Square Enix has revealed the next title in its long-running SaGa RPG series. It's called SaGa Emerald Beyond, and it's coming to Nintendo Switch in 2024.

Revealed during today's Nintendo Direct, the trailer walked through the different playable characters you'll be able to choose between. We got looks at a puppetmaster, a witch, a crime-fighting duo, a songtress mech, and a king of darkness who was recenrly reawakened.

After selecting your character, you'll play through 17 interconnected worlds to discover their story. Making different choices will unlock different paths in the story, and the Direct said there are more branching paths than ever before in the SaGa franchise.

Emerald Beyond has a turn-based battle system called timeline battles, where turn order is crucial in determining the winner. We don't have an exact release date, but we know it's coming sometime next year.

Emerald Beyond marks the first new mainline entry in the series since 2018's SaGa: Scarlet Grace. Fans may also remember the Collection of SaGa: Final Fantasy Legend that came to Nintendo Switch in 2020. That collection contained the original Final Fantasy Legend trilogy.
