That’s right, we’re here with more zombie goodness. But this time, it’s coming straight from the franchise that catapulted zombie infection stories back into the limelight: The Walking Dead. Maybe you missed out on Skydance Interactive’s popular Saints & Sinners VR game that dropped a few years ago. A free content update, called the Aftershocks, is on the way and promises a good portion of new story content, collectibles, and tools to help survive the scourge in New Orleans.
Click here to watch embedded mediaThe update will be available to players that have already completed Saints & Sinners’ main campaign mode. There’s already over 20 hours of game to enjoy, so the Aftershocks Update looks to amplify and bolster the fun and horror. You can watch the trailer above. Based on an emailed press release, Skydance Interactive still has plans to introduce more content to the VR title. Saints & Sinners earned a spot on our Best VR Games For Your Oculus Quest 2 list, so be sure to check that out for other interesting VR experiences.
Following yesterday’s tease, Nippon Ichi Software launched another video about its upcoming and mysterious new game.
The trailer showcases the same scene as the previous one, but ends mentioning “Game Title” and a date, August 5, 2021. That’s in less than 24 hours, considering Japan’s timezone.
This appears to indicate that we’ll know the title of the new game tomorrow. Incidentally, that also marks the release of the new issue of Famitsu, so the reveal of the game might happen on the popular magazine (this isn’t officially confirmed, mind you. It’s just my speculation).
You can watch the video below.
Of course, you can expect to read it here as soon as the full reveal is made, but for now, your guess is as good as mine.
We do know that it’s a console game because it’s in the “consumer” area of Nippon Ichi’s website, and that’s how Japan categorizes consoles.

So what the hell is it? It's five comedians from the writer's room of Two Minutes to Late Night deep in conversation in a sort of "How Did This Get Made?" but for critically panned albums across various genres of music. For instance, the first episode takes a look at the latest Weezer album, Van Weezer, and asks, "But why?"
If you're not familiar with Two Minutes to Late Night you should fix that! What started off as a heavy metal themed late-night show has expanded into a series of Bedroom Covers that debuted early on in the pandemic, not just entertaining music fans who were staying home, but also helping musicians get paid when venues began to close down. They're also the minds behind some amazing sketches, like my personal favorite, Poseur Cops.
Microsoft revealed a huge list of games coming to the Xbox Game Pass service for PC, consoles, and the cloud for the first half of the month of August.
This Thursday, Aug. 5 will see the biggest drop of games with titles including Katamari, Lumines, and the original Skate via EA Play. The full list for that day contains:
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to play several Codemasters games on consoles via EA Play starting on Aug. 10 such as Dirt 4, Dirt Rally, Dirt Rally 2.0, F1 2020, and Grid.
Rounding out the first half of the month will add Art of Rally for cloud, console, and PC on Aug. 12 followed by Supergiant Games’ roguelike Hades on Aug. 13 for cloud, console, and PC. The final game of the list is Microsoft Solitaire Collection: Premium Edition for PC on Aug. 17, which offers an ad-free version of the classic title.
Microsoft also announced a few games leaving Xbox Game Pass during the month including:
The Game of Life: Super Mario Edition is out now and instead of being about living in the Mushroom Kingdom, it's about fighting Bowser.

Earlier this week, we reported a joint lawsuit with Bungie and Ubisoft that focuses on a notorious hacker ring that sells cheats as a subscription service for games like Destiny 2 and Rainbow Six Siege. The lawsuit is going after those profiting from "destroying the integrity of the online experience," which centers around intellectual property disputes rather than simply cheating. To learn more about the law behind the suit, Game Informer gleaned insight from a lawyer that specializes in exactly this type of case.
Ryan Meyer is an attorney that specializes in intellectual property as part of the international law firm known as Dorsey & Whitney. His focus primarily targets IP infringement within the games industry and tells Game Informer that the recent lawsuit is just the latest in a growing trend of studios looking to lessen the scope of those that make money off of breaking their property. It is important to remember that while studios have been making strides at banning cheaters from their games, lawsuits related to this sort of online activity primarily focus on the monetization of IPs that do not belong to those behind these types of hacks.
Developer Funselektor Labs acclaimed minimalist racer, Art of Rally, will finally be making its way to Switch and Xbox next Thursday, 12th August.
Art of Rally, which initially launched on PC toward the end of last year, delivers a top-down, faintly retro twist on the rally racing formula, sending players careening across low-poly renditions of Finland, Germany, Japan, Norway, and Sardinia as they tackle its 60 rally stages.
It features 61 "iconic" rally cars from the 60s to the 80s, and includes daily and weekly leaderboard challenges, ghost racing, and more alongside its sizeable career mode - all unfolding to the beat of Art of Rally's delicious, 80s-hued synth soundtrack.

