Today Square Enix released a large gallery of screenshots and new details about the upcoming JRPG NEO: The World Ends With You.

First of all, we get to see new key art by Gen Kobayashi portraying the protagonists of the game, on top of a look at more of the Shinjuku Reapers.

They’re the overseers of the Reaper’s Game and have come to Shibuya about three years ago. We meet Ayano, Kubo, Kaie, and Hishima.

The game will challenge our heroes to complete a variety of missions that vary day by day, including mystery solving, boss battles, and turf wars against other teams.

We can consult information about mission details and progress in Rindo’s “Mental Notes,” while the Social Network includes details on everyone he meets. It includes a relationship chart and a minigame that lets you exchange “friendship points” for rewards.

Nagi’s Psych is called Dive, and it can be used to enter people’s minds. This will let the group fight the Noise hiding within in special battles. You can select the difficulty to earn better rewards.

In battle, Rindo and his party can use a variety of Psych depending on the pins they have equipped. By pressing the button associated with a Psych you will perform an attack. You can combo them in any way you want.

Attacks from different characters can also be assembled in combos. Hitting enemies under the right conditions will make a Beatdrop Gauge appear. If you strike again while the gauge is up, you will initiate a Beatdrop combo increasing Groove. When it’s full you can unleash Mashup attacks to deal massive damage.

As you progress through the game, you can increase the maximum Groove to 300%, paving the way for even more powerful Mashup attacks, called Killer Remixes. There are various kinds of Mashups and they depend on the Psychs you use.
