1 year 6 months ago

Trials of Osiris, Destiny 2's weekly high-level PvP mode, is now live. Fans of the apex multiplayer mode can battle for a great Adept weapon this weekend, with the map on rotation being a classic arena.

Here's where you'll play Trials of Osiris this weekend and what weapons you can earn for going flawless. You can also see where Xur is, and if the Agent of the Nine's inventory can help give you an edge in the arena after this week's mid-season weapon-tuning update.

Map: The Burnout

  • Reputation Rank 4: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 7: Enhancement Prism (3)
  • Reputation Rank 10: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Reputation Rank 13: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 16: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Flawless Reward: Reed’s Regret (Adept)

Trials weapons now carry the Alacrity Origin Trait. It gives you increased aim assist, reload speed, stability, and range on your Trials guns when you're the last living member of a fireteam or running solo. You can also choose to swap to the Crucible Origin trait, One Quiet Moment, which greatly enhances your gun's reload speed when you reload while out of combat.

As always, Trials becomes available from Friday's daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET until the weekly reset at the same time the following Tuesday. During that time, you can also pay a visit to Xur to see what Exotics he's selling. Make sure to pay a visit to Saint-14 in the Tower to pick up a Trials card, which will dictate certain bonuses (such as whether you get bonus rewards at certain milestones or if a loss will be forgiven).

1 year 6 months ago

The Callisto Protocol, the next game from Dead Space and Call of Duty veteran Glen Schofield, has gone gold. This means development on the game is finished to a point where it is ready to be printed on discs. The developers at Striking Distance Studios aren't just sitting around until the game's December 2 release date, however, as it's understood that work continues after this milestone.

In any event, "going gold" is a major milestone in a game's development, and it means The Callisto Protocol is one step closer to releasing in stores and digitally. This is Striking Distance's first game.

Silent Hill: Ascension Is A New Interactive Streaming Experience Set To Release In 2023

1 year 6 months ago

During the Silent Hill Transmission presentation, Konami revealed multiple new Silent Hill projects--including an "interactive streaming experience" called Silent Hill: Ascension. Genvid (specialist in creating video game and streaming show hybrids), Bad Robot Games, Behavior Interactive (Dead by Daylight dev), and DJ2 Entertainment (company that adapts video games to TV and film) are behind this new title, and the project is set to release in 2023.

The trailer shows text that looks like people chatting with each other online--very Twitch chat-esque--with one exclaiming, "Can we save her?" The trailer tagline is "face your traumas together."

Judging by the stacked lineup and what each of these companies do, Silent Hill: Ascension seems similar to The Walking Dead: Last Mile. Last Mile is set up as a weekly streaming show with character's actions influenced by viewers and players' decisions.

"It's a live real-time interactive series where millions of fans will watch together as the chilling story unfolds," said Genvid CEO Jacob Navok. "You can change its outcomes and even be a part of scenes." Players' decisions are final however, and there is no reset button.

Silent Hill F Is A Brand-New Game In The Franchise From Resident Evil Re:Verse Dev

1 year 6 months ago

During the Silent Hill Transmission today, Konami announced the next core game in the Silent Hill franchise: Silent Hill F, which will be developed by Resident Evil Re:Verse developer Neobards Entertainment.

The game's story will be penned by famed Japanese writer Ryukishi07, the author of the When They Cry visual novel series. Motoi Okamoto, who previously worked at Nintendo from 1998 to 2007, has been named a producer on the project.

The trailer shows a girl standing over what looks to be a memorial of some kind, which is adorned with red and pink flowers. The video then shifts to a town overrun by red vines, which slowly take over a Japanese village and attempt to capture the girl. The final scene shows the same girl floating on a small boat after being overtaken by the mysterious plants, who then looks at the screen and sheds a single tear before her face falls off of her head.

Silent Hill: Townfall Teaser Trailer Revealed

1 year 6 months ago

As part of October 19's Silent Hill Transmission, a new entry in the Silent Hill series has been revealed. Silent Hill: Townfall is a collaboration between Konami, Annapurna Interactive, and the BAFTA award-winning No Code studio. While the conference featured a short teaser trailer, not much has been revealed about the upcoming game. However, No Code creative director Jon McKellan stated the game respects the Silent Hill franchise, while doing "something a little bit different" with the series' source material.

