Overwatch 2 - Moira Hero Guide

1 year 6 months ago

Overwatch 2 launched with new modes, new heroes, and new maps, but it also brought over the entire Overwatch hero roster. That means heroes like Moira have returned in the sequel to the hero shooter, although most of them have been adjusted to match the new 5v5 modes. Here's how to best utilize one of the best damage dealing supports in Overwatch 2. You can see how all heroes, including this one, stack up in our Overwatch 2 tank tier list, DPS tier list, and support tier list. Where did your favorite land?

Moira overview

Moira is a support hero that has a high capacity for damage, making her a strong dual-threat. Moira heals by spraying out a healing mist with her main fire, which is limited by a meter. That meter can be refilled with the alt-fire, a damaging beam attack that locks onto enemies within range. She has an orb, which she can throw, choosing to either heal teammates or damage the enemy based on the situation. Her ultimate ability is a long-range beam that heals teammates in its path and damages enemies.

Moira abilities

Biotic Grasp: Main fire heals enemies in front of you. Alt-fire is a longer-ranged beam that deals damage. Using the heals depletes a meter while using the damage fills it.

Biotic Orb: Launch a bouncing orb that you can choose to either heal teammates or damage enemies.

Fade: Disappear, move faster and become invulnerable. Cannot shoot during this.

Coalescence: Fire a beam that heals teammates and damages enemies.

Gotham Knights Co-op Details: Cross-play, Private Games, And More Explained

1 year 6 months ago

Gotham Knights, like many games that offer the choice, is better in co-op. Beating up evil-doers is simply more fun when you have a sidekick. Of course, in this game, you're both technically sidekicks, but since Batman is dead, it'll be up to you to defend the city that meant everything to him. In this guide, we'll walk you through your co-op options within Gotham Knights, including an explainer on cross-play, details on the forthcoming four-player mode, and a guide on how to change the privacy of your game so you can or can't be joined by others.

Gotham Knights cross-play

The big burning question is whether Gotham Knights has cross-play or not. The answer, which will disappoint some players, is it does not. You'll be limited to playing as Batgirl, Robin, Red Hood, or Nightwing with your co-op partner on the same platform, be it Xbox, PC, or PS5. As the last-gen versions were also scrapped, there's no cross-gen play either. It's a simple solution, though likely not the one people were hoping for.

Gotham Knights solo, co-op, and open lobbies

Gotham Knights is better in co-op. We really believe that. However, you might disagree, and that's fine. You can change your session settings to one of three options whenever you feel like it. When you're playing, just press left on the D-pad to open up a menu that includes photo mode, emotes, and a vaguely internet-looking icon. It's in that section that you can change the visibility of your session, either making it invite-only (essentially solo until you say otherwise), open to friends, or open to all players. If you select open to all players, the game seems to prioritize getting you paired up with someone quickly--even signified by the option's menu icon: "SOS."

How Long Is Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Campaign?

1 year 6 months ago

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's campaign is currently available in early access, featuring the familiar face of Captain Price and a fully-assembled Task Force 141 on a brand-new blockbuster mission to stop stolen missiles from being used in a revenge plot against the United States. If you're looking to set aside some time to play Modern Warfare 2's campaign, here's everything you need to know.

How long does it take to beat CoD: MW2's campaign?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's campaign includes 17 story missions, and you can expect to carve out around five to six hours of game time to complete the campaign on the Regular "normal" difficulty setting. This doesn't steer too far away from Modern Warfare 2019, which featured a campaign length of about 5 hours.

For my first experience, playing Modern Warfare 2 on Regular difficulty did take me a bit beyond the six-hour mark, and that's longer than my usual campaign efforts. This year's story features some missions that are less linear than we've seen in previous campaigns, as you sometimes have more open-world environments to explore and choose how you want to approach your objectives.

Brand-New DualShock 4 Controllers Are Only $32 Right Now

1 year 6 months ago

The DualShock line of controllers ended with the PlayStation 4 generation, but if you've been looking for a mint-in-box version of the DualSense predecessor, you can grab one right now for a bargain. Over on eBay, the still-excellent controllers are on sale from a licensed Sony reseller for just $40. These are brand-new controllers, and Antonline is a Sony authorized reseller. It's hard to find DualShock 4 controllers at this price in general, so getting a new one at this price makes it even better.

You can get an even bigger discount on them with the promo code COUNTDOWN22, dropping the price to just $32 for either a Glacial White or a Green Camouflage version. As for why one of these controllers is worth having in an age where they've been replaced by the more advanced DualSense, there are a few good reasons to grab a classic peripheral.