One of Sonic the Hedgehog 2’s most satisfying moments comes in taking down Dr. Robotnik/Eggman’s Death Egg Robot (which is technically a mech when you really think about it but we won’t split hairs). Jakks Pacific agrees, because it has created a toy replica of the iconic boss battle so that you can take it down all over again in real life.
Nerdist first spotted the new toy, dubbed the Giant Eggman Robot Battle Set. Besides dropping the name “Death Egg” likely due to reasons of children, the impressive figure stands at 9 inches and sports bells and whistles such as articulated limbs, shooting hand missiles, and retractable jetpack flames.
Orbx just released its Great Britain Central add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator on PC, with an Xbox release expected to follow soon.
This add-on is the first major release of its kind (at least to my knowledge) as it doesn’t just focus on adding detail and landmarks to a single city or a small area, but to an entire region, the whole central part of England.
It’s available on Orbx Direct for $13.45, which means it can benefit from the publisher’s own Orbx Central client for installation and updates. It’ll also come to the official marketplace, at which point it’ll be available for Xbox Series X|S as well.
The concept for this add-on is inherited from previous simulators, which require extensive and expensive add-ons for their landscape to look even close to decent by today’s industry standards.
Today Microsoft revealed another special edition color for its popular Xbox Wireless controller, called “Aqua Shift.”
The new color is pretty much what it says on the tin, but it comes with a special shiny effect on the shell and a dual-color swirl on the rubberized grips.
It’s currently available for pre-order for $69.99 and it’ll release at the end of the month, on August 31. Of course, it’s compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and mobile.
You can see what it looks like and read an official description below.
If you’ve been following the zombie video game scene for a while, you probably dedicated a few hundred or more hours to Turtle Rock Studios’ Left 4 Dead series. The four-player co-op FPS took the world by storm over a decade ago and its sequel brilliantly continued the zombie-slaying goodness. If you’re feeling a little nostalgic in anticipation of the upcoming Back 4 Blood, then maybe you should drop into Zombie Army 4 because the main characters from Left 4 Dead 2 are now playable in a free DLC package.

In the wake of a lawsuit detailing a sickening culture of harassment at Activision Blizzard, the Overwatch and Call of Duty publisher is starting to bleed sponsorships. As spotted by the esports site Dexerto, T-Mobile has apparently pulled support for the professional leagues of both games.
Usually, releasing new aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator is left to third-party developers, but Microsoft is occasionally launching its own DLC.
This is the case with the Aviat Husky A-1C that has just been launched today, similarly to the Top Rudder Solo 103 ultralight.
The pricing has also been revealed, and it’s $14.99 or €14.99 depending on where you live. The package doesn’t include just the aircraft (in four versions, standard, tundra wheels, floats, and skis), but also ten colorful liveries.
This reproduces the most powerful version of the Husky, certified in 2007 and equipped with a 200 hp engine that makes it the ideal aircraft for exploration.
Since this is released directly by Microsoft, it’s available both for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
Below you can see what it looks like in a trailer. I added a few screenshots of the cockpit since the trailer doesn’t show it.
It’s worth mentioning that we already know that Microsoft will also release a Junkers Ju 52 soon (it was announced for this month) and an ATR 42/72 next year.