Alongside Silent Hill: Townfall's reveal, Konami shared a short teaser trailer of the game. The clip consists of a series of gruesome images and videos displayed on a CRTV pocket television. In the background, a man coldly demands to know why the listener is here. The listener then replies, "to be punished," though the speaker doesn't seem entirely convinced. The trailer ends with a flash of a man in glasses before revealing the game's title card.

Though the trailer was fairly hard to decipher, McKellan alluded to possible Easter eggs hidden within the short video. Following the teaser trailer, McKellan stated, "it might be worth watching that trailer again and seeing what you might have missed."

Silent Hill 2 Remake Officially Announced

1 year 6 months ago

After months of speculation and reports, Konami officially confirmed its Silent Hill 2 remake during the Silent Hill Transmission video presentation. The game, which opened the presentation with an impressive trailer, looks to be rebuilt from the ground up while still keeping the essence of the 2001 original intact.

The trailer gives us a look at the new James Sunderland, who has ventured to Silent Hill to rescue his wife Mary--long believed dead. We see some signature series elements in the trailer, as well, including the fog-filled streets and a few familiar enemies. Those, naturally, include Pyramid Head.

Silent Hill 2 is in development at Bloober Team and is a PS5 console exclusive. It is just one Silent Hill project currently in the works, with Silent Hill: Ascension and Silent Hill F also in development. Additionally, there are a number of special collectibles being made, including an Inu-End coin bank as a nod to Silent Hill 2's joke ending.

Netflix Is Developing 55 Games Currently

1 year 6 months ago

Netflix's relatively new gaming section launched at the end of 2021, and in 2022, the company has been ramping up its library with games--some of them quite impressive, like the mobile port of Into The Breach Advanced Edition. But it appears the company not only wants ports, but also wants to develop original games as well.

According to Netflix's Q3 investor letter and a TechCrunch Disrupt event, the company has 55 games currently in development. Some of them are based on Netflix's existing IPs, and Netflix is looking at generating attention between media formats. An example Netflix cites is the synergy between Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Cyberpunk 2077, as the anime brought viewers-turned-players over to CD Projekt Red's other games.

Netflix says it's seeing "some encouraging signs of gameplay leading to higher retention." Though as far as August 2022, a report revealed that less than 1% of Netflix subscribers actually venture into the gaming section.

Development of original games means that Netflix is also opening and acquiring studios. Chacko Sonny, who worked on both Overwatch and God of War, is set to open a new studio under Netflix. What games Sonny is spearheading is currently unknown. Netflix also bought Oxenfree devs Night School Studios recently and currently owns five internal studios in total.

Overwatch 2 - Sombra Hero Guide

1 year 6 months ago

Overwatch 2 is full of changes to the hero shooter, some of which have made Sombra is a top-tier hero. The switch to 5v5 with one less tank and the removal of some crowd control abilities means that Sombra has a much easier time flanking the enemy team and getting away unscathed. Here's how to best play as the hacker Sombra in Overwatch 2.

You can see how all heroes, including this one, stack up in our Overwatch 2 tank tier list, DPS tier list, and support tier list. Where did your favorite land?

Sombra overview

Overwatch 2's resident hacker comes equipped with a high-powered machine pistol, which has a short effective range, but is deadly at short distances. Sombra is designed to be a flanker and a disruptor. Typically, you want to find a health pack, hack it, and set up your Translocator. After that, use Stealth to flank the enemy team, hack someone on the back line, preferably a support hero, and kill them. Once they die or you are close to death, use the Translocator to teleport out and get health from the hacked health pack. Rinse and repeat, leaving the enemy team disoriented and down a support at every opportunity.

Sombra abilities

Machine Pistol: Short-ranged automatic weapon.

Hack: Hold to hack. Hacked enemies cannot use abilities for a few seconds and can be seen through walls. Hacked health packs respawn faster and cannot be picked up by the enemy team. Taking damage interrupts the hack attempt.

Destiny 2 Exotic Shotgun Lord of Wolves Temporarily Disabled After Unintentional Damage Boost

1 year 6 months ago

The Lord of Wolves Exotic shotgun has been disabled in Destiny 2 after Bungie found it dealt more damage than intended.

In a tweet, the Bungie Help account announced the gun's temporary removal. Bungie is targeting a fix for next week's update and more information will come when it is available.

