Ubisoft Is Giving Away Free Copies of Child of Light

Every day, news channels are swamped with updates on the coronavirus. If you feel like you could use a break from the deluge of disease-related discourse, Ubisoft has you covered with a free game.

Starting today, gamers can obtain a free copy of Ubisoft’s beautiful turn-based RPG Child of Light. In the game, players control the girl Aurora and explore the fairytale land of Lemuria. With an over-sized sword in hand and fantastic friends by her side, Aurora must defeat the evil armies of the Queen of Night and return the stolen sun, moon, and stars to their rightful places.

When we reviewed the game back in 2014, we noted that Child of Light features an addictive combat system. More importantly, the game checks all the necessary RPG boxes for memorable characters and an engrossing story without drowning the player in hundreds of hours of gameplay. The game is approximately 15 hours long, which is the perfect length for a game.

Best of all, Child of Light is a coming of age story that adults can enjoy as much as children, or better yet, parents can enjoy with their children. A far cry from Ubisoft’s normal offerings of mature games such as Assassin’s Creed and, um, Far Cry, but welcome in a time when everyone is stuck at home in quarantine.

In order to receive your free copy of Child of Light, you need a UPlay account. Plus, the freebie is restricted to the PC, but since it only requires an Intel Core2 Quad Q8400 CPU, 4 GB of RAM, an NVidia GeForce GTX 260, and 3 GB of hard drive space, most people shouldn’t have any trouble running the game. Also, this offer is only available until March 28th, so you better act fast if you want the game.
