The crowdfunding campaign for Rabbit & Bear Studios’ JRPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is continuing to chew stretch goals at a steady pace.
The crowdfunding campaign has now passed $2.95 million (it’s at $2.968.514 at the moment of this writing) which means that the previously-mysterious And they’re off goal has been achieved. Turns out that it’s a racing minigame.
New goals have been revealed including hot springs at $3 million, and two unexplained goals. “Catch ’em all!” at $3.025 million and “Building the dream” at $3.05 million.
The previously unrevealed “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” goal has also been explained, and it’s the game’s 107th hero, Gocteau.
Here’s an explanation of what we know.
- Racing Minigame – At this stretch goal, you’ll be able to pit creatures against others in special racing circuits. Catch creatures or breed them, win races and grasp for glory!
- Gocteau Joins – The leader of several guilds, Gocteau seems amiable enough, but he’s been to hell and back more than once. Despite being an avid gambler, he rarely wins. His inclusion in your army would bring the hero count to 107.
- Hot Springs – At this stretch goal, you and your comrades will be able to unwind in the relaxing hot springs after a hard-fought battle. Just make sure to stay on your side of the wall!
As a bonus, we also get a video interview with director Osamu Komuta, who previously worked as a programmer on Suikoden IV and directed Suikoden Tactics, Suikoden Tierkreis, and Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century.
He talks about the battle system that he designed and mentions that there will be a lot of minigames.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes’ campaign was launched on Kickstarter less than a couple of weeks ago, reaching its basic founding goal in two hours and unlocking console platforms shortly after.
As usual, the success of this campaign shouldn’t be too surprising considering that it brings back together Suikoden creators Yoshitaka Murayama and Junko Kawano, and appears to be a spiritual successor of the popular franchise.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will come to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and a possible next-gen Nintendo platform in fall 2022.
