Soulja Boy Gaming Console Part 2 After First Attempt Massively Failed

3 years 2 months ago
Instagram

After his first attempt at breaking into the gaming industry as a console manufacturer was ripped apart, it looks like rapper Soulja Boy is ready to crank out try number two. The first try at making his own console began in 2019 when he tried to peddle a "new design." Immediately, he was met with cease and desist notifications from major companies in the business while the rapper took potshots at former Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime when he said he "made him retire." After numerous jokes and utter silence, it looks like Soulja Boy is ready to crank the gaming market once more.

The first trailer for the upcoming Warner Bros. Mortal Kombat has arrived and dare we say that it actually looks ... good? If you haven’t seen it yet, first off what are you doing?! Go watch that first. Okay, now that you’re back, sit down with us as we review and unpack all of that gruesome kombat.

The trailer gave us good looks at beloved characters like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Liu Kang as well as insight on the plot surrounding newcomer Cole Young. He’s got a weird deal with a mystical birthmark (which means he was born with it, in case that isn't clear) and it’s a bit odd. We’ll have to wait until the film premieres on April 16 to see what’s going on with that.

In the meantime, join Alex Stadnik and Mortal Kombat fans Marcus Stewart and Brian Shea as they discuss the things that worked in the trailer, the parts they’re iffy about, and their overall excitement and hopes for the final film. Everything You Need To Know About Next Week's Outriders Demo

3 years 2 months ago

People Can Fly delayed Outriders’ release to April 1, but softened that blow by announcing a rather large demo for fans to check out starting on February 25. That’s just a few days away, so the developer took to Twitter (first spotted by Eurogamer) to give excited players the rundown on what to expect from the upcoming trial.

First off, People Can Fly hammers home that this will be a free demo and not a beta. It’ll be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The install size for PC requires a minimum of 24GB. On consoles, you’ll need at least 22GB. The dev teams notes that the size for both could increase after decompression. You will not be able to pre-install the demo beforehand.

Hitman 3 Imports Work Correctly On PC Now

3 years 2 months ago

Hitman 3 is a fun game, and one of the most interesting things about it is how it allows players to import locations from the previous two installments. However, the process isn't exactly intuitive, and we have a whole guide on how to do it here. But at launch, PC players faced an added complication related to the game's exclusivity on Epic Games Store. In short, if those players owned Hitman 1 or 2 on Steam, they needed to re-purchase the games on Epic Games Store in order to access the content.

Developer IO Interactive said it was working on a solution for those players, and now the solution has arrived. Today the studio tweeted that players can now access that content without re-buying anything:

https://twitter.com/IOInteractive/status/1362420111248883712

IO Interactive also directs users to this site to begin the import. Though it's touted as a "simple 3-step process," it doesn't all just happen magically. You need sign in to your IOI Account, and then carefully review your selections for the content you're claiming. But after that, you should now be able to properly access the content you already own.

Bungie Commits To Long-Term Development Of Destiny 2, Plans To Tell New Stories In Future IPs

3 years 2 months ago

Bungie, the legendary studio behind the classic Halo trilogy and the popular live-service Destiny franchise, is taking measures to “prepare for the company’s expected and rapid future growth.” In an emailed press release, Bungie has affirmed plans to expand the studio, add key personnel to help create more nuanced IPs, and build upon the already extensive universe of Destiny.

Last month, Bungie made definitive moves to secure a detailed expansion and redesign for its headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. The large-scale operation is slated to be finished in Fall 2022 and will increase the HQ’s 84,000 sq. ft. space to more than 208, 000 sq. ft. To put that into perspective, that’s just below the size of four American football fields combined. This new, enlarged space will house multiple development teams in addition to the experts tasked with working on the Destiny games. Additionally, Bungie will be opening its first international studio in Amsterdam at some point next year.