Here's where you'll play Trials of Osiris this weekend and what weapons you can earn for going flawless. You can also see where Xur is, and if the Agent of the Nine's inventory can help give you an edge in the arena after this week's mid-season weapon-tuning update.

Map: The Burnout

  • Reputation Rank 4: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 7: Enhancement Prism (3)
  • Reputation Rank 10: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Reputation Rank 13: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 16: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Flawless Reward: Reed’s Regret (Adept)

Trials weapons now carry the Alacrity Origin Trait. It gives you increased aim assist, reload speed, stability, and range on your Trials guns when you're the last living member of a fireteam or running solo. You can also choose to swap to the Crucible Origin trait, One Quiet Moment, which greatly enhances your gun's reload speed when you reload while out of combat.

As always, Trials becomes available from Friday's daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET until the weekly reset at the same time the following Tuesday. During that time, you can also pay a visit to Xur to see what Exotics he's selling. Make sure to pay a visit to Saint-14 in the Tower to pick up a Trials card, which will dictate certain bonuses (such as whether you get bonus rewards at certain milestones or if a loss will be forgiven).

The Callisto Protocol Goes Gold Ahead Of December Release

1 year 6 months ago

The Callisto Protocol, the next game from Dead Space and Call of Duty veteran Glen Schofield, has gone gold. This means development on the game is finished to a point where it is ready to be printed on discs. The developers at Striking Distance Studios aren't just sitting around until the game's December 2 release date, however, as it's understood that work continues after this milestone.

In any event, "going gold" is a major milestone in a game's development, and it means The Callisto Protocol is one step closer to releasing in stores and digitally. This is Striking Distance's first game.

Resident Evil 4's Remake Looks Stunning In New Story Trailer

1 year 6 months ago

Resident Evil 4 remake gameplay

Capcom held a special Resident Evil showcase yesterday, revealing more about the upcoming Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, that game's Shadows of Rose DLC, and its remake of Resident Evil 4.

Capcom revealed that it was remaking the beloved classic earlier this year, giving it a March 24, 2023 release date. Now, the company has released a second trailer for Resident Evil 4 and simply put, this game looks stunning. It wasn't a surprise when Capcom revealed it was remaking Resident Evil 4 – it was next in line after all – but given how well-regarded the original is, plenty of people were skeptical this remake would live up to its legacy. Capcom is deadset on proving skeptics wrong if yesterday's trailer is any indication.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope Review – Refining The Formula

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Review

Reviewed on: Switch
Platform: Switch
Publisher: Ubisoft
Developer: Ubisoft Milan, Ubisoft Paris
Release:
Rating: Everyone 10+

2017's Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle proved naysayers wrong by offering a well-crafted tactics game that successfully blends two very disparate franchises. Its sequel, Sparks of Hope, now must live up to fan excitement rather than dispel their doubt. Ubisoft Milan accomplishes this feat by returning to the drawing board, reworking its template, and creating a more streamlined, dynamic experience that maintains strategic depth. The core combat remains strong, but Ubisoft fleshed out the rest of the offerings to create a more wholly engaging package.

Sparks of Hope plays identically to the last game; you’ll engage in tactical turn-based battles as a squad of Mario icons and their Rabbid doppelgängers. However, the grid-based movement is gone. Instead, you freely move your three-member team as you would in a standard third-person game. The game still restricts you to a character’s movement range, but positioning feels more natural and kinetic, expanding your offensive flexibility.

One of my biggest gripes with the mainline Borderlands series is its humor. I’ve had some good laughs while playing, but Borderlands’ jokes land more like a shotgun blast where some hit and others don’t. That’s okay in bursts, but shotgun blast after shotgun blast can get exhausting. Telltale Games’ take on this universe, Tales From The Borderlands, remedied this by providing a more nuanced and subtle take on the humor coursing through the franchise’s veins. It became one of my favorite Borderlands games, with a great story and memorable characters.

Genshin Impact Animation Focuses on Mondstadt

1 year 6 months ago

genshin impact mondstadt animation

Though the official ufotable Genshin Impact anime is still off in the distant future, HoYoVerse has released an animation about Mondstadt in cooperation with Sun Creature Studio. It is likely the first in a new series, with videos about other regions such as Liyue appearing in the future. Titled “Scenery and Sentiment: Mondstadt Edition”, the video is a two-minute long animation that focuses on the natural surroundings of the Mondstadt region. Aside from locales, there are plenty of Easter eggs such as local specialties and NPCs.

