There’s a new treat in store for fans of Playtonic’s acclaimed platformer series Yooka-Laylee today in the form of soundtracks for both games releasing across all stores and streaming platforms.

The first Yooka-Laylee soundtrack was released in 2017 but had recently become unavailable whereas 2019’s the Impossible Lair soundtrack was only available on Bandcamp.

Music label Materia Collective has come to the rescue to bring the original soundtrack back to fans and ensure wider distribution of Impossible Lair. Both soundtracks feature music composed by Grant Kirkhope, Davis Wise, Steve Burke, Matt Griffin, and Dan Murdoch on all storefronts starting today.

You can check out samples of Yooka-Layee’s soundtrack here, and Impossible Layer’s here.

Yooka-Laylee is an open-world platformer created by a collection of developers who had worked on genre classics like Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country games. Last year, a sequel called The Impossible Layer was released, featuring a side-scrolling platform design in a throwback to the genre’s roots. It was ultimately much better received.

To check out some Impossible Layer gameplay, here’s a trailer that showcases one of its clever mechanics: the way that a pair of characters can alter level states from the world map in order to change the way a level will play out once entered.