One of the features of today's patch was an adjustment of Lord of Wolves, changing its Release the Wolves mode to be more balanced in PvP. In detail, the patch removed a 25% universal base damage buff, replacing it with a 40% PvE buff. The patch also removed a 50% critical hit multiplier plenty and reduced ADS accuracy penalty from 10x to 3x. These fixes should have helped the gun become see a more balanced usage in PvP, but until a fix is introduced, it just made the gun even more powerful.

This is not the only glitch to enter into the game from this patch. Players found that Spectral Pages would not correctly spawn, preventing players from completing an early quest as part of the Festival of the Lost. Bungie Help announced that a hotfix has already released to address the problem.

Overwatch 2 - Torbjorn Hero guide

1 year 6 months ago

Torbjorn is one of the many returning heroes in Overwatch 2 and he remains largely unchanged from the original game. Armed with a Rivet Gun and an auto-turret, Torbjorn is great for defending an objective or providing your team with a bit of extra fire power. Torbjorn can also be used to set up a chokepoint in the new Push game mode as well. Here's how to best utilize Torbjorn in Overwatch 2.

You can see how all heroes, including this one, stack up in our Overwatch 2 tank tier list, DPS tier list, and support tier list. Where did your favorite land?

Torbjorn overview

Torbjorn is a damage dealer who has an auto turret he can set up to deal additional damage. While the auto turret has a high damage output, Tobjorn himself is still capable of dealing damage to enemies all on his own. In addition to the turret, Torbjorn is equipped with a Rivet Gun, which can fire long distance projectiles or a short distance shotgun blast. Trobjorn also has the ability to Overload, increasing his speed and attack rate. His ultimate is Molten Core, which covers a section of the map in hot lava, which kills enemies standing in it.

Torbjorn abilities

Rivet Gun: Primary fire is a slow-firing, long-ranged weapon. Secondary fire is an inaccurate but powerful short-ranged blast.

Forge Hammer: Swing to repair turret damage or deal damage to enemies.

Deploy Turret: Deploy a self-building turret.

Warhammer 40K Darktide Adds An Intriguing New Wrinkle To The Left 4 Dead Formula

1 year 6 months ago

It was just a few months ago that I wrote about the legacy of Left 4 Dead and its many descendants that have emerged over the years. These "horde shooters," as I call them, are so numerous that it's hard to get an accurate headcount, but one of the teams doing the best work in that space has long been Fatshark. First with the two games in the Warhammer Vermintide series, and now with the forthcoming Warhammer 40K spin-off, Darktide, it's been fun to watch how this team has reimagined and sometimes improved on the core of such games created by Left 4 Dead nearly 15 years ago.

The recent Darktide closed beta was yet another example of how studios making games like Left 4 Dead aren't content to just rehash the same material, but rather seek to redefine the co-op horde shooter genre. Darktide adds a new wrinkle with its robust character creator that gives purpose and personhood to my monster-maiming anti-hero like few games in the subgenre ever do.

In Darktide, character selection is so much more than choosing a class or a favorite face. You don't choose a character as much as you create one from the ground up, accounting for their whole life through detailed backstory that feels ripped right out of the Warhammer lore bible. With its history tied to tabletop RPGs, maybe I should've seen it coming, but as it's a facet that even Vermintide didn't offer, it took me by surprise.

PS5 Remains Naughty Dog's Primary Platform Despite Recent PC Launch

1 year 6 months ago

In a PlayStation Blog post reflecting on the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves' Collection PC port, Naughty Dog said the company is still focused on developing games for the PlayStation 5. This is no surprise as Naughty Dog has been owned by Sony since 2001, and its games have been PlayStation exclusives at launch for that stretch of time.

But with the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves port, co-developed with Iron Galaxy, and the upcoming, but currently unreleased, The Last of Us Part I PC port, Naughty Dog said it wants to also serve PC players--a move the company stated is an important part of how it'll release games going forward. "We’re excited to be offering The Last of Us Part I on PC in the future, and know that, moving forward, adding PC development to the way we develop games," said Naughty Dog, "which in no way undermines the importance of PlayStation 5 as our primary platform, will continue to benefit our team in the long run.

