2 years 10 months ago

Atlus has this week revealed its financial results for fiscal 2021, which included an update on the sales of its acclaimed Persona franchise. As reported by Personacentral, the numbers are impressive, with total franchise sales topping 15 million worldwide, which is up by around 2 million from last year’s fiscal report.

Other key takeaways include Persona 5 Royal having sold around 1.8 million copies since its Japanese launch on Oct. 31, 2019, which is up by 400,000 units from the last report a year earlier. Also, Persona 4 Golden for PC has sold approximately 900k copies worldwide since its launch in June of 2020.

Sales for the action-RPG spin-off Persona 5 Strikes weren’t given an update, but Personacentral reported earlier this year that it had sold 1.3 million units worldwide as of April 2021.

For a full review of the fiscal report, you can head over to Personacentral. In brief, despite Atlus’s losses as a result of “the effect brought upon by the amortization of business rights with the transfer of operations,” the sales of the game’s released from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021 exceeded Atlus’ sales expectations and contributed to parent company Sega’s profit as a result.

Twinfinite reviewed Persona 5 Royal last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, scoring the game 4.5/5 and concluding that “the additions introduced in Royal allow Persona 5 to become the excellent JRPG it was always truly meant to be, and it’s a wonderful effort that will surely be appreciated by fans.”
