Animal Crossing: New Horizons Will Ramp Down on Major Updates & Expansion After Nov. 5

2 years 6 months ago

Just a couple weeks back, we had a big Nintendo Direct focused solely on Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It seemed to be the rejuvenation process that this game needed; it’s bringing back Brewster and the Gyroids, along with new cooking systems that help add more longevity to the game. Beyond that, we’re also getting the Happy Home Paradise paid DLC, which lets players travel to different archipelagos and decorate homes.

This is a lot of new content to be excited about, but Nintendo has also since confirmed in a statement to IGN that there will be no other major updates for the game after that.

“Nintendo shared the news with IGN in a presentation for today’s Animal Crossing Direct, where it revealed that the version 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise DLC will both be available on November 5, 2021. Following that date, Nintendo says it will only be supporting the game with small changes.”

This pretty much means that we’ll only see the seasonal events such as Bunny Day and Halloween, with no other big updates to shake things up in the future. It’s definitely sad news, especially since Animal Crossing has had a major impact on its huge player base, the majority of which having probably picked up the game during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even so, there’s plenty of content here to hopefully keep players busy for a long time.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available on the Nintendo Switch.