In the post, Naughty Dog also said it chose Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy as its initial foray into PC ports because the "beautiful, globetrotting stories of the Uncharted series felt like a natural fit to introduce to players all around the world." Naughty Dog opted to not start with a port the first three Uncharted games due to how much retrofitting the team would've needed in order to update the graphics and bring it up to standards for a modern PC release.

Netflix Might Release A Gaming Streaming Service, But It Isn't Trying To Replace Your Console

1 year 6 months ago

Netflix is pushing deeper into the world of video games. It has 55 new games in development and now owns five internal game development studios. What's next for Netflix's big gaming push? It could be a streaming service not unlike Google Stadia or Amazon Luna.

Netflix gaming boss Mike Verdu said at a TechCrunch event this week that the company is "very seriously exploring a cloud gaming offering" for TV and PC. Netflix already releases games on mobile, but this new service would seemingly target those additional platforms.

"We'll approach this the same way we did with mobile, which is start small, be humble, be thoughtful, and then build out. But it is a step we think we should take to meet members where they are, on the devices where they consume Netflix," Verdu said, as reported by VGC.

Fans may roll their eyes at yet another gigantic technology company trying to make waves in the gaming space with a streaming offering, but Verdu believes any streaming platform for games from Netflix would be complementary to the existing Netflix experience. In that way, it would stand apart from the likes of Google Stadia, which billed itself as a console replacement.

Overwatch 2 – Winston Hero Guide

1 year 6 months ago

Winston in Overwatch 2 is one of the most mobile tanks in Blizzard’s FPS game, capable of leaping across the field to sow discord among the enemy ranks. The jumping primate wields an electric laser beam that bypasses common obstacles such as Genji’s Deflect, but Winston struggles with distance combat. However, at close range, you barely even have to aim to deal damage. Here's how to play well with Overwatch's great ape.

You can see how all heroes, including this one, stack up in our Overwatch 2 tank tier list, DPS tier list, and support tier list. Where did your favorite land?

Winston overview

Winston is a different kind of tank, one whose defense capabilities take a backseat to mobility and ease of use. Winston’s electric laster has a wide hitbox, which means it connects and deals damage even if your aim isn’t precise. Jump Pack lets Winston cover an impressive amount of distance in seconds, perfect for distracting enemies and giving your DPS units a break so they can move forward.

Just don’t expect his Barrier Projector shield to withstand much fire. Barrier Projector is one of the weaker shields in the game since heroes can move freely in and out of it, but with the right planning and a bit of help from your teammates, you can still make good use of this protective bubble.

Gotham Knights Will Not Offer Performance Mode On Console, Runs Only At 30 FPS

1 year 6 months ago

After announcing a four-player co-op mode will be coming to Gotham Knights next month, Warner Bros. Montreal has shared another piece of less exciting news: The game will run at 30 frames per second on console with no performance mode option.

The announcement was made via the official Gotham Knights Discord server by the game's executive producer Fleur Marty. She confirmed that the game will not provide an option to switch between a high-quality graphics mode and a performance mode which will raise the frame rate.

"Due to the types of features we have in our game, like providing a fully untethered co-op experience in our highly detailed open world," Marty writes, "it's not as straightforward as lowering the resolution and getting a higher frame rate." Marty continues by confirming that Gotham Knights "does not have a performance/quality toggle option" and will run at "30 FPS on consoles."

The news follows the confirmation of a four-player co-op mode, called Heroic Assault, which will be added to the game for free on November 29. Heroic Assault will feature 30 levels of enemies and objectives for up to four players to challenge, joining the game's two-player co-op story mode.

Overwatch 2 - Mei Hero Guide

1 year 6 months ago

Mei in Overwatch 2 faced one of the biggest hero nerfs when Blizzard removed the freeze effect from her primary weapon. That leaves her with just one average DPS ability that can’t handle multiple threats at once. While Mei fans might think that’s the end of the road for Mei, she still has a strong role to play in battle. Here's how best to play Mei in Overwatch 2.

Mei overview

Mei is a hybrid support and DPS character whose abilities can inflict debuffs on enemies and help control the battlefield. Her primary weapon slows foes down, while her Ice Wall ability can divide the opposing team, block passageways, and even provide a temporary shield for your party depending on the situation. Unlike some DPS heroes, Mei can heal herself in a pinch, blocking all incoming damage and restoring her HP. Where Mei struggles is against more than one opponent, since her attacks are slow and can only target one enemy at a time.

