Final Fantasy VII Remake Tops UK Charts in Its Debut Week

It’s the end of a week, so it’s time to take a look at the GfK chart related to physical sales in the UK. Of course, this is a special week, marking the debut of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

The chart was relayed by Gamesindustry, and we learn that the Remake sold half compared to the debut copies of Final Fantasy XV.

That being said, the new game suffered from enormous issues in physical distribution due to stores being closed across the country to slow down the spread of COVID-19. On top of that, the April launch window is usually a lot weaker compared to the Holidays. Having sold this much physically is likely quite the feat.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Remake sold twice as much at debut than another relevant remake, Resident Evil 3.

You can see the chart below.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was pushed down to second place by the Final Fantasy VII Remake, while Animal Crossing: New Horizon regains a position and closes the podium in third place.

The rest of the chart includes a lot of evergreen games like FIFA 20, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Grand Theft Auto V, and even The Last of Us Remastered.

Resident Evil 3 took a plunge falling from the second place all the way to seventh, while Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order climbed one place to eighth.