A ton of additional content is coming alongside the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War’s Season 2 event. Season 1 dropped towards the end of last year and introduced new weapons, new maps, and some returning characters. Earlier this month, the new, free Zombies location Firebase Z placed players in the jungles of Vietnam to dispatch a never-ending undead horde. Season 2 will look to build onto the Dark Aether storyline while providing more nuanced modes to the classic Call of Duty multiplayer formula. Shovel Knight Gets Another Crossover, This Time In For Honor

3 years 2 months ago

Have you been playing Ubisoft's For Honor lately? Maybe you should be! But in case the prospect of the game's intense multiplayer battles isn't enough to pull you in on its own, perhaps a little shovel-related incentive can push you over the edge. That's right: Yacht Club's perennial guest hero, Shovel Knight, is now available (sort of) in For Honor.

As part of the announcement of For Honor's Year 5 content, Ubisoft has announced that Shovel Knight-related cosmetics are available in the game for a limited time. Before we get into the details, take a look at what to expect in the trailer below:

Click here to watch embedded media

While this isn't technically a cameo appearance from the famed knight himself (maybe For Honor can't support Catfish People?), these items definitely add some of Shovel Knight's signature flair to the For Honor battlefield. The official Ubisoft press release breaks down the specifics of what's available starting today:

Final Fantasy XIV Online For Xbox Might Be In The Distant Future

3 years 2 months ago

Final Fantasy XIV Online veterans can surely remember the early days of the game’s disastrous launch and it’s eventual remake  A Realm Reborn  which catapulted the MMORPG into the spotlight and established it as one of the most popular online experiences of all time. With A PlayStation 5 demo slated for the summer and another large-scale content drop in the form of Endwalker, Final Fantasy XIV Online will likely continue to find success. In two different interviews with The Washington Post and VG247, producer Naoki Yoshida commented on the likelihood that players would get to explore Eorzea with their friends on Xbox consoles.

Future Valheim Updates Will Bring More Building And Ship Customization, Possibly Mini-Bosses

3 years 2 months ago

Viking survival game Valheim has been a huge hit on Steam since it launched in early access on February 2. Players have already spent plenty of time exploring, building, and fighting alone or with friends, but have wondered what else will be making its way into the game as the year progresses. A vague roadmap on Steam has been the only frame of reference for future content, but in an interview with PC Gamer, Valheim developer Iron Gate broke down exactly what they have in store for the game going forward.

The first update, Hearth and Home, will primarily focus on house-building by adding new building pieces. Iron Gate tells PC Gamer “It will probably be pretty focused on the food preparation aspect of the game with more recipes and stuff like that."

3 years 2 months ago

The Silent Hill series could be making a major comeback, if a recent report by VideoGames Chronicle (VGC) is to be believed. According to the outlet, a "prominent Japanese developer" is currently handling an upcoming reboot of the series, expected to be revealed this summer, and Konami, the series' publisher, has approached non-Japanese studios about making a new Silent Hill game.

According to VGC's sources, Konami has outsourced one future Silent Hill game to a fellow Japanese company. While there's no specific details about the upcoming project, according to the people VGC spoke to, its currently planned to be a departure for the long-running survival horror series. Is Now A Good Time To Jump Back Into For Honor?

3 years 2 months ago

Rainbow Six: Siege is still going strong six years after its launch, but that’s not the only Ubisoft title still pulling back players in for more. For Honor recently celebrated its fourth birthday, and the company revealed what’s ahead for the game as part of its Year 5 update (Shovel Knight cosmetics!). I haven’t played much of the melee fighter since I reviewed it back in 2017, which made me wonder what it’s like to jump back in. After all, new heroes and maps have been released over the years, along with balance changes and tweaks to the overall meta. The bottom line? It’s still fun … but get used to dying.

Ubisoft was kind enough to loan me three members of the For Honor team to get me back up to speed. Before I joined the session, I went back through the tutorials and reacclimated myself to the combat basics. If you haven’t played For Honor, it’s simultaneously simple and complex. Characters hold their weapons in three different stances (up, left, and right). If your stance matches that of an incoming attack, you’ll block it. If you attack in a direction that an opponent hasn’t picked, surprise, your attack will land. There are combos to master, unblockable moves to learn, special attacks, weapon and armor unlocks, strategies that vary depending on maps and game modes – it’s a lot.

