The 'biggest DLC yet' for Remnant: From the Ashes is coming in August

3 years 11 months ago

Remember Remnant: From the Ashes?

It was a pretty decent RPG-shooter hybrid that  came out in late 2019, and it just recently got some DLC in April in the form of Swamps of Corsus. Well it's getting even more DLC now, as revealed by a trailer shown during the PC Gaming Show.

It's called Subject 2923, and will "wrap up the story" by taking you to the root of the problem: the Root, which I hope is voiced by Stephen Root. It's out on August 20, 2020!

I'm actually extremely up for a sequel, as there's a certain degree of polish that's necessary to really take this series to the next level.

Blankos looks like a better Roblox

3 years 11 months ago

It's hard to get core gamers excited about something like Blankos. The open-concept party game features amazingly designed toy characters you can take to an online party with your friends or make the star of your own levels and games. For collectors of vinyl figures, the fact the developers are working with some of the best artists in the niche toy industry makes this at least worth paying attention to.

Given the popularity of games like Roblox, Super Mario Maker, Dreams, and Fortnite Creative, there is massive potential for success here and it'll be interesting to see how it all comes together when Blankos launches later this year. A beta period will be held before launch, which you can sign up for right here.

Everspace 2 is getting a closed alpha starting this week

3 years 11 months ago

While I enjoyed the original enough, Everspace 2 looks like a vast improvement on its predecessor ahead of it's release to early access later this year. For those of you who cannot wait though, and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty with some possibly janky gameplay, a closed alpha for the game is coming this week, June 15 to Steam. While most alpha participants have been chosen thanks to the original crowdfunding campaign, there are still some spots available if you email info@rockfishgames.com.

Along with the alpha announcement, there was some new footage that looks to scratch more of my long lost Star Fox 64 all-range mode battle itches that have gone unscratched for decades.

Everspace 2 is slated for an Early Access release later this year on PC with a full console release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2021.

Carto is a chill-ass puzzle exploration game that will flip your world upside-down

3 years 11 months ago

Being a sea-faring cartographer during the 14th century would've been a lot easier you could've just flipped and shifted the world on a whim.

Carto is a puzzle game about exploring the world turning the whole thing into a puzzle. You take chunks of the land, flip it around and then move it to somewhere else. It's kind of a heady concept, so just watch the trailer. It looks really neat in execution.

Carto is scheduled to launch sometime later this year. Here's its Steam page. I'm definitely keeping an eye on it because this seems like the exact blend of aesthetic and neat gameplay hook that I'll really dig.

Godfall gets some more in-depth gameplay footage

3 years 11 months ago

After seeing footage of the high fantasy action RPG Godfall a few days ago for the first time, I have to say that even I a well-known fantasy snubber started to take interest. The world looked vibrant and fleshed out with some generally tantalizing gameplay. Today at the PC gaming show, more gameplay footage was shown with a preview of what some of the boss fights are going to look like.

It was also revealed that the realm where the game takes place in corresponds to the four elements of earth, wind, air, and fire. Playing as a warrior from one of these realms, your ultimate goal will be to bring about the end of a mad god that controls your universe. Sign me up for the attacking and dethroning of a god with the power of wind, thank you very much.

Godfall is currently scheduled to release during the holiday 2020 window on Epic Games Store and PlayStation 5.

As a part of this afternoon's PC Gaming Show, Humble Games dropped a teaser trailer for its jet-flyin', dog-fightin', limousine ridin' flight title Project Wingman, headed to PC this summer.

Developed by Sector D2, Project Wingman looks to offer a high-velocity air battles between powerful modern jet fighters, set against the background of an alternate "sorched earth" world. Fans of series such as Ace Combat might want to consider jumping into the cockpit of this high-adrenaline sky-fighter.

I can't wait to build a dastardly lair in Evil Genius 2: World Domination

3 years 11 months ago

I'm not going to lie. I've never heard of the game Evil Genius until I watched the trailer for its sequel during the PC Gaming Show. Holy hell, how have I lived without this in my life?

