Spider-Man Coming to Marvel’s Avengers as a PlayStation Exclusive, Post-Launch Hero

It’s been announced via a post on the official PlayStation Blog that Spider-Man will be coming to Marvel’s Avengers as a post-launch hero in early 2021. He will be available to download at no additional cost and the character will be exclusive to the PS4/PS5 versions of Marvel’s Avengers.

Crystal Dynamics also shared some tiny details on how Spider-Man will play once he’s added into the game.

For example, when Spider-Man is flying through the air on his web line, Crystal Dynamics wants players to feel “graceful and light” with a variety of web configurations and gadgets that can significantly affect the way you traverse environments.

Spider-Man fans can also expect for his design to be more classic than anything else. The dev team drew inspiration from Steve Ditko and John Romita Sr., classic Spider-Man designers, to nail the perfect Spidey look.

Once Spider-Man makes his debut in Marvel’s Avenger, there will be an in-game event to celebrate his arrival that’s full of unique challenges and missions that’ll introduce him into the new world.

Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix held a ‘War Table’ presentation last week focused on Marvel’s Avengers that went into tons of detail on the upcoming pre-order beta and it was also revealed that Hawkeye would be the first hero to come post-launch.

You can play the game for yourself once it launches on Sep 4, 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. Marvel’s Avengers will also come to PS5 and Xbox Series X, once they eventually launch this holiday season. PS4 and Xbox One players will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version at no additional cost.
