Nintendo Direct February 2023: Everything Announced Including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

It's the best kind of day because a brand-new Nintendo Direct has arrived. It was an exciting show that gave us a brand-new look at The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a shadow drop of Metroid Prime Remastered, the reveal of today's launch of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games on Nintendo Switch Online, a Pikmin 4 release date, and so much more.

There were a TON of other big announcements, and we've gathered each and every reveal and trailer for all the games headed soon to Nintendo Switch.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Gets a New Gameplay Trailer, Collector's Edition, and Link amiibo

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was the final game featured in the Nintendo Direct and we got a brand-new look at the much-anticipated sequel to 2017's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In addition, Nintendo also shared a first look at the game's collector's edition and a new Link amiibo.

The standard edition of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be the first Switch exclusive to retail for $69.99. The collector's edition, on the other hand, will cost $129.99 and it includes a physical version of the game, an artbook, a Steelbook case, an Iconart steel poster, and a set of four pin badges.

The new Link amiibo will give players access to "material and weapons, as well as a special fabric for Link's paraglider.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is still set to be released on May 12, 2023.

Metroid Prime Remastered Is Being Released on Nintendo Switch Today, February 8

After years of rumors, Metroid Prime Remastered is real. If that wasn't exciting enough, Nintendo is releasing the game today on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Physical copies of the game will also be available on February 22.

While there will be new dual-stick controls in this remaster, there will also be an additional control option that will recreate the feel of the original game.

Unfortunatley for Metroid fans, there was no mention of Metroid Prime 4 or remasters of Metroid Prime 2 and 3.

Pikmin 4 Release Date Revealed Alongside an Adorable Dog Helper

Pikmin 4 kicked off February's Nintendo Direct and gave us a peaceful and beautiful look at the game's world and the creatures that inhabit it. Alongside seeing the familiar Pikmin that will be helping us out on our journey, we also got our first look at a dog-like creature named Oatchi who will be helping us on our journeys. He can help you with enemies, remove obstacles, and carry the player and Pikmin across water. There will also be a new Ice Pikmin that can freeze enemies, bodies of water, and more.

Pikmin 4 will be released on Switch on July 21, 2023.

Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Games Will Be Available on Nintendo Switch Online Today, February 8

Nintendo has confirmed that Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games will be headed to Switch via Nintendo Switch Online later today, February 8. All Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will have access to the Game Boy games, while those with the Expansion Pack will get access to Game Boy Advance games.

The Game Boy games that will be available at launch are Tetris, Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda, Link's Awakening DX, Gargoyle's Quest, Game & Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Metroid II - Return of Samus, Wario Land 3, and Kirby's Dream Land.

The games can all be played with filters based off how the Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, and Game Boy Color looked, and you can play locally or online with friends.

The Game Boy Advance games that will be available at launch are The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Microgame$, Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. These games also support local and online play with friends.

There will be more games added in the future as well, and Nintendo gave a tease that some of these include The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Ages, Pokemon Trading Card Game, Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble, Metroid Fusion, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Fire Emblem, F-Zero Maximum Velocity, and Golden Sun.

Advance Wars 1+2: Boot Camp Release Date Revealed

After a long delay, Advance Wars 1+2: Boot Camp will be released on Nintendo Switch on April 21, 2023.

Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass Will Take Our Inklings Back to Splatoon 1's Inkopolis

Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass has been announced and it will take our Inklings back to Splatoon 1's Inkopolis. The Squid Sisters will also be returning for special concerts when this first wave of DLC arrives in Spring 2023. Another DLC drop for the expansion pass will arrive in the future and is called Side Order. Not many details were revealed, but it looks to potentially be a new single-player story.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass Volume 3 Adds a New Hero and 'More Tough Challenges'

Volume 3 of Xenoblade Chronicles 3's Expansion Pass will be available on February 15 and will add a new hero and the Archsage's Gauntlet, which offers rogue-like challenge battles.

Fire Emblem Engage's New DLC Features Chrom, Robin, Samilla, and a New Story Mode

Nintendo revealed some more of its DLC plans of Fire Emblem Engage, and they include new heroes Merrin, Hector, Soren, Camilla, Chrom, Robin, and Veronica. Furthermore, Wave 4 will feature a new story called Fell Xenologue.

Disney Illusion Island Will Bring Some Disney Magic to Switch This July

We got another look at Disney Illusion Island, a co-op platformer starring Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald Duck. Each character has their own special abilities and the artstyle is just wonderfully adorable. In this new Disney adventure, our heroes will have to find three magical books and save small furry creatures named Hokuns.

Disney Illusion Island will be released on July 28, 2023.

Octopath Traveler 2 Demo Will Be Available Today, February 8

Octopath Traveler 2 is getting a demo today, February 8, that will let players transfer their saves over to the full game if they choose to purchase the full version.

Octopath Traveler 2 will be released on Switch on February 24, 2023.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon Gets a New Gameplay Trailer

Before Bayonetta became Bayonetta, she was a young apprentice witch named Cereza. This new spin-off will let players learn more about Bayonetta's earliest days alongside her infernal demon partner Cheshire. Players will need to use elemental powers of wood, rock, water, and fire to solve puzzles and complete your quest.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon will be released on March 17, 2023.

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection Brings Original 3 Games to Nintendo Switch and PC

Atlus has confirmed that the first three Etrian Odyssey games will be released on Switch and Steam on June 1, 2023, in a remastered collection.

Samba de Amigo: Party Central Will Have You Dancing in Summer 2023

Samba de Amigo: Party Central is a new rhythm game headed to Nintendo Switch in Summer 2023 that will have you up and dancing with your Joy-Con controllers. There will be over 40 songs from a wide range of different genres and this game will be the first one in the series since 2008.

The newest Samba de Amigo game also features a World Party mode that lets you take your dancing skills online. If you'd rather have a local dance party, the game supports that as well.

Omega Strikers Is a Free-to-Play Online Multiplayer Soccer/Air-Hockey Game

Omega Strikers is a free-to-play online multiplayer game that looks to combine the best parts of soccer and air-hockey. It also features a 3v3 matches, the ability to "sling slime, toss tofu, and rocket boost," a colorful artstyle, and it should provide a lot of fun when it is released on April 27, 2023.
