Legendary Visual Novel Clannad Getting Physical Editions for Nintendo Switch by Limited Run Games

4 years 1 month ago

Today Limited Run Games and Sekai Project’s console arm Sekai Games announced two physical editions of Clannad for the Nintendo Switch.

The offering includes a standard version with box and cartridge, and a Collector’s Edition including a Visual Guidebook and the Clannad Arrange Album “Mabinogi.”

You can check out what they look like in the tweets by Limited Run Games below.

If you’re unfamiliar with Clannad, it was originally released for Windows in 2004. It’s extremely popular in Japan, especially among the previous generation of gamers, together with other games by Key like Kanon and Air.

You can read an official description below (from its Steam page).

“After the death of his mother, Tomoya Okazaki—a guarded delinquent student at Hikarizaka High School—struggles to not only make sense of the abusive relationship he has with his alcoholic father, but also find meaning in his life. While on his way to class one morning, he meets a mystifying girl named Nagisa.

She is a delinquent like him, but only because she is repeating her senior year, unlike the perpetually tardy Okazaki. From their brief encounter, Nagisa decides they should be friends, and enlists Tomoya’s help to revive the school drama club. Not being busy in any way, he decides to join in. Along the way, the two make friends with many other students and try to find both solace and belonging in their endeavors.”

If you don’t have a Switch, Clannad is also available digitally for PC and PS4, on top of the Switch itself (in case you don’t wish to wait).