Genshin Impact players should be extremely familiar with Mondstadt at this point. It is the first nation you explore, after all. It is also the setting of the game's first major story part. There have been multiple events centering around Mondstadt as well, such as the recent “Of Ballads and Brew” event and last year’s Windblume Festival. The “Of Ballads and Brew” event in Mondstadt very recently ended, which means players who missed it also missed the chance to obtain the Missive Windspear.

Here are Dion Lesage and Barnabas Tharmr of Final Fantasy XVI

1 year 6 months ago

final fantasy xvi dion barnabas

With the release of the “Ambition” trailer for Final Fantasy XVI, Square Enix has begun the game's promotional cycle in earnest. New updates have expanded character profiles and revealed information on major Final Fantasy XVI characters Dion Lesage and Barnabas Tharmr. Both of them are Dominants, special individuals able to call on the power of an Eikon. The nations of Valisthea treat their Dominants differently, with some revered like royalty, and others bound like disposable tools. Dion is the Dominant of Bahamut and Barnabas the Dominant of Odin.

Square Enix shared more details on their personalities and titles in a blog post, and via an update to the official Final Fantasy XVI website. Dion Lesage is, besides being Dominant of Bahamut, the crown prince of the theocratic Holy Empire of Sanbreque. He is also the leader of the Dragoons, a feared order of knights. Like a dragoons, he wields a spear, and he may have a plunge-oriented battle style. The people of Sanbreque love Dion, and he is often the subject of songs due to his heroism and power. However, the blog post hints that something terrible will befall Dion in the plot of Final Fantasy XVI.

Trails into Reverie Confirmed for Summer 2023 Launch

trails into reverie opening

NIS America has confirmed that The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie (a.k.a. Hajimari no Kiseki) is coming next year, with a Summer 2023 release window, and will include a PS5 version. It also uploaded the opening movie for the game. The movie is around two minutes long, and features the cast of both the Crossbell and Erebonia sagas.

Trails into Reverie came out in Japan in 2020 for the PS4. Nihon Falcom later ported it to the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC in 2021. With the 2023 PS5 release, this will be the first time part of the Trails series has appeared on next-gen platforms. Reverie serves as a conclusion to Lloyd Bannings’ Crossbell arc (covered in Trails from Zero/to Azure), as well as Rean Schwarzer’s Erebonia arc (Trails of Cold Steel series). It also serves as a prelude of sorts to the Kuro no Kiseki games, which do not yet have international release windows.

You can watch the opening movie for The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie below. There are no major spoilers for either series in the opening.

Azur Lane Royal Fortune Will Form New Pirate Faction Tempesta

Azur Lane Royal Fortune forming new pirate faction Tempesta

The 18th-century pirate frigate Royal Fortune will appear in Azur Lane. The mobile game's Japanese and English Twitter accounts introduced the new shipgirl, which will set up a new faction named Tempesta and add Sailing Frigate as a new ship type.

Commanders will be able to obtain Royal Fortune during the "Halloween Hijinks" event, which is slated to run around the 2022 Halloween season. This event will also add the World War II-era destroyer HMS Janus to the playable roster.

Despite having a similar name, there is no relation to the World War II-era F-class destroyer from the United Kingdom's Royal Navy, HMS Fortune. Royal Fortune was one of the most preferred ship names from Bartholomew Roberts, a famed Welsh pirate from the early 18th century. The final ship to receive the name Royal Fortune was a frigate originally named Onslow, which the pirate then outfitted with forty cannons. She was the flagship when Roberts fought his last battle at Cape Lopez in 1722.

Capcom Details Resident Evil Re:Verse Early Access Plans

1 year 6 months ago

Resident Evil Re:Verse

Resident Evil was a pioneer of "survival horror", but this year Capcom will make it a pioneer of "survival revenge". That's the dynamic of Resident Evil Re:Verse, a new title focused on competitive multiplayer. Originally supposed to launch in mid-2021, Re:Verse was delayed into 2022. Now it's set to launch on October 28, alongside Resident Evil Village Gold Edition. Existing owners of Resident Evil Village will gain early access from October 23, 2022.

Check out the launch trailer for Resident Evil Re:Verse below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_UZXARzNJg

Resident Evil Re:Verse is a competitive online "survival revenge" mode for two to six players. Players can fight each other and against monsters on maps drawn from across Capcom's Resident Evil Remake line. They'll choose to play as characters like Chris, Jill, Hunk, and Ada, and use a variety of weapons and items to gain the upper hand. The game also has a "Bioweapon's Revenge" mechanic, where players can gather up virus capsules. If they're defeated by another player, they resurrect as a powerful bioweapon based on one of the series' many boss characters, such as Jack Baker or Nemesis. The more virus capsules they have, the stronger the creature they become. "Revenge-killing" the player who downed them also awards extra points.