Pokemon Go Elite Raids Will Offer An Extra Challenge… If You Can Get To Them

1 year 6 months ago

Pokemon Go players will soon have a new challenge to pursue (literally), as Niantic has announced Elite Raids, a brand-new type of raid that can only be challenged in-person.

Elite Raids are special raids that will randomly be inserted into existing gyms within Pokemon Go. Once they appear in a gym, the special Elite Raid egg will take 24 hours to hatch, meaning players in the area will have a full day to organize if they wish to challenge the raid. Once the 24 hours are up and the egg has hatched, the Pokemon inside will only be available to challenge for 30 minutes.

Hoopa Unbound returns in Pokemon Go Elite Raids.

The first Elite Raid will feature Hoopa Unbound, a powered-up version of the Kalos region's legendary Pokemon Hoopa. Both Pokemon originally appeared in Pokemon Go during the Season of Mischief in late 2021, with Hoopa Confined made available to Trainers after completing a special questline.

The Elite Raid announcement follows the reveal of Pokemon Go's Halloween event, which will take place across two parts beginning October 20. The event will introduce Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon into the wild, including a brand-new Mega Raid in Mega Banette, while also increasing the amount of Candy earned through catching or hatching Pokemon.

Pokemon Go is available to download now for free on iOS and Android devices.

Overwatch 2 - Reinhardt Hero Guide

1 year 6 months ago

Reinhardt in Overwatch 2 is the same sturdy tank as ever, causing headaches for the enemy team with his strong shield and rocket hammer. This time around, with just one tank on your team, Reinhardt’s task is a bit different, though. Protecting remains his forte, but you want to pair it with a strong offensive plan to help push past the enemy and seize victory. Here's how to best play as Reinhardt in Overwatch 2.

Reinhardt Overview

Reinhardt is a mighty force on the battlefield and one of the ultimate defenders. His powerful barrier can withstand heavy assaults and keep your team safe while they push forward to claim the objective, and anyone who gets too close gets treated to the taste of Reinhardt’s hefty rocket hammer. The tank does struggle with long-range combat and can be easily overwhelmed in the wrong circumstances, so don’t make the mistake of leaving him alone too long. Reinhardt works better with a team and, ideally, a healer nearby to make up for his lack of self-sustaining abilities.

The three-day beta is technically closed, however anyone can sign up via Steam for a chance to get access. Overwatch 2 - Tracer Hero Guide

1 year 6 months ago

Tracer in Overwatch 2 remains one of the most versatile DPS characters and a change from your usual strikers. While Tracer can still wrack up the damage counters, her biggest utility is in flanking, confusing, and distracting the enemy. Just make sure to watch her back. Tracer won’t last long in a direct fight. Here's all you need to know if you're planning on making this front-and-center hero your main.

Tracer overview

Tracer is a DPS hero who prioritizes speed over fancy weaponry. Her pulse pistols are the only damage-dealing ability she has, outside her ultimate, which means she can take a bit of getting used to if you’re expecting something like a fast Soldier 76. However, Tracer’s speediness is even more useful in Overwatch 2 than it ever was, as flanking and quick maneuvers take on more important roles and digging in with your tank is a thing of the past.

Tracer abilities

  • Pulse Pistols: Unleashes rapid-fire blasts from two pistols
  • Blink: Tracer teleports horizontally in the indicated direction. Can be used three times consecutively
  • Recall: Returns Tracer to a few seconds earlier in time
  • Pulse Bomb: Tracer throws a bomb that attaches to a character or surface and explodes after a few seconds

Now you see them

Tracer’s Blink ability makes her one of the fastest characters in the game. Unlike Genji, whose dash ability only works once before going on a long cooldown, Tracer can use hers almost constantly, as Blink has three charges. It only takes three seconds to restore one charge, so you can dash in and out of danger before enemies can even react.

Overwatch 2 - D.Va Hero Guide

1 year 6 months ago

Overwatch 2 is now available as a free-to-play game, letting anyone jump into the hero shooter. While the game has had some server issues and bugs, the launch has transitioned the original Overwatch into Overwatch 2. This brings a ton of new content, like the brand-new Push game mode, but it also brings back all of the heroes from the original Overwatch. Included in that roster is D.Va, a tank hero that operates a large mech. Here's how to best play D.Va in Overwatch 2.