The best place to advertise an upcoming game is inside one of your current games, it seems. That’s what Ubisoft are doing with the latest Rainbow Six: Siege event, called “Containment”. The event is inspired by the upcoming Rainbow Six: Extraction, and gleefully messes with Siege’s set-up. It’s a PVP challenge where a team of Rainbow Six operators are pitted against a group of infected alien doppelgangers protecting their nests.
Skydance Interactive has today announced that its acclaimed VR shooter, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, is set to launch a major free content expansion next month. Called Aftershocks, the update will be available for players to download beginning Sept. 23 across Oculus Quest, PlayStation VR, and PC VR headsets.
The Aftershocks Update features over 20 hours of new content in the form of missions, collectibles, and survival tools to use as they traverse the undead city of New Orleans. The downloadable content will be available to those that have completed the main campaign in The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners.
A new trailer today showcases some of what players can look forward to next month:
For those not up to speed, Sinners & Saints, revealed in October of last year, is based on the popular Walking Dead AMC TV series license. It’s set in New Orleans, where people are struggling to survive attacks from hordes of the undead and warring factions of humans who seek to control territory and supplies. Players have the option to court the various factions or play them against each other. Gameplay involves combat, stealth, crafting, and a choice-based dialog system.
On July 23rd, two of the video game industry’s biggest companies filed a joint lawsuit to take down a cheating ring that allegedly sold services for their top games. According to TorrentFreak, Bungie and Ubisoft filed the suit in the California state district against members of the company known as Ring-1. The defendants named in the suit go by the usernames Krypto (Andrew Thorpe), Overpowered (Jonathan Agueda), and Grizzy (Wesam Mohammed), and the complaints include allegations of copyright and trademark infringement, as well as intentional interference with contractual relations.

Before we get to the meat of this article, I need to establish something important: I love violent videogames. Ever since Nintendo enabled my very specific childhood fantasy of being a mustachioed Italian plumber happy slapping random reptiles, I’ve been hooked. I was one of the original pixel-addled kids The Mail warned you about. When Mortal Kombat came out, with its hyper-realistic gore and enticing BBFC age rating, I went to extreme measures to secure a copy (asking my mum really nicely). Videogame writers may be stereotyped as a bunch of soft, hippy peaceniks, but not me. I was raised on the mean streets of Peterborough and I’m hard. Like, Ross Kemp hard.
So please keep that in mind when I say that I really want videogame developers to stop making me kill guard dogs. I absolutely abhor it. They come bounding up to you, like they just want to give you a big, sloppy kiss, and they always make a sad little yelp when they die. Always. What kind of monster thinks that’s a good time?
Annapurna really stretched the limits of notE3 by putting on their inaugural showcase so late in the day, but I’m glad they did. They showed off a lot of cool things, like Neon White and Stray. We even got the briefest of looks at the upcoming Outer Wilds DLC.
A new Back 4 Blood beta period is on the way, this time including a little more content to dive into before the Left 4 Dead spiritual successor arrives later this year. For those itching to get into the action, here is everything you need to know before jumping into the Back 4 Blood beta.

Back 4 Blood beta players will also be able to play as Mom for the first time as well as other characters such as Evangelo, Holly, Walker, and Hoffman.

A lunchtime Twitter scroll brought Selaco to my attention, a sci-fi FPS that’s heavily influenced by F.E.A.R. and built in the GZDoom engine. I clicked on the clip expecting to be underwhelmed, but I was delighted to be proven wrong. There’s better action in the 20 seconds below than any of F.E.A.R’s sequels.

Microsoft has now published its full list of games arriving on Xbox Game Pass this month, and it seems like a particularly busy one - with several indie darlings and Codemasters games set to join the mix.

McDonald's Australia prototyped this mouth-watering PlayStation 5 controller and intended to give away 50 of them during a week of video game live streams that served as a fun way of celebrating the company's 50th anniversary. McDonald's Australia quickly backtracked from the giveaway, and IGN learned that the controller was shown in error and was not going to be made. In a statement sent to IGN, McDonald's says, "there is no commercial relationship between McDonald's Australia and Sony PlayStation."
Press Start received additional statements from McDonald's that say that Sony hasn't authorized the use of the controller for any promotional materials with the company and that the streaming celebration has been delayed. McDonald's will now be giving away 50 channel subscriptions and Macca's 50th Birthday Hoodies when the streams return.
