Valve’s Gabe Newell Says the Xbox Series X Is Better than PS5

3 years 9 months ago

Valve co-founder and president Gabe Newell has been asked which, between the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, is better. His answer was unflinching.

The interview was showcased on The Project, a broadcast from New Zealand of which you can watch a segment below. It was spotted by Reddit user ronbag.

To the rather direct question, Newell immediately answered “The Xbox.” To a surprised “why?” from one of the hosts, he simply said, “Because it is.”

Newell continued by mentioning that he doesn’t have a stake in the race, as most of Valve’s development is done on PC. Yet, among the two consoles, he would “definitely work on Xbox.”

He did not provide any kind of specific explanation for his preference, so we don’t know exactly why he favors the Xbox Series X over the PS5. That being said, the lack of any hesitation in the answer is certainly rather interesting.

You can check out the interview below, set at the specific spot for your perusal.

Both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X are slated to release in this Holiday season, but neither has a release date or an announced price just yet.

We also don’t know when pre-orders will be made available. Both Microsoft and Sony have been very quiet about any kind of date or indication of when fans will be able to reserve their new consoles.