As revealed during last year's PC Gaming Show, Evil Genius 2: World Domination tasks players with designing their own nefarious lair as they strive to take over the world. Build traps, hire henchmen, and basically become a '70s Bond villain with equally ridiculous schemes.

Evil Genius 2: World Domination is set for release on PC later this year. You can add it to your Steam Wishlist right now.

Sega opens Humankind up to OpenDev so you can help shape the direction of the game

3 years 11 months ago

Humankind is a 4X grand strategy game about forging out a path for civilization. OpenDev is an Early Access concept so you can forge a path for Humankind.

As part of this afternoon's PC Gaming Show, Sega announced that Humankind is coming to limited-access OpenDev so that the community can play early chunks of the game and give feedback. That feedback will be used by developer Amplitude Studios to ensure Humankind is taking the approach its players want.

OpenDev will have three time-limited scenarios, one for each core pillar of Humankind: Exploration, tactical battles, and city management. All together, the scenarios are estimated to be about three hours' worth of content. Then, there's a survey that Amplitude asks players to fill out.

Prodeus slips even further from summer 2020 to fall 2020 Early Access

3 years 11 months ago

A few months ago we learned that the retro-themed shooter Prodeus slipped from an early 2020 release into "summer 2020." Well, according to a quick sizzle reel from the PC Gaming Show today, it's slipped even further into a "fall 2020" timeline.

That's still for Early Access, mind, not the full release. Get an updated look at the game below while you wait! Or check out the Steam page to see if it's retro enough for you.

Sci-fi, space, and survival combine in Icarus, coming to PC in 2021

3 years 11 months ago

During today's PC Gaming Show, developer Robot Werkz revealed its next epic title, Icarus. Blending interstellar exploration with typical survival mechanics, players will travel beyond the stars, visit strange new worlds, and create ramshackle habitats for themselves within them.

Players will visit planets through timed "drops", which will see characters visit the planet's surfaces to build, hunt, and explore. But keep one eye on the clock, because failure to return to your ship when your "drop" ends could result in the loss of your work, or your life. You can find out about Icarus and its mechanics in the interview below.

Icarus is coming to PC "sometime next year" as a free-to-play title.

In Sound Mind is a PS5 and Xbox Series X horror game from the Nightmare House 2 team

3 years 11 months ago

"When your mind is this twisted, you have no one to blame," the announcement trailer for In Sound Mind says. For horror fans, that might as well read "When your mind is this twisted, there's no telling where the story's gonna go."

In Sound Mind is an upcoming horror game from the development team behind famed Half-Life 2 mod Nightmare House 2. It leans into those psychological horror roots, again blurring the seams of reality and insane therapy-induced visions. You're fighting the unstable foundation of your own mind.

Having played through the first chunk of In Sound Mind, it's a first-person, inventory-based thriller. Early puzzles have you swapping out fuses and assembling a handgun, all while ominous and creepy things happen around you. There's an emphasis on optional exploration, and scripted events play out frequently with self-narration a la Alan Wake. Also, I took this very important screenshot:

Walking is one small step for man, one giant leap for Elite Dangerous players

3 years 11 months ago

The next major Elite Dangerous expansion will put players in a position they've never been before: Upright, on two legs, walking about extraterrestrial planets.

In March 2019, Elite Dangerous developer Frontier Developments teased that the next major update would be "a defining moment in the history of the game." We now know the scope of that statement. The Odyssey expansion will introduce atmospheric landings and exploring on foot.

There's more, of course. Frontier also describes NPC mission-givers, encounters that range from stealth to "all-out combat" (from a first-person perspective), social hubs, and a deep customization system for weapons and armor.

In a way, it sort of sounds like the Dust 514 to EVE Online. But, we'll find out more about the nitty gritty of Elite Dangerous: Odyssey sometime down the road. It's currently expected to launch in early 2021.

