Nintendo Direct June 2023: Everything Announced

Today is a special day for Nintendo fans around the world as a brand-new Nintendo Direct has arrived. The show lasted a bit over 40 minutes and was filled with exciting announcements, including a brand new 2D Mario game in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a Super Mario RPG remake, a release date and new trailer for Detective Pikachu 2, the confirmation that the Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1 will be released on Switch, and much more.

There were a TON of reveals during the Nintendo Direct, and this roundup will gather each and every one to ensure you don't miss a thing.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a Brand-New 2D Mario, Revealed

The big finale for June's Nintendo Direct was Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a brand-new 2D Mario that will be released on Switch on October 20, 2023. The trailer featured an extended look at gameplay and even showed off a new Elephant power-up for Mario.

One of the big new surprises for this 2D Mario game is the Wonder Flowers, as they make wild and unexpected things happen in the world like causing pipes to come to life. Furthermore, it will let players choose whether to play as Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, and Yoshi.

Super Mario RPG Remake Announced for 2023

SNES' Super Mario RPG is getting the remake treatment and it will launch on Nintendo Switch on November 17, 2023. This adventure, which stars Mario, Bowser, Princess Peach, Mallow, Geno, and more, sees our heroes attempting to take down the Smithy Gang while collecting seven stars to repair the Star Road.

Detective Pikachu 2 Coming to Nintendo Switch in October

While it has been some time since we've heard anything about the next Detective Pikachu entry, the game has finally re-emerged with a new trailer and a release date of October 6, 2023.

This new game promises to dive deep into the origins of Detective Pikachu and allow players to solve a ton of mysteries across Ryme City alongside Tim Goodman and other Pokemon.

Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1 Confirmed for Nintendo Switch

While Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1 was previously announced, today's Direct confirmed it will also be headed to Switch on October 24, 2023. This collection includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Snake's Revenge, a screenplay book containing in-game text of each title, and a master book detailing the story and characters.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Zelda and Ganondorf to Get amiibo Later This Year

There wasn't much news from the world of The Legend of Zelda at this Nintendo Direct, but it was confirmed that Tears of the Kingdom's Zelda and Ganondorf will be getting amiibo during Holiday 2023.

WarioWare: Move It! Will Bring the Microgame Party to Switch This November

The latest WarioWare game - WarioWare: Move It! - will be released on Switch on November 6, 2023, and will get players up on their feet to compete in over 200 wild and hilarious microgames. Up to four players can play at once and this game seems to be all about holding a set of Joy-Con and just being as ridiculous as possible by performing actions like shaking, striking certain poses, dancing, and more.

New Pikmin 4 Details and Gameplay Revealed

Ahead of its July 21 release date, Nintendo has shared even more info about Pikmin 4, including about a Dandori Battle mini-game, news about your adorable dog friend Oatchi who can carry items, smash obstacles, and become a flotation device, and more.

It was also revealed you'll be able to set off on night expeditions for the first time in the series, and you may even run into some Pikmin who glow.

If you are still on the fence with Pikmin 4, Nintendo has also confirmed a demo for the game will arrive on June 28.

HD Versions of Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 Are Headed to the Nintendo Switch eShop Later Today

GameCube's Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 will be headed to the Nintendo Switch eShop later today, and these versions will arrive in HD. Players will be able to purchase them individually or as a bundle, and a physical version containing both games will be released on September 22.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Expansions Get a New Look

We got a new look at Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion, which includes the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk. The Teal Mask will arrive this fall and The Indigo Disk will follow in winter.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Adds a New Course Alongside Petey Piranha, Wiggler, and Kamek

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass Wave 5 will be released this summer and brings with it a new course in Squeaky Clean Spring and three new characters - Mario Kart: Double Dash's Petey Piranha, Mario Kart 7's Wiggler, and Mario Kart Tour's Kamek.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon Remaster Announced Along With Princess Peach Game

As if a Super Mario RPG remake wasn't enough, Nintendo has also revealed a remaster of 3DS' Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and a brand-new game starring Princess Peach will be arriving in 2024. Sonic Superstars was revealed at Summer Game Fest 2023, and today's Nintendo Direct gave fans of the Blue Blur a new look at the game in action.

Sonic Superstars will be released this fall.
