter Spiritfarer, easily one of the most thoughtful games to ever explore the concept and one of the best titles of the year, even if it stumbles technically.
It starts off simply enough, providing a straightforward yet fantastical premise. Players take the role of Stella, a young woman tasked with taking over for Charon as the guide and Ferrier of departed souls. She must travel an expanse of ethereal sea in search of lingering Spirits, taking them aboard an ark of a ship she has inherited and helping them come to terms with regrets from their pasts.
What helps them come to terms can vary wildly though. Some may ask the player for a meal, item or knickknack from their childhood, eliciting memories of a time long-gone. Others may wish to search for a lost love in an area of the sea only accessible by upgrading the ship into a stronger variant, requiring the player to track down the resources necessary to make the improvements.
Mary Skelter Finale will now release on November 5, 2020.

The more I see of Minecraft, the more I’m convinced that we all live in a simulation. Possibly one that’s also inside Minecraft, and running some fancy shaders. I don’t make that claim lightly. Like all conspiracy theorists, I have proof that you cannot dispute. Prepare yourself for a reality check. Below are some dazzlingly intricate pieces of computing, but rendered entirely inside Mojang’s blocky world-builder. And if Minecraft is capable of running in-game PCs, then we’re all just Creepers waiting to explode.