Come watch the 2020 PC Gaming Show with us, where Atlus is scheduled to make an announcement

3 years 11 months ago

Do you miss E3?

I kind of miss the spirit of it, at least. There's something about spreading out an E3 period over the course of two to three months this year that really takes the excitement out of it. In the past, we'd all huddle together as one giant community over the course of a few days and enjoy an onslaught of trailers and reveals together. Now everything is more isolated and meticulous: downright sterile in some cases. The current situation isn't really helping matters either.

But at the very least, we do have a few "big" events that mirror E3. We just got the PS5 event that basically served as an E3 presser. Today, we have the PC Gaming Show, which has respectably become a big part of E3 these past few years. So what's the big highlight? Well it depends on how you weigh each publisher individually, but I think Atlus is going to be the draw for most people. Yep, that Atlus, who just recently shared that they will be revealing "exciting news" for the show.

Want to get an idea of what the show is like to see if it's worth watching this year? Read our full 2019 recap. Or, just stick around and hang out in the comments. The PC Gaming Show starts at 2PM ET.

The Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 collectors editions is one of the more impressive ones to come out in recent years

3 years 11 months ago

Ever since I was thoroughly let down by the BioShock: Infinite collector's edition, I've taken a step back from committing the extra cash for these editions, even if they seem tantalizing at first. Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 might make me eat something other than blood with their packed collector's edition.

Limited to only 3000 copies, the collector's edition comes with the following items:

  • The main game
  • Detailed map of Seattle
  • 7” Vinyl featuring in-game soundtrack
  • 28 cm Elif Figurine
  • Steelbook
  • Bloodlines 5th edition core book (Digital)

Also included will be the pre-order and Unsanctioned Blood DLC packs as well as the Season of the Wolf pass, which includes two unnamed story packs and an expansion.

The real standout for me is the core book for the V:tM tabletop game. Not only is it a great return to the spotlight for the classic game, it will also serve as a great entry point for those who are just finding the series now.

Now for the painful part, the collectors edition will run you $169.99 or €169.99. Additionally there will be an edition that doesn't have the game or DLC included for those of you who pre-ordered digitally. The version without the game will cost $109.99 or €109.99.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is scheduled to release later this year for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

As revealed during the Guerrilla Collective Day 1 Showcase, GONNER2 has been announced and it's coming to Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Stylish indie shooter West of Dead releases in less than a week

3 years 11 months ago

Like a high noon shootout, I've had my eye silently affixed on West of Dead for a few months. Combing two of my favorite genres, the twin-stick and tactical shooter, while taking place in the dying days of the wild west in Wyoming, West of Dead looks to tick a lot of my personal boxes and look slick as hell while doing it.

Boasting a leading voice role from industry veteran Ron Perlman as a dead man coming back to punish the sinners, the game has been quietly working through a public beta since the beginning of the year with no concrete release date named. Today at the Guerilla Collective stream, it was announced that the game will release this coming week, June 18 on Steam and Xbox One with PlayStation 4 and Switch coming later this summer.

Ruiner comes to Switch guns-blazing on June 18

Guided by genius hacker "Her", our non-hero run 'n' guns their way through Heaven's hi-tech, high-security office blocks, taking on waves of enemies with an arsenal of futuristic weaponry, whilst learning the truth about themselves, their brother, Her, and Heaven itself.

Podtoid explores The Outer Worlds on Switch and finds it's not as bad as you think

3 years 11 months ago

Porting an Xbox One/PS4 game to Switch is like trying to rock a rhyme that's right on time. It's tricky. There are plenty of studios that specialize in the process and some ports are downright amazing, but most players know no matter the pedigree of the team handling the project, concessions will be made. Some are small and barely noticeable. Others, like with Outer Worlds, are right out in the open.

That's just one of the topics on this episode of Podtoid. Charlotte, Dan, Chris, CJ, and Occams come together to talk about Outer Worlds on Switch, Grand Theft Auto V, Fallout 76, and Maneater. All that, plus we answer listener questions, Chris introduces us to the amazing Undercover Cop mode from Kane & Lynch 2, and CJ butchers the word "foliage," on Podtoid Episode 446.

