Ninjala, Switch Exclusive Battle Royale, Delayed Due to Coronavirus Impact

4 years 2 months ago

Ninjala, the upcoming Battle Royale action game from GungHo Online Entertainment, has unfortunately been delayed due to the Coronavirus impact. The developers announced the pushback via the Japanese Twitter account for the game.

Ninjala was originally supposed to launch on May 28 but now, it’ll be releasing onto the Switch eShop on June 24.

There was also a press release with a message from the President & CEO of GungHo, Kazuki Morishita, regarding the delay:

“Ninjala is near completion, but we are significantly limited in how quickly we can work to test and finalize the game when we cannot be in the same room. Although we are working hard to launch Ninjala and release it to our fans, the health and safety of our employees is paramount. We apologize to our Ninjala fans who were eagerly anticipating its launch, and we ask for your understanding as we work to bring you the best game we can in this additional month.”

A video was also released onto the official Ninjala YouTube channel:

Late last month, Ninjala had an open beta test that was available for anybody with a Nintendo Switch but unfortunately, there were a number of players that experienced a variety of technical issues such as error codes, and random disconnections.

Although people will have to wait a little bit longer now for Ninjala to release, that’ll give you all extra time to possibly check out one of the biggest Switch games this month, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition — which looks very good.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected countless video game events in 2020 and video game development itself. Just to name a few: E3 2020, Paris Games Week, Comic-Con 2020, and Gamescom have all been canceled or changed to a digital-only event.
