Morbius Delayed for the Sixth Time; New Release Set for April 2022

2 years 3 months ago

Today, Sony Pictures Entertainment confirmed that Morbius has been delayed yet again. This newest delay pushes the upcoming Marvel anti-heroes’ vampire flick back until April 1, 2022, marking the sixth delay since its original release date announcement of July 10, 2020.

According to Deadline, the reason for the newest delay once again comes back to the COVID-19 pandemic, as the Omicron variant has caused significant issues regarding filming.

For anyone that hasn’t heard about the film, you can check out the official synopsis for a bit more background information on Morbius below.

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

Morbius is directed by Daniel Espinosa and stars Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson.