Itch.io Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality passes $6 million in donations

3 years 11 months ago

In an incredible show of community spirit, the itch.io Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality has amassed an astounding $6 million USD in total donations since its launch just over one week ago. Still available over on the itch.io website, the ever-expanding bundle currently offers over 1,500 games, soundtracks, and visual novels for a minimum donation of $5 USD.

Obviously, it would be simply impossible to list all of the content contained within this mammoth package, but the bundle includes such gems as Nuclear Throne, Runner3, Celeste, Octodad, A Short Hike, Pikuniku, Minit, A Mortician's Tale, Wheels of Aurelia, Bleed 2 and hundreds upon hundreds of other games, VNs, and tools from a wide variety of genres.

All you need do is meet the minimum donation to gain access to the entire catalogue, available to download direct from itch.io as individual, DRM-free executable files. All of the money raised will be split evenly between The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Community Bail Fund. Having absolutely smashed its initial $5 million USD goal, there is still plenty of time to push the total even higher before the campaign ends Tuesday, June 16.

Ramlethal Valentine is back in Guilty Gear Strive

3 years 11 months ago

Arc System Works has revealed the next roster member for its gorgeous anime fighter Guilty Gear Strive. Of little surprise to anyone but much delight to myself, it's the lovely/apocalypse-inducing Ramlethal Valentine.

Ramlethal made her debut as a boss character in the arcade edition of Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- before her world-ending talents were added to the main roster. Born of the Backyard, Ramlethal takes the form of a beautiful young woman, but is in actuality an overseer who has declared war on all of humanity, with the somewhat extreme goal of wiping the planet of all humankind. Fortunately, Ram has lightened up a little in recent days, and seems to have put her cataclysmic ways behind her... for now.

Whatcha been playing this week, Destructoid?

3 years 11 months ago

Hey folks, welcome to the weekend, and I sincerely hope it finds you well. It would be ignorant of me to pretend that everything across the world was just fine and dandy right now. This is most assuredly one of the strangest and toughest years I remember facing. But I hope that you and yours are keeping safe and well, Please take care of yourself and others, and find the small joys wherever they lie in these pressing of times.

The opening week of June has seen me spending a lot of my free time mostly attempting to placate a savaged sleep schedule. I did, however, run through the campaigns that make up Electronic Arts' Command and Conquer Remastered Collection. These strategy games recall the heady days of my youth, where I play the original C&C on, of all things, the Sega Saturn. A ridiculous compromise, but I made do, it was a lot of fun. You can check out my thoughts on the remaster right here.

But my business is not the focus of this article - yours is. Drop us a note below and fill us in on the vidya gamez that have been keeping you occupied these last seven days. It doesn't matter if they're old or new, whether you like 'em or not, just add your current obsessions to the list below, and show the community how you're right on the cutting edge of entertainment.

Oh, and while you're at it, why not check out our slick new forums. Simply sign up and soon you too can engage in learned discourse, while enjoying pictures of dopey kittens and anime characters. Just remember to be good to your fellow Dtoiders while you're there!

Have a safe and pleasant weekend, from all of us at Destructoid.

Vanillaware's 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim finally heads west this September

3 years 11 months ago

We've been waiting for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim for so long it often felt like it was slowly transitioning into vaporware. Originally announced back in 2015 for the PS4 and Vita -- the latter version having been canceled a few years ago -- it released in Japan last year. This September, it finally makes the jump over the Pacific.

Developed by Vanillaware, 13 Sentinels follows 13 different characters as they uncover the mysteries of the past, present, and future while also battling Kaiju in giant mechs known as Sentinels. Atlus, the publisher of the title, revealed a new trailer for it today, giving players a glimpse of the sci-fi setting as well as the beautiful art direction that has made Vanillaware a household name in the industry.