D.Va overview

D.Va is a pilot inside a mech costume, which means whenever you run out of health, the pilot is ejected from the mech. This gives you the opportunity to deal damage and earn back the mech, which can be faster than respawning in some circumstances. D.Va is armed with two machine guns that have unlimited ammo, along with rockets, and a defense matrix that absorbs projectiles. The mech also has the ability to fly for a short period of time. D.Va has a high damage output for a tank, but doesn't have as much sustainability as other tanks.

D.Va abilities

Fusion Cannons (mech): Automatic short-range spread weapons.

Light Gun (pilot): Automatic pistol.

Boosters (mech): Fly in the direction you are facing.

Defense Matrix (mech): Block projectiles in the area in front of you.

Micro Missiles (mech): Launch a volley of explosive rockets.

Self-Destruct ultimate (mech): Eject and overload your mech, causing it to explode.

1 year 6 months ago

Nvidia "unlaunched" the 12GB RTX 4080 after community backlash concerning the shared name with the 16GB RTX 4080.

In a blog post on the Nvidia website, the company explained, "The RTX 4080 12GB is a fantastic graphics card, but it’s not named right. Having two GPUs with the 4080 designation is confusing." The post also confirms that the 16GB model is on track to release on November 16.

The 12GB model was original planned to launch alongside the 16GB model. Despite having the same name, the two GPUS are quite different under the hood, which caused confusion and criticism. The 16GB GDDR6X memory model has 76 RT cores, 9,728 CUDA cores, and a memory with a 22Gbps throughput and 256-bit bus. The 12GB GDDR6X memory model has 60 RT, 7,680 CUDA, and a slower memory with 21Gbps throughput and 192-bit bus. The difference also shows up in price. The 16GB will start at $1199 and the 12GB would have started at $899. Additionally, according to a report from the Hardware Times, the 12GB 4080 only outperformed the 3080 model by 12% and ran slower than the 3090 Ti.

The unlaunch means that there will not be a mid-range graphics card alongside alongside the 16GB 4080. There has been no word as to whether Nvidia will release the 12GB 4080 under a different name.

Overwatch 2 Hits 25 Million Players, Everyone Getting Free DLC And Double XP Soon

1 year 6 months ago

Overwatch 2's launch earlier this month wasn't exactly smooth, but the game has reached a massive new player milestone right out of the gate. Blizzard announced that the free-to-play shooter hit 25 million players in 10 days. The studio used the "mind-blown" emoji to describe the player number.

"Thank you to the 25 million players who have now jumped into Overwatch 2 with us," Blizzard said.

In a press release, Blizzard said Overwatch 2's daily player base is spread "near-even" across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia, and this is nearly triple the previous daily player peak numbers for the original Overwatch.

Blizzard also added that new hero Kiriko has proven popular with Overwatch 2 players so far, noting that her Kitsune Rush ability was used more than 2 million times in the first week.

What's more, Blizzard announced that players are getting special bonuses for their "enduring support" of Overwatch 2 and its issues since launch. Anyone who logs in from October 25 to the end of Season 1 will get the new Cursed Captain Reaper legendary skin and a Health Pack weapon charm. Additionally, there will be double XP weekends on tap, including:

EA Sports PGA Tour -- Everything We Know About EA's First Golf Game Since 2015

1 year 6 months ago

EA Sports was once synonymous with golf through its Tiger Woods series of golf sims, but that partnership ended, with EA later trying to revive the series with Rory McIlroy as the cover star. That didn't work out so well, and EA hasn't released a golf game on console since 2015. But that's about to end, as EA Sports PGA Tour is coming in Spring 2023, promising a lot.

This is all happening with the backdrop of the upheaval in professional golf with the controversial LIV Golf tournament series taking aim at the PGA Tour and stirring things up. EA Sports PGA Tour is going ahead despite all of this, and fans are hoping it’s a return to form.

We still don't know too much about EA Sports PGA Tour--only a very brief gameplay trailer has been released thus far--but it's never too early to get excited for the new golf game. Here are are rounding up everything we know about EA Sports PGA Tour.

Release Date And Platforms

EA Sports PGA Tour is set for release in Spring 2023 across "next generation platforms," EA said in an official FAQ. This likely means PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but whether or not the game comes to PC, PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch remains to be seen.

