Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Reveals First Gameplay, And It Looks Beautiful

At the Xbox Partner Preview showcase, Konami shared the first look at gameplay for its upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. And it looks breathtaking.

While brief, the gameplay trailer showed off the signature stealth gameplay in action. From Snake crossing through the water while close to a crocodile to him just about to take out an enemy with a pistol equipped with a Silencer attachment.

More interestingly, the end of the trailer confirmed that the game will be running on Epic's Unreal Engine 5, confirming earlier reports that the highly anticipated remake would run on Unreal Engine. Brief gameplay aside, the teaser also provided a good look at Metal Gear Solid 3 running on Unreal Engine 5, with various cuts to several in-game environments and close-ups of animals, such as a snake slithering in the grass or a frog swimming in the water.

A remake for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was announced in late May during the Sony State of Play showcase officially under the name of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. While people were confused that the remake features the Delta (Δ) symbol instead of the number 3, Konami explained that including the Δ symbol in the remake's title was to signify the changes being made to the original game released almost 20 years ago.

Despite some changes being made to the game, the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake will retain some things featured in the original. More specifically, it will reuse the same voice lines from the original game.