More info about Resident Evil Village is coming during Summer Game Fest

Windbound's gameplay trailer has Breath of the Wild vibes

3 years 11 months ago

Windbound strikes a particular mood in this gameplay trailer, and as someone who dug The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild enough to enjoy a (likely) lesser take on its exploration-focused format, I'm up for it. There's bow hunting, mushroom foraging, and a desert creature that swims through sand.

We've touched on Windbound before, but this footage is worth covering for those of you who might've missed it (or forgot this game even exists). To be honest, it had slipped my mind until today.

There are a few upcoming sailing-centric adventures, but this one looks the most promising to me in presentation and scope. So long as the islands don't all blur together, it should be another fun one.

5 Lives Studios is launching Windbound on August 28, for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Steam adds Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield, and more EA games

3 years 11 months ago

Steam is taking a trip down memory lane with EA as a bunch of games – mostly older titles – have become available on the PC storefront after being tied down to EA's own Origin. Brett told you about a dozen newly-added games including Dragon Age and Need for Speed titles, but there are more arrivals.

If you're in the mood for old favorites like Battlefield 3 or 4, the now-pretty-good Star Wars Battlefront II, or Mass Effect 3 (don't look at me – it's one of Steam's top-sellers right now!), you're in luck.

RPG Maker MZ is coming soon but details on new features are scarce

3 years 11 months ago

After teasing it last week, the developers of the RPG Maker franchise pulled back the curtain on the newest entry in the game-making franchise, titled RPG Maker MZ.  Unfortunately, there is a lot to be desired from its product page on the company's website. It lists a lot of the features you'll encounter in the software, most of it returning from previous entries, but the new features and enhancements are really nowhere to be seen. Those are being saved for a later date to the chagrin of many people on Twitter.

This announcement could have gone a lot better, but it is what it is. While we wait for all these new details, there are some aspects of the product that need to be worked out, including why Steam is listing the Mac version as not being compatible with Catalina 10.15 when it's listed as a 64-bit program on the RPG Maker website. They're also asking for 8 GB of RAM for MZ, double what was required for MV.

Hopefully, the new features are significant enough to warrant an upgrade. RPG Maker MV is still an exceptionally sound product with a crazy amount of DLC readily available for it. RPG Maker MZ is expected to launch this summer.

Konami classic Sunset Riders saddles up on PS4 and Switch

3 years 11 months ago

Now this is more like it. After several weeks of perfectly acceptable but frankly obscure releases, Hamster's Arcade Archives is knocking it out of the park with one of the most beloved arcade games of the golden age, Konami's rootin' tootin' classic Sunset Riders.

Released in the arcade market in 1991 - at a time when Konami were pumping out hit, after hit, after hit - Sunset Riders has one-to-four players pick from a selection of four badass hombres - Steve, Billy, Bob, and Cormano - before battling through frantic and garishly coloured side-scrolling action, on a mission to take down a gang of outlaws terrorising the county.

Featuring brilliant sprite work, memorable boss battles, goofy digitised speech and an absolutely kicking soundtrack, Sunset Riders holds up as a helluva good time. A genuine blast from the past which I've played through an abundance of times over the past three decades. You can check out the action in the video below, courtesy of World of Longplays.

World of Warcraft gives us a look at the Necrolord Covenant, which is even edgier than the vampires

3 years 11 months ago

Blizzard is slowly giving us a glimpse at the new covenant system in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, which lets you pledge your allegiance to a lore-centric group in the new expansion. We've already seen the others (like the vampiric Venthyr and the fairy Night Fae), but this week the deadly Necrolords take center stage.

With a name that sounds like it was straight out of a Darksiders game or a middle school Xbox Live account, the dead-centric clan is housed within Maldraxxus, one of the new zones in Shadowlands. Where it actually gets interesting is the breakdown of the Necrolord political system (each ruling house is in flux and their prime leader is gone), as well as the introduction of plenty of nostalgic Warcraft creatures, like Abominations, Liches and Aranakk spiders.

