Xbox Announces Digital Event After E3 2020 Cancellation; Ubisoft Also Considering the Option

4 years 2 months ago

Following the news about the cancellation of E3 2020, publishers are starting to react, and it appears that we’ll still have something to look forward to.

Xbox division head Phil Spencer took to Twitter to announce that Microsoft will host a digital event to celebrate the upcoming next generation.

Spencer also mentioned that E3 has always been important for the Xbox team.

We also get word from Ubisoft. While the house of Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs hasn’t announced firm plans just yet, they’re now “exploring other options” for their own digital experience.

The publisher adds that “E3 is and will continue to be a moment where we come together as a community and share our love for game.”

You can see the full announcement below.

With similar initiatives also being taken for GDC, it looks like the gaming industry isn’t planning to completely stop providing us with entertainment, which is perhaps more needed now than ever.

At the moment, preparations for relevant gaming events later in the year like Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show appear to be going on as planned, and we’ll see if we’ll be able to restart celebrating games in person once again sooner rather than later.

Of course, Twinfinite will be present where possible and will keep you posted on further developments as they happen.