Mortal Kombat Film Debuts With A Bloody, Action-Packed Trailer

3 years 2 months ago

The first trailer for Mortal Kombat has arrived and, frankly, it actually looks pretty damn good. The film is set to premiere April 18 in theaters and as well as HBO Max on the same day.

Click here to watch embedded media

Director Simon McQuoid promised the series’ signature gore, namely Fatalities, would be represented in the film and, so far, it looks like it’s living up to that promise. Arms get exploded into bits, heads are impaled; it’s a lot bloodier than your average movie trailer. The ending clip of a battle between Scorpion and Sub-Zero feels straight out of the games in terms of its delightfully stylish (and brutal) choreography.

Minit Fun Racer Is A Fun Spin-Off That Raises Money For Charity

3 years 2 months ago

Minit was a novel experience from 2018 that tasked players with completing a quirky adventure game in only 60-second intervals. It’s a cool game worth checking out, and its developers JW, Kitty, Jukio, and Dom have returned with a bite-sized follow-up of sorts, Minit Fun Racer. The best part about giving the game a shot? 100% of its proceeds will be donated to charity.

Minit Fun Racer takes Minit’s core idea and translates it into, you guessed it, a racing game. Instead of competing against other racers, though, the goal is to get as far as you can within a very brief time limit. Collecting coins adds precious seconds to that time, but you’ll also have to worry about dodging hazards like cars, boulders, and kids on scooters. Between runs, players can spend their coins to unlock permanent upgrades that help lengthen your runs such as a helmet for taking more hits, faster movement, a coin-attracting magnet, and more. Reaching the end of the course marks the end, but you can start additional laps in your current state for an extra challenge (and to unlock more of the in-game achievements).

The Sinking City Hits PlayStation 5 Tomorrow With Visual Upgrades

3 years 2 months ago

Click here to watch embedded media

The Sinking City, a Lovecraftian adventure game from developer Frogwares, is making the leap to PlayStation 5 on Friday, February 19, and will be downloadable at exactly midnight in your region. Along with the expected reduction in load times, this next-gen version runs at 60 frames-per-second with a 4K resolution. Frogwares is also implementing other graphical upgrades, along with enhanced DualSense controller functionality. The additional quests that were tied to the Merciful Madness downloadable content are sewn into the core game.

If you already purchased The Sinking City on PlayStation 4, you will not get the next-gen features as a free upgrade or be able to pay a lower price to get them. Due to a publishing dispute between Frogwares and Nacon, the publisher of the PlayStation 4 version, the two versions are distinct.

It Looks Like Fall Guys Is Coming To Xbox Platforms Too

3 years 2 months ago

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is heading to Xbox One and Xbox Series X. The announcement comes less than 24 hours after Nintendo announced Fall Guys is coming to Switch, so it would seem that the cries to bring Fall Guys to more platforms have been answered in short order.

So when can Xbox owners expect to jump into Fall Guys? Sometime this summer, same as the Switch port. Maybe it’ll even be on the same day. That would be nice, I guess. In the meantime, if you’ve been looking in from the outside wondering what the heck this weird jumping jelly bean game is, here’s a primer.

Knockout City Breakdown And Hands-On Impressions

3 years 2 months ago

EA pulled back the curtain today on Knockout City during Wednesday's Nintendo Direct, and the new competitive multiplayer game centers on the noblest of all sports: dodgeball. The game moves the beloved childhood sport from black tops and school gyms to futuristic rooftops, construction sites, and bustling city streets. Even after watching the debut trailer you probably have a few questions: What the heck is this thing, why should I care, and how much is it going to cost me? I recently spent several hours playing the game and have returned with answers to all of those questions.

Splatoon 3 Announced, Launches In 2022

3 years 2 months ago

Nintendo closed today's Direct presentation with the reveal of Splatoon 3. The third game in the popular multiplayer series will make its splash some time in 2022.

