Nintendo Showcase Highlights 14 Switch Games

Nintendo’s latest indie showcase offered an in-depth look at 14 upcoming Switch games, including some hitting the Nintendo console today, while also teasing nearly a dozen more for release in the coming months. Here’s everything Nintendo showed off in the August 18 Indie World Showcase:

Hades

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/18/hades-v10-launch-trailer"] Supergiant’s roguelike Hades, which has previously been available on PC, has been confirmed for a Nintendo Switch release. It will make its debut on consoles on the Switch, presumably meaning PS4 and Xbox One versions will follow, sometime this fall. Be sure to read our Hades Early Access review, and if you’ve already been playing Hades, fear not — Supergiant confirmed the game will support cross-save if PC players choose to make the jump to Switch.

Hypnospace Outlaw

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/03/13/hypnospace-outlaw-steam-launch-trailer"] No More Robots’s ‘90s internet simulator Hypnospace Outlaw previously made its debut on PC, but will hit Nintendo Switch on August 27. Players can download a demo later today, as well as pre-purchase the game at that time.

Spiritfarer

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/30/spiritfarer-third-gameplay-teaser-trailer"] The previously announced Spiritfarer has a surprise launch today on Nintendo Switch (and presumably its another announced platforms, as the Indie Showcase mentions no console exclusivity). Spritifarer is a “cozy management game” that has players exploring the afterlife and helping to shepherd souls to their final rest. But, it’s also got a bright, colorful art style, platforming, and more.

Garden Story

Developed by Picogram and Rose City Games, Garden Story is set to be released in 2021. Play as a town guardian concord grape cultivating life in the Grove. Restore the town, make friendships, stave off the Rot, and more.

Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero

Takeshi and Hiroshi

A new adventure with claymation-like visuals, Takeshi and Hiroshi is available later today for Nintendo Switch. The adventure puts players in the role of game designer Takeshi, creating a game to entertain his brother Hiroshi. The first footage shows both scenes of the two brothers as well as gameplay from the RPG Takeshi is developing.

Raji: An Ancient Epic

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/24/raji-an-ancient-epic-7-minutes-of-exclusive-gameplay"] Raji, the first game from Nodding Heads Games, is set in ancient India and features Raji, a girl chosen by the gods to fight against a demonic invasion. It’s set to hit Switch as a timed console exclusive later today.

Bear and Breakfast

Ever wanted to run your own bed and breakfast? Ever wanted to be a bear? If you said yes to both those questions, then Bear and Breakfast is the game for you. Part adventure game, part management sim, players will star as the innkeeper Hank, a bear whose goal is to revitalize a shack into a thriving B&B, all while dealing with the mysteries of the surrounding forest. Bear and Breakfast is a timed console exclusive set for the Switch sometime in 2021.

A Short Hike

Acclaimed PC release A Short Hike is making the jump to consoles as a timed exclusive on Nintendo Switch later today.

Card Shark

From the creators of Reigns and published by Devolver Digital, Card Shark doesn’t ask you to be a great card player. It asks you to become someone who’s great at cheating at cards. Set in 18th century French society, the “game about cheating at cards” is slated for a 2021 release.

Torchlight III

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/torchlight-iii-nintendo-switch-announce-trailer"] The third in the Torchlight trilogy is heading to the Nintendo Switch sometime this fall. Players on Switch of Torchlight III will receive an exclusive red fairy pet.

Manifold Garden

Evergate

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/05/06/evergate-trailer-2020"] Evergate, a four-year passion project for Stone Lantern Games, is out later today on Nintendo Switch. The dreamlike puzzle platformer will see players bouncing through areas, and dimensions, on a quest to save the afterlife, discovering your character’s memories as you go.

Untitled Goose Game

  • Going Under - Sept. 24