They'll also grant you edgy powers too, like Fleshcraft (form a shield of flesh and bone that prevents damage equal to a portion of your maximum health— standing near the corpse of a defeated enemy when the ability is cast will create a larger shield) and the ability to bind souls.

I'm tempted, but undead fame is fleeting: vampires are for life. This post is just full of weird phrases and "I'm 15 and this is deep" slogans (Fleshcraft is a pretty brave name for a skill that definitely won't be endlessly memed), isn't it? I love how silly this game can get sometimes.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope has been delayed until fall

3 years 11 months ago

Publisher Bandai Namco, along with developer Supermassive Games, has regrettably announced that the next entry in horror series The Dark Pictures Anthology has been hit with a delay and will not meet its summer release window. Little Hope will now release on PS4, PC, and Xbox One in fall 2020.

"Since the COVID 19 crisis hit in March, Supermassive Games has had our 200 strong team working from home. Our priority. throughout, has been the safety of our team," said Supermassive CEO Pete Samuels on Twitter. "We have now been working successfully at home for some time, with the entire team committed to delivering the best possible games. With that in mind it rests with me to make the unfortunate announcement that Little Hope will be delayed past the summer release already announced, now targeting fall 2020."

"Our priority has been to keep people safe, and that includes actors and stage crews on whose talents we depend so heavily, other workforces external to our business who all help to create the games we make, and all of the talented people that work within our studio."

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope is the follow up to 2019's Man of Medan, and will once again see players attempt to guide a group of hapless characters through a waking nightmare in a time-hopping storyline set around the Salem with trials. As with Man of Medan, (and Until Dawn before that), Little Hope's tense "sliding doors" narrate will influence each protagonist's fate -for better or worse - in terrifying moment-to-moment encounters.

This is probably our last look at Pokemon Sword and Shield's Isle of Armor DLC before its June 17 release

3 years 11 months ago

Pokemon Sword and Shield is such a fascinating game from pretty much every perspective. It's somehow one of the most-hated entries and one of the most successful. Despite the National 'Dex protests the game seems to be chugging along with over 17 million copies sold, ready to enter a new era of DLC very soon.

That era actually begins on June 17, when the Isle of Armor expansion hits, and will continue throughout 2020 and beyond the arrival of the second pack (Crown Tundra). Before that all happens, we're getting what seems to be one last look at Isle of Armor in this brief 30-second clip. Despite the short length, it does a decent job of explaining what's new and the subtle differences between the two versions (0:24) both from a creature and landscape perspective.

All that said, it's still telling that Nintendo UK has comments turned off for this Pokemon trailer, as they do not do that for all of their videos. Pokemon remains a hot button issue!

This is probably our last look at Pokemon Sword and Shield's Isle of Armor DLC before its June 17 release screenshot

Star Wars: Squadrons leaks, could be announced at next week's EA Play event

3 years 11 months ago

[Update: EA says the "reveal trailer" for Star Wars Squadrons will drop at 8:00 a.m. PT on June 15 here.]

Remember when we'd gather around the fire for E3 leaks? Well that isn't really happening this year en masse, but we are getting a few scraps every now and then. And it wouldn't really be "June" in the gaming world without a Star Wars leak. Classic!

Like several other games in recent memory, Star Wars: Squadrons has leaked by way of Xbox.com through an early listing. Remember Project Maverick? This seems to be it. The artwork is very reminiscent of the classic X-Wing/TIE Fighter series and heavily focuses on various planes in the Star Wars universe, as the tagline "squadron" would hint. Will be it be a radical squadron though? Only time will tell.

That time is coming very soon, in fact. We can expect to hear more during the June 18 EA Play event, where the big publisher can't resist laying down some big money Star Wars news and flaunting their stewardship over the IP.

While the listing was barren, VentureBeat has obtained information through various sources, which indicate that the game will have a single-player campaign, but will largely focus on a multiplayer component. While the Xbox One platform was clearly confirmed through the listing, VentureBeat also states that it will come to "PC and consoles."