The game debuted in an uncharacteristically mute trailer. Instead of immediately flooring fans with a catchy, upbeat soundtrack and some "fresh" attitude, we see the inkling girl alone in a desert wasteland in what appears to be the new character creator. After the player chooses their inkling's appearance (as well as her fishy sidekick's), she picks up her bow-like weapon and takes a side-scrolling romp across the ruined landscape. According to the game's press release, players will be leaving Inkopolis behind to head to a new region known as the Splatlands. At the center of this region is Splatsville (also know as "City of Chaos"), a bustling city that serves as the new home of your ink-stained battles.

Danganronpa And Zero Escape Creators Team Up For World's End Club, Out This May

3 years 2 months ago

Today's Nintendo Direct revealed a new adventure game called The World's End Club. It comes from the minds of Kotaro Uchikoshi and Kazutaka Kodaka, both known for some of the more twisted and entertaining narrative-focused adventures with the Zero Escape and Danganronpa series, respectively. And they aren't abandoning their talents of making you fight for survival with World's End Club.

However, for this adventure, you're trapped in an underwater theme park and forced to play in "The Game of Fate." Getting out of the theme park may seem like your biggest worry, but if you do escape and get a glimpse of Japan, you'll have a bigger mystery brewing as everyone has vanished. This takes you on a trip across the country with a group of 12 eclectic characters. The game blends side-scrolling action with its intense narrative, forcing you to go solo and at times team up with your group members to fight baddies and figure out how to survive harrowing situations.

World's End Club hits Switch on May 28.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville Invades Switch Next Month

3 years 2 months ago

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville

The Plants vs. Zombies franchise has undergone several transformations over the years, going from an approachable tower-defense franchise to the series of third-person (third-plant?) hero shooters we've seen over the last several years. The most recent entry, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, took the PvE and PvP elements of the Garden Warfare games and expanded them out in myriad ways. Now, that 2019 release is coming to Switch via the Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition on March 19.

One of my chief complaints of Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville was in its overly complicated economy. This Complete Edition seems to minimize the impact of the competing currencies of the base game, delivering access to all 23 fully customizable characters and all cosmetic items ever released through offline or online in-game unlockables with no premium store or currency required.

You can zap zombies or pick off plants either solo offline, up to four-player cooperative play, or in 8v8 multiplayer matches. The Switch version also gives players the opportunity to take advantage of the console's motion controls if they so choose and will be the first game that uses Electronic Arts' Frostbite engine on Switch.

Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Sequel Information Coming Later This Year

3 years 2 months ago

During the Nintendo Direct today, Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma had some news to relay. Sadly, that information is that there is nothing new to share on the Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild sequel today.

With an apology, Aonuma says that development is proceeding smoothly and that more information will be available to share later this year.

Unfortunately, such development delays are expected in today's COVID-19 world. Development pipelines and processes across the entire industry have been ravaged not only by the deadly disease and work-from-home shake-ups, but by having procedures turned on their heads as they adapt to new conditions.

Star Wars: Hunters Announced For Switch

3 years 2 months ago

As part of today’s Nintendo Direct, we learned about a new competitive and free-to-play online shooter coming to Switch. Set between Star Wars Episodes VI and VII, the very brief trailer shows off holograms of various combatants, from red lightsaber wielding characters in the style of Sith, to a variety of Stormtroopers, and even a towering Wookiee.

The game is being developed by Zynga, a company most known for its social and mobile games, and which generally focuses on the free-to-play gaming space.

Unfortunately, today’s Nintendo Direct didn’t offer any additional detail about what to expect from this new competitive experience, so we’ll have to wait a while longer to get concrete details on gameplay.

Expansion Pass Announced For Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity

3 years 2 months ago

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity told a story about battles that preceded the fall of Hyrule in the Breath of the Wild storyline. While we didn't love everything about the game when it launched last year, it was unique to go back in time and see what was happening around Hyrule in the lead up to the era of Calamity Ganon.