Apex Legends Season 15 Start Date, New Divided Moon Map, And Everything We Know

1 year 6 months ago

Apex Legends Season 15 is fast approaching as the final month of Season 14 begins to come to a close. Season 15 will likely be the final season of Apex Legends Year 4, meaning--if tradition holds--developer Respawn will be adding a new battle royale map in the upcoming season alongside a new playable legend, battle pass, and story-driven Quest.

The potential of a fifth battle royale map raises several questions as to how Respawn is going to handle map rotations going forward. As of right now, only one battle royale map leaves Apex Legends' map rotation per seasonal split, leaving three maps in each rotation. If a fifth map is added, will the seasonal rotation be bumped up to four maps or will Apex Legends start having two maps out of rotation each split? We'll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, we can at least talk about what we do know about Season 15. Below, we cover everything we know about Apex Legends Season 15 so far, including when the new season starts, who the new legend is, and where the new map is located.

Start date

Respawn has not officially confirmed the start date for Apex Legends Season 15, but we can look to the patterns of recent seasons to make an educated guess. New Apex Legends seasons typically start the day that the previous season ends. In this case, Season 14 concludes on November 1, so it stands to reason that Season 15 will start on November 1.

Sky: Children Of The Light Is Collaborating With Frozen 2 Singer For Its Next Season

1 year 6 months ago

Sky: Children of the Light's development team has announced that its new season will be a collaboration with Norwegian musician Aurora, fittingly titled the Season of Aurora. The new season is set to arrive on October 17, bringing with it a new story told through song, four new Spirits, and plenty of new cosmetic items.

The new season will feature Aurora herself as the season's Guide, who can be found in the Valley of Triumph's Coliseum. Aurora will be joined by four new seasonal Spirits who are the quest-givers for the season. The seasonal quests will each have a story written by Aurora and told through song in a way that fleshes out the world of Sky. The quests can be completed multiple times by returning to the starting point.

The new items coming for this season include new masks, capes, outfits, and new musical sheets that will allow players to play Aurora's music on their in-game instruments.

Some of these cosmetics will be available to all players who play through the season content, but to unlock all of the items, players will have to unlock the $10 season pass. Extra items will also be available directly from the shop such as the Runaway hairstyle and outfit, and the Tiara We Can Touch accessory.

Hot Drop: How Apex Legends Mobile Fits Into Apex Legends' Lore

1 year 7 months ago

Hot Drop is GameSpot's Apex Legends column, in which Jordan Ramée takes a closer look at Respawn's battle royale to provide additional insight into the game's evolution, as well as dive deeper into its episodic storytelling and characters.

Man, I haven't written a Hot Drop in a hot minute. And for that, I apologize. Y'all deserve regular opportunities to get in the comments and tell me how absurd my many Apex Legends' theories are, or how I'm 100% correct in my prediction that the Apex Games are moving to the moon of Seer's home planet, Boreas, in Season 15. To make up for my absence, let's talk about something spicy, like Apex Legends Mobile lore.

Apex Legends Mobile has been a tricky topic for Apex Legends lore hounds because it seemingly goes against a lot of the established history and storyline of Respawn's battle royale. In Apex Legends Mobile, the legends fight on the original versions of Kings Canyon and World's Edge, which makes little sense given how both have been regularly destroyed and rebuilt over the seasons in the console/PC game.

Move Over, Dark Souls: The From Software Title Inspiring A New Wave Of Games Is King's Field

1 year 7 months ago

Few games are as influential to the modern gaming world as King's Field, From Software's 1994 PlayStation 1 dungeon crawler. Almost every game in From Software's catalog owes something to King's Field. The studio iterated on King's Field's dark fantasy setting, unrelenting difficulty, and hands-off storytelling until eventually spawning Demon's Souls and, most recently, Elden Ring. Without King's Field, there is no Armored Core, Sekiro, or any of the vast swathes of games from other studios inspired by From Software's now-prolific catalog.

King's Field is also notable for bridging the gap between console and computer RPGs that existed in the early '90s. King's Field blended the real-time combat, free-roam first-person movement, and player-driven exploration of '90s PC dungeon crawlers like Ultima Underworld with the streamlined role-playing mechanics and minimalist storytelling of early console RPGs like Dragon Quest. The result is a wholly unique RPG unlike any game before it--or after it, for that matter.