The game supports cross-platform play, and will be freely accessible to all owners of Resident Evil Village and the Gold Edition.

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition Playable Demo Launched

1 year 6 months ago

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition

Capcom dropped a minor bombshell during its Resident Evil Showcase stream on October 20, 2022. After previewing the new features of Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, the company let audiences know that a playable demo for the game is readily available.

The playable demo for Resident Evil Village Gold Edition is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. It lasts roughly 60 minutes and allows players to play in both first-person and the newly added third-person mode.

There's more to the Gold Edition than that, though. In all the game, which includes the base game and the Winters' Expansion DLC, adds three additional gameplay modes. Players can take advantage of the additional distance of Third-Person Mode for a more action game-like feel. Then the Mercenaries Additional Orders mode is a combat-oriented mode allowing players to play as Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg, and legendary tall person Lady Alcina Dimitrescu.

Core to the expansion, though, is "Shadows of Rose", a new single-player story campaign featuring Ethan's daughter, Rose. Check out the story trailer below.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Also Headed to PS4, and Xbox Series

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Capcom showed off new footage of its Resident Evil 4 Remake during its Resident Evil Showcase stream on October 20, 2022. It also confirmed that the game is headed to PS4, PC, and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Previously the game was only confirmed for release on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X. Owners of the PS4 version will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free.

The new gameplay footage showed off Leon going through some of the earliest portions of the game, such as exploring the first abandoned house and entering the Ganados' village. Now-iconic encounters like fighting the Chainsaw Ganado have new twists, like environmental destruction, and Leon parrying the chainsaw with his combat knife. Some scenes that were simple dialog exchanges before are reframed and shot as cinematic cutscenes in the remake. Lighting overall is also quite different. Encounters that took place in broad daylight before now happen at night or in the driving rain. Glimpses of redesigned characters like Ada Wong and Ashley Graham were also seen.

Check out the Resident Evil 4 Remake trailer below.

The presentation also showed off crafting gameplay, attaché case inventory management, and interactions with the Merchant. Leon can buy weapons from him like before, as well as tune them up with upgrades. A trading system that allows Leon to trade collectible "rare gems" for special items will be present in the remake.

Final Fantasy XVI Ambition Trailer

Square Enix has released a new trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI. The trailer, titled "Ambition," delves into the game's story and even shows off a bit of gameplay. Specifically, several short glimpses of battles are shown, both those involving Clive's party and those between Eikons. Check out the four-and-a-half-minute-long trailer at this link.

The new Final Fantasy XVI trailer reveals that the land of Valisthea has been slowly dying for the past fifteen hundred years. The light of the Mothercrystals, which bless the land, has been fading. In order to hold on to their blessings, the trailer suggests, the realms of Valistheathe Grand Duchy of Rosaria, the Holy Empire of Sanbreque, the Dhalmekian Republic, the Iron Kingdom, and the Kingdom of Waloedare prepared for war. Sanbreque even goes so far as to invade Rosaria, with the mysterious Dominant of Ifrit summoning their Eikon during the attack.

Sonic Frontiers Audi R8 car to be sold in Japan

An Audi car with Sonic Frontiers livery will appear in Japan. Sega and Audi have revealed a special model of the Audi R8 Coupe V10 performance 5.2FSI quattro S tronic with its exterior design modeled after the upcoming Sonic game. Audi will sell the one-off car in Japan in late 2022. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

Hitotsuyama Racing, the racing team known for fielding an Audi car in the GT300 class of Super GT, created this Sonic Frontiers livery design. The livery will have a unique number of 11.8, which signifies the game's release date of November 8, 2022.

Audi has been selling the original car model at around 32,330,000 yen, or approximately $215,800. The brand's Japanese dealer will reveal the pricing for the one-off Sonic Frontiers R8 in November 2022.

The Community Spotlight 2022.10.22

1 year 6 months ago

Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we look back at the best community-created works from the previous week.

Today marks the official start of Giant Bomb's recruitment and fundraising for Extra Life 2022! I know I have been promoting the site's team page for the past few weeks, but this week Rorie published an official article articulating and outlining the site's plans for the event as well as some of the faces you can expect to see during Extra Life Weekend from November 4-6! However, let's not get ahead of ourselves because I have a special section of the Spotlight siloed off to relay everything you need to know about Giant Bomb's Extra Life plans and how YOU can help! But before we get to that, let's talk about some of the site-related news!

News

A bit of recurring theme last week involved Giant Bomb staff getting involved in other podcasts as guests or their own sidepieces. For example, Grubb is starting a new Game Mess Decides podcast where he and a guest talk about this important development and what it means for the gaming landscape. Then there's always the GameSpot After Dark podcast where you can always expect to see Tamoor hosting a group of GameSpot employees in a discussion about recent releases and news.

