Best of 2022: Games, Movies, TV Shows, Comics and Anime

1 year 5 months ago

It's hard to believe, but 2022 is about to come to a close. As we look forward to the incredible stories and moments waiting for us in 2023, we think it's the perfect time to celebrate what made this year so special in the world of entertainment and games.

To accomplish this goal, we will be revealing our nominees for the best video games, movies, TV shows, comics and anime of 2022 over the course of this week, and next week the winners will be revealed. We wish the best of luck to all nominees and, win or not, they should all be proud of what they accomplished this past year.

Best Movies of 2022

We kicked off the week by revealing our picks for the best films of 2022. From Everything Everywhere All at Once to RRR to Top Gun: Maverick and more, moviegoers were treated to a wide range of stories well worth that bucket of popcorn.

This year, we have five movie categories, and they are as follows:

Best Comic Book and Anime Series of 2022

On Monday, we also revealed our nominees for Best Comic Book and Best Anime Series of the past 12 months. Check out the titles that made the cut at the links below:

Best TV Series of 2022

While people around the world used to have to go to the theater to see the biggest and best stories and stars, TV shows these days can proudly go toe-to-toe with anything seen on the big screen. 2022 was a shining example of that, as we were treated to the likes of Andor, Better Call Saul, House of the Dragon, Severance, The Bear, and so much more.

On Tuesday, we revealed our nominees for the best of the best in the world of TV in 2022, and you can check out all the categories below:

Best Video Games of 2022

Wondering where our nominees are for the best video games? Fear not, as they are all coming tomorrow, December 7, and will be added to this page when they go live!

To be eligible for IGN's 2022 video game, movie, TV show, comics and anime awards, a significant portion of our editorial staff must have been able to view or play the title in question on or before December 2, 2022. We reserve the right to write-in any title as a nomination if it is released by December 9, 2020, or if enough of our editorial staff are able to judge the title in a pre-release environment.

In deciding which categories to hold awards for this year, we wanted to make sure we were able to include a variety of video games, movies, TV shows, comics and anime from a diverse range of talent.