Yet, despite its importance, few people know of King's Field today, and even fewer have played it or its sequels and spin-offs.

Part of the issue is availability. From Software rarely ports its older titles to new consoles outside of Japan, where some older From games have reappeared as PS1 classics on the PlayStation Store. However, none of the three King's Field titles released in North America have ever been ported to newer consoles, and only two of its spin-offs are currently available on the US PlayStation storefronts: Eternal Ring on PS4 and PS5 and Shadow Tower on PS3 and Vita. Fans routinely ask the studio to port or remaster King's Field and its other classic dungeon crawlers, but From Soft president Hidetaka Miyazaki is openly hesitant to touch the series without King's Field's original producer, Naotoshi Zin.

Ska Band Half Past Two Releases Music Video Shot Entirely In The Sims 3

1 year 7 months ago

Move over, AMVs--The Sims music videos are what's hot right now and Orange County ska band Half Past Two is out to prove it. Earlier today, the ska ensemble released their music video for "Curtain Call," which was shot entirely in The Sims 3.

The music video kicks off with a sim version of the band's lead singer, Tara Hahn, riding her bicycle before kicking into the upbeat, pop-punk track. What ensues is a whole lot of Sim-ly hijinks involving trampolines, bull-riding, and the game's infamous Dance Sphere.

Much like any other music video, this endeavor featured a director: Rae Mystic. While Mystic has shot plenty of music videos using more traditional methods (including some of Half Past Two's previous videos), filming one entirely in The Sims 3 was a new and exciting challenge for them.

"I’ve been playing The Sims since the first generation of it and I’ve always wanted to make a Sims music video, since I was a kid," Mystic said in a press release. "I posted on Twitter expressing my wish and Half Past Two was the first band to jump on."

Riot Discusses Its Diversity Efforts For Wild Rift And The Power Spike Update

1 year 7 months ago

League of Legends: Wild Rift was released in October 2020 and has already amassed more than 20 million average monthly players. Wild Rift takes many favorites from League of Legends proper such as Ahri, Senna, Lucian, Vi, Jinx, and Caitlyn to name a few, and lets players use them in mobile team matches. If you're unfamiliar, Wild Rift works from the core League of Legends as a pivotal foundation but employs mechanics, game length, and even character choices differently from the PC game.

The characters, however, do stay true to their PC counterparts mechanically and aesthetically. Wild Rift matches are about 15 minutes long in comparison to League of Legends' typical 45 minutes. Wild Rift is basically an expedited version of playing League of Legends on your phone, but flourishes in its own right, grabbing players from all over with the ease of playing with mobile. GameSpot recently sat in on a roundtable discussion of Wild Rift’s newest patch, 3.14: Power Spike. This patch adds new items, characters, and balance changes to the Wild Rift roster and it's available now.

If you want to check out exact balance changes, and specific stats buffs/nerfs to characters, you can check out the Champion Changes for Wild Rift 3.4 that goes into detail on all of your number needs. You can go here for the patch notes but below you can learn about what's new and on the horizon for Wild Rift from the developers directly.

With more players joining each month, the game having in-game events that have implemented special rulings, and the continual release of new cards and packs such as the Adventurer Token engine, it's a good time to be a Master Duel player. This game is the best way to play a digital Yu-Gi-Oh format thanks to the many quality-of-life additions based on card usage, modes, rewards, and more.

Konami does not always provide exact or even vague reasoning for its banlist implementations even in the trading card game (TCG) itself. Hopefully, this guide will grant you a clearer understanding of why certain cards became forbidden, limited, or semi-limited.

Apex Legends Dataminer Appears To Have Uncovered Spooky New LTM Map

1 year 7 months ago

Every October, Apex Legends throws its annual Halloween event, featuring an LTM called Shadow Royale that sees legends turned into zombie-like Shadows with supernatural speed and strength. But after a prolific Apex Legends dataminer uncovered evidence of a new Halloween event, it seems the game's developers may have something different in store for trick-or-treaters this year: the new Gun Run LTM, set in a shadowy version of the Olympus map.

The dataminer, who has previously leaked the contents of Apex Legends' battle passes well before they debuted in-game, posted an image to his Discord server that seemed to suggest an upcoming version of Gun Run set on a map called "Haunted Estates," which appears to be a Halloween-ified version of Olympus' Autumn Estates POI.