It seems our adventures in that pre-apocalyptic version of Hyrule are far from over, as Nintendo has announced an Expansion Pass for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Those who pick up the Expansion Pass are treated to two full waves of content, plus two bonus items, over the course of 2021.

The first wave is available in June and promises to expand the roster in addition to new weapon types, new challenges in the Royal Ancient Lab, and newly added challenging enemies. The second wave, available in November, adds new character vignettes, new stages, new additions to the roster, and new battle skills for existing characters. Anyone who purchases the Expansion Pass for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity also receives a new weapon and costume for Link beginning on May 28.

The Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass costs $20.

Special Edition Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Joy-Cons Revealed For Nintendo Switch

3 years 2 months ago

During February's Nintendo Direct, the Big N shared our first look at The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for the Switch. To sweeten the deal, the company also shared our first look at a special edition set of new Joy-Cons fashioned after the iconic Zelda entry.

The newest style of Joy-Cons represents the famous Hyrulean sword and shield with two shades of blue, the instantly recognizable symbols emblazed on the bottom of each controller and etched with a gold overlay. With a cerulean blue and a rich sky blue, the latest Joy-Cons are a stunning way to celebrate The Legend of Zelda series.

Pictured above, you can see the details on the new Joy-Cons up close and personal. The newest peripherals are a perfect addition to the Switch's already impressive lineup. Still, I'm little sad not to see Wind Waker before Skyward, but we all win with Zelda, regardless.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has Mario-Themed Items On The Way

3 years 2 months ago

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting Mario themed items in celebration of the mascot's 35th anniversary (which was last year, but we’re not complaining). In the next couple of weeks, players can dress their villagers up like Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Wario and unlock new items to turn their tropical island into their own personal Mushroom Kingdom.

The update comes with several Mario themed furniture and decorative items, including question blocks, flag poles, thwomps, coins, and invincibility stars. Players can also place two warp pipes at different points on their island to instantly teleport between the two; it seems like a much faster, more fun way to get around than climbing a ladder and I expect those to be a huge hit regardless if the player likes Mario or not.

To access the items, players must first download a free update that goes live on February 25. Then, on March 1, players will be able to purchase the Mario items in the Nook Shopping terminal.

The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Announced For Nintendo Switch

3 years 2 months ago

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is coming to the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo announced earlier today during its most recent Nintendo Direct livestream. The game will be available on July 16.

One interesting note about the rerelease is that Skyward Sword's control scheme has been remade for the Nintendo Switch. Originally, the game used the motion-based Wii Remote and Nunchuk to imitate Link's sword and shield, respectively. Now, as detailed by series producer Eiji Aonuma, the Switch's Joy-Cons will operate in a similar manner. According to Aonuma, on Switch, the controls should be smoother and "more intuitive" than they were on the original Wii release. Button controls were also announced for the game, meaning that for the first time, Skyward Sword can also be played in handheld mode or while docked. To celebrate the occasion, Nintendo also announced a pair of custom Joy-Cons, themed after Skyward Sword. The Joy-Cons are expected to release alongside the HD version of the game on July 16.

Project Triangle Strategy Announced For Nintendo Switch

3 years 2 months ago

During the most recent Nintendo Direct showcase, the company showed off a new tactical RPG for fans to dive into with Project Triangle Strategy. While the game itself won't arrive until next year, a demo is available now (though the link is broken at the time this article was written).

Project Triangle Strategy is the latest tactical RPG from Square Enix that offers a play experience very much like Octopath Traveler, which makes sense given that this game is meant to be the spiritual successor. The game itself promises to offer a thrilling story filled with a narrative haunted by choice and consequence. Players will need to strategically approach every battle as if it is their last in order to stay on top.

Monster Hunter Rise Gets New Trailer Showcasing Monsters And A Pro Controller

3 years 2 months ago

During today's Nintendo Direct, we got a peek at more Monster Hunter Rise in a new trailer. The game isn't too far away now, with release expected on March 26. On the same day, you'll be able to pick up a highly stylized Monster Hunter Rise-themed Pro Controller, too. If you're like me, you definitely want a pro controller to play Monster Hunter Rise, as the controls lend themselves to a traditional controller over the Joy-Cons. That said, I've heard people love playing on Joy-Cons too, so try them both and see!