For those of you that prefer to use Twitch when a livestream starts, the staff added over a dozen new emotes, most inspired by the Giant Bombathon, and if you want a "cheat sheet" of what these might be, here you go!

It's Time To Extra Life!

1 year 6 months ago
No Caption Provided

Folks, Extra Life time around these parts is always a fun adventure into the minds of sleep-deprived idiots who have Very Funny Ideas For A Stream at around 2 AM. I know I’m one of them, and so can you!

That’s right, folks, we are gearing up for a bigger and better and in-personer version of the Extra Life streams from the past couple of years. Giant Bomb staff, associates, and friends are going to knock you in the head with FUN over the weekend of November 4th through the 6th! This year we are aiming to raise $223,556 for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. If that number sounds suspiciously un-even, it’s because that will make our lifetime total raised a cool, clean, even $2,000,000. With your help, we can do it!

What are we all playing this weekend?

1 year 6 months ago

After this week in UK politics I, as the kids possibly said seven(?) years ago, can't even. Just. Yep. What a time. A good weekend to get lost in video games and attempt not to encounter any of the chaos which will need to be taken seriously soon but right now brings only despair in its ever-shifting uncertainty. So what are you playing this weekend? Here's what we're clicking on!

If you've never played Uncharted, should you start with the Legacy Of Thieves Collection?

1 year 6 months ago

This week, the Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection came to PC, marking the first time Nathan Drake's Tombraider-but-a-bro adventures have arrived on our fair platform. It is also, err, a collection of the last games in the series. The bundle comprises Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and The Lost Legacy, a standalone Uncharted adventure featuring ladythieves Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross (they are thieves who are ladies, they don't steal women). Uncharteds 1-3, on the other hand, are nowhere to be seen. In fact, the only way to play them on PC right this second is to buy an expensive PlayStation Plus Premium subscription and stream them via the cloud as part of the Nathan Drake Collection - a far from ideal solution.

This puts us PC lot in a bit of a pickle. Naturally, if you haven't played any of these PlayStation exclusives until now, you're missing three entire games worth of story context. So, is it worth starting with Uncharted 4? The short answer is, "Yes". The long answer is, "Yeeeeeeeeeees - probably".

Contemplated the value of (condensed) historical research in Blackhaven

1 year 6 months ago

Although I try to recommend things that you can't simply try for yourself, I'm making an exception here because the spirit of this column is to report back on good things, and free or not, Blackhaven is a very good thing.

It's about starting a job in a museum and archive based around a former tobacco plantation, and run by the extremely wealthy descendants of its owners. It's not about what great people they were. It didn't feel like trauma porn, but obviously I can only speak as a ludicrously white person from another country.

What it is definitely good at it is representing real historical research, and who gets to write the history that suits them.

Did you know Tunic has a secret musical language on top of its cryptic game manual?

1 year 6 months ago

Anyone who’s played the charming Tunic knows that it’s a little cryptic. There’s an immediately nonsensical language to try and decipher, for one thing. Then you’ve got an in-game manual that’s been pulled apart, with pages strewn around the world to find before you can figure out how to do everything your little fox is capable of. Well, now audio designer Kevin Regamey has explained a whole other secret side to Tunic, and it turns out the game’s soundtrack hides a whole other language.

Gotham Knights can't compete with Rocksteady's timeless Arkham trilogy

1 year 6 months ago

As Ed detailed in his review earlier this week, Gotham Knights is a bit of a disappointing dud. I've also been picking my way through Gotham City as various members of the bat family, weightlessly punching dudes in alleys before crafting new sticks that hit 2% harder than the one I was using before. Despite a relatively good looking rendition of the iconic gothic metropolis and a pretty engaging story, Gotham Knights ultimately failed to capture my imagination.

It didn't help that throughout my time with Gotham Knights, I was thinking about the Arkham series. Rocksteady's trio of Batman-em-ups are essential superhero games, titles that redefined the genre and provided a template that still feels contemporary to this day. Aslyum, City and Knight fully immerse you in the Batman fantasy, successfully crafting a depiction of the caped crusader that was deadly, capable and - perhaps best of all - human.

Have you played... Fortnite?

1 year 6 months ago

Buried beneath an Everest sized pile of TikTok dance emotes, Marvel skins and lavish live concerts for Ariana Grande lies the actual reason Fortnite has kept me playing for the best part of half a decade: Fortnite is one of the finest multiplayer shooters on PC, and no, I’m not joking. It rules.
