Cyberpunk 2077 ‘Night City Wire’ Event Has Been Delayed

3 years 11 months ago

Developer and publisher of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red, has announced that ‘Night City Wire’ has been pushed back from June 11 to June 25. The upcoming event for the massively-anticipated RPG is planned to show off “stuff” for Cyberpunk 2077 but no specific details have been shared.

The decision to delay the event is due to the events currently happening in the United States, with CD Projekt Red stating that “more important discussions are happening right now and we want them to be heard. We wholeheartedly stand against racism, intolerance, and violence. Black Lives Matter.”

CD Projekt Red announced the short delay on Twitter via the official account for Cyberpunk 2077, with the tweet reading:

We decided to move Night City Wire to Jun 25th. We still look forward to sharing new information about CP’77, but more important discussions are happening right now and we want them to be heard. We wholeheartedly stand against racism, intolerance and violence. Black Lives Matter.

This isn’t the first major video game event to be postponed this week. Just yesterday, Sony announced that the PS5 reveal event scheduled for June 4 would be moved to a future date, which has not been established just yet.

As of right now, the title has not been confirmed for a PS5 release, however, Microsoft has stated that Cyberpunk 2077 will take advantage of the Smart Delivery feature, which allows consumers to purchase the Xbox One version of Cyberpunk 2077 and play it on Xbox Series X without having to buy the game a second time.

Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on Sep 17 —after an extended delay— for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and Xbox Series X.
