It Takes Two - the new game from Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and A Way Out creator Josef Fares - will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC on March 26, 2021.
Announced at The Game Awards, the co-op only platformer will follow A Way Out's lead by offering a Friend's Pass system – only one player needs to own the game, and can invite a friend to play online for free. Friend's Passes will work within console families, but seemingly won't be cross-platform. The game can also be played in local co-op mode.

A gameplay trailer showed off the new Hazelight game, which will be published as an EA Original. While clearly taking cues from the narrative-led, splitscreen action of A Way Out, It Takes Two is a far more bizarre proposition, with married couple Cody and May turned into dolls, and told to fix their relationship to break the spell. Oh, and there's a talking book of love called Dr. Hakim.
The gameplay shows off a variety of worlds, including fantasy, underwater, ice, cosmic, clockwork and even what seems to be the real world at miniature size. Within them, we see a huge variety of activities, from controlling retro video games, to controlling a pirate ship, bobsledding and what seem to be classic 3D platformer boss battles.

It Takes Two was announced at EA Play Live earlier this year, with Fares saying that it would "blow your f**king mind away". We awarded his last game, A Way Out, an 8.3 review, saying that "If you go into A Way Out thinking its mandatory two-player co-op is a gimmick, you’ll likely come out of it realizing that it couldn’t have been done any other way."
