Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Map “Slightly Bigger” Than Odyssey, Ubisoft Dev Says

3 years 11 months ago

Contrary to previous reports that had suggested Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would be a smaller, more streamlined open-world experience than previous entries in the series, new information from Ubisoft producer Julien Laferrière confirms it’s actually going to feature a larger map than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

In an interview conducted by YouTuber Julien Chièze, Laferrière described the map as being “a bit larger” than Odyssey. He also says the map comprises the entirety of England and a large part of Norway.

Here’s the translated version of that particular part of the conversation courtesy of Reddit user Vaset (video here for those who speak French):

I would actually say in terms of range it is probably a bit larger than Assassins Creed Odyssey. I do not have the exact figures at this stage, but we have not only created the whole country, which is, in this case, England, but also to a good part of Norway too.

There are other secret worlds, which I can not speak about today, which contributed to the size of the game. It’s not a small game, it is a game that is clearly ambitious, which will offer many many hours of gameplay for the players.

If that’s true, it would mean Valhalla features the biggest map ever in an Assassin’s Creed game. Odyssey had previously held the record, beating out Origins before it. You can check out Twinfinite’s full run-down of the biggest open-world maps by size here.
