VergeWorld Is a Roguelike Combat-Racer With a Gorgeous Retro Aesthetic - IGN Expo 2022

1 year 10 months ago

VergeWorld is a new combat racing game with a beautiful, PS1-inspired look - and it's coming to PC this fall.

Revealed at IGN Expo, the game has a roguelike structure, sending you dogfighting, racing and violently exploding through procedurally generated courses. Between runs, you'll be able to use collected resources to upgrade your post-apocalyptic flying machine.

Aiming to mix the speed and precision of WipeOut with bullet hell combat, the game initially started as a fan project aiming to recreate Amiga and Sega Genesis style games, but blossomed into a full project for developer Bad Bones. Furthering the retro homage, the game features a 16-bit synthwave soundtrack, and pixel art story sections.

You'll be able to play a demo on Steam from June 13. This was just one of dozens of announcements and trailers revealed during IGN Expo 2022 - make sure to check them all out.
