It has been quite a ride for Obi-Wan Kenobi, as the Disney+ series finally comes to its conclusion. Depending on your preference, you may have enjoyed the fleshing out of one of Star Wars’ beloved characters, or struggled with how it might have affected canon. Will There Be a Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi?
As of now, there has been no official confirmation that Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi is in the works, but that could easily change considering the relative success of the series on Disney+. Even so, we know that stars Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen are keen on exploring more stories for both Obi-Wan Kenobi and by extension, Darth Vader.
“I really hope we do another,” McGregor said. “If I could do one of these every now and again — I’d just be happy about it,” he shared when speaking to British GQ. As for Christensen, he echoed the same thoughts when speaking to RadioTimes.
“It was definitely conceived as a standalone story, but I would love to continue with this character. You know, I think there’s certainly more there to explore and I would be so excited to get to do so.”
With the Obi-Wan Kenobi series ending about a decade before the events of A New Hope, there is definitely room to maneuver if the studio decides to expand on the adventures of the Jedi master. A second season might also allow us to catch up with other characters such as Reva and Roken, provide more callbacks to other series like The Clone Wars, or flesh out the events that impacted Obi-Wan Kenobi throughout the years.
