Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart's Myterious Female Lombax Is a Playable Character

The mysterious female Lombax from the PS5 Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart trailer will be a playable character in the game. Insomniac Games confirmed the news on Twitter, posting a picture of the as of yet unnamed character, noting that you will "play as Ratchet AND a mysterious new female Lombax" in Rift Apart's campaign.

The internet took a shine almost immediately to this new hero, who wields a hammer and dons a pair of flight goggles, with some dubbing her 'Ratchette' in lieu of a confirmed name. She appears to Clank as he is flung into one of the game's titular rifts, and reacts with a questioning "Who?" when Clank asks where series protagonist Ratchet is. In that sense, it's suggested that inside of this particular multiverse (which appears to be doomed), she is the hero. You can check out the full trailer for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart below. According to a PlayStation Blog post, the game will use the PS5's ultra-high-speed SSD to allow the player to "seamlessly travel through different dimensions in mid-gameplay. The DualSense wireless controller will also "bring combat to life" with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers bolstering immersion.