All the little details about Paper Mario: The Origami King are starting to unfold

3 years 11 months ago

May's surprise reveal of Paper Mario: The Origami King was met with some trepidation. Releasing in July, that first two-minute trailer didn't show enough to earn much confidence. Paper Mario missteps like Sticker Star are too fresh in too many minds.

Maybe this six-minute overview will win some hearts. Nintendo covers a lot of ground here, explaining Origami King's exploration, combat, companions, and more.

Bethesda is changing some aspects of Fallout 76 based on fan feedback

3 years 11 months ago

As Bethesda continues the cycle of removing bugs and adding new ones to Fallout 76, they are increasingly doubling down on the idea of "listening to fan feedback."

In a stark change from the periodic public test server (PTS) access for Fallout 76, they recently opened it up to everyone who has access via the Bethesda launcher. This week, they're sharing the fruits of that labor, noting that they have gotten a ton of responses from fans and plan on "making improvements." Many of them will come after Update 20 (the next patch lined up), but Bethesda hints they will come regardless.

What specifically? Well the vague fixes for the "Colossal Problem" event are in, and the legendary perk system is mentioned by name:

"We have been actively reading through all of the Legendary Perks feedback the community has shared with us so far, and we agree that there are areas we can improve. We’ve decided to shift this feature so that we have more time to review the current Legendary Perk system, make changes, perform testing, and ask you for additional feedback in a future iteration of the PTS. As a preview, some of the improvements we’re currently working on will allow you to swap Legendary Perks in and out at any time in exchange for a few Perk Coins, as well as save your Legendary Perk selections even if you haven’t filled all of your available slots. We are also looking into creating new Legendary Perks and changing some existing ones based on community discussions."

Resident Evil is the first Capcom series to surpass 100 million shipped: it deserves it

3 years 11 months ago

Resident Evil has had its ups and downs; but far more ups than the latter. Capcom seems to agree, at least from a monetary standpoint. See that header image? That's Leon dropping the mic.

Beating its chest in a blog post this morning, the publisher reports that Resident Evil has now surpassed the 100 million shipped units milestone: the first Capcom franchise to do so. The recent Resident Evil 3 remake numbers are most certainly what pushed that figure over the edge, but strong sales for Resident Evil 7 are partly responsible. Capcom calls the series "its flagship property" in the statement.

If Resident Evil Village is anything like RE7 it'll help the series soar past that goal. If it truly does combine RE7 and RE4 into one package, it could be the best-selling entry of them all.

The new Warframe Protea has me awfully excited

3 years 11 months ago

Its offices may be empty as programmers work from home, but that isn't stopping Digital Extremes from delivering its promised content to the Warframe community. The Deadlock Protocol, which guides players through the origins of the Corpus Faction, is one of several big updates coming to Warframe in its lead-up to TennoCon 2020 and is now available for PC players.

The Marvel vs. Capcom and X-Men vs. Street Fighter Arcade1Up cabinets will include the original ROMs

3 years 11 months ago

As great as the current era of fighting games is, my heart will always belong to the '90s. The decade produced some of the fighters I consider to be my all-time favorites because they featured characters from X-Men: The Animated Series, my favorite cartoon at the time. Games like X-Men: Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes sucked the quarters directly out of my wallet. Last year, when Arcade1Up revealed its Capcom Marvel Super Heroes Home Arcade Game, I didn't think it could get better than that.

I was wrong.

As part of its upcoming lineup, Arcade1Up announced it is creating an X-Men vs. Street Fighter cabinet that will include X-Men: Children of the Atom, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, and the original arcade ROMs for Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Heroes and X-Men vs. Street Fighter. A second cabinet is also being produced for as-of-yet unnamed exclusive retail partners. It will feature Marvel vs. Capcom decals and will come loaded with MvC, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes, and Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems. That's a lot of Marvel!