Now, moving on to the trailer, we have a lot to look at. We're defending Kamura Village against some titanic threats, and there are a bunch of monsters to check out. We'll be harvesting them for their parts soon enough. We get a look at the big bad spider Rakna-Kadaki, a web-spinner that tries to pin players down before destroying them. Oh, and for some reason this grotesque arachnid can breathe fire too. Yikes! We see the giant Basarios and its flame belly, and the rolling rock Volvidon. That's one armadillo-like critter that you don't want to mess with!

We then get a look at a monster rising out of the swamps with Almudron. Looks like it's sure to be a slippery encounter, with lots of mud to manage. Players are also seen zipping around the world on their Wirebugs, showcasing some of the heavy mobility and traversal options that are key to Monster Hunter Rise.

3 years 2 months ago

Neon White is a fast-paced first-person action game that is all about kicking butt and taking names when it comes to obliterating demon scum in Heaven. Players will be able to take on the role of White, an assassin from Hell, on the go when the game comes to Nintendo Switch later this year

During the most recent Nintendo Direct, the company shared our first look at the platformer on the handheld console. While we didn't get a release date other than a window of winter 2021, Neon White looks to be the perfect fit for the Switch and just in time for the holiday season.

The art style, as seen below, is absolutely gorgeous. Fighting demons, exploring new worlds, taking the fight against the hordes of Hell on the go with the Switch? What's not to love? Check out the gameplay reveal above!

Play as White, an assassin that was chosen by the powers of Hell to compete with other demon slayers for a chance at a permanent location change from Hell to Heaven. Sounds easy for an assassin, right? Well, it should be but it looks like White may see some familiar faces from his past. Can they kill those that may have been friends in the past?

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Jumps To Switch This Summer

3 years 2 months ago

2020's multiplayer sensation Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is heading to Switch this summer! The news was announced during today's Nintendo Direct. That's good news given the hit title has, for now, only been available for PlayStation 4 and PC.

The port doesn't seem to come with anything new, but fans can now enjoy Fall Guy's zany blend of game show-inspired presentation and battle royale-style elimination on the go, which is really its own reward. One would assume it will at least have feature parity with the other versions in terms of cosmetics, and hopefully we'll get some Nintendo-themed outfits (can I get a Waluigi hat, please?).

Series protagonist Travis Touchdown is tasked with getting to the top of the tournament in an effort to save Earth. Xenoblade's Pyra And Mythra Join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate As Newest Fighter

3 years 2 months ago

Xenoblade's Pyra and Mythra are joining the fight in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While they are the same person, their fighting styles are quite different. The two characters (though the pair still counts as one) are from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and are the latest fighters to shake up the fighting game to its core.

With Pyra and Mythra counting as one fighter addition, their inclusion makes them the fourth DLC fighter introduced to the Switch exclusive's Season 2. Previous inclusions gave us Minecraft's Steve and Alex, Arms' Min Min, and Final Fantasy's Sephiroth in all of his broody glory

This Monster Hunter World Mod Replaces Palicos With Animal Crossing Villagers

3 years 2 months ago

Monster Hunter: World is cool and all, but what could make it even cooler? Animal Crossing villagers as Palicos! This Monster Hunter: World mod does just that...sort of. While the villager part is still true, it only applies to the top half of their bodies, resulting in something that is equal parts cute and terrifying.

The mod itself is for the PC version of the game (given that mod support on consoles is still incredibly limited) and retextures the various Palico heads to look like iconic villager cats instead. Since we still don't have Raymond in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, this was the closest thing I could get outside of replaying older games in the franchise.

The mod itself replaces the Palico helms by default. For those wanting a particular villager to bring into the world of Monster Hunter, here's what you need to know about which code belongs to which face:

PlayStation 5 Is Quickly Assembling A Nice Selection Of Exclusives

3 years 2 months ago

From Bloodborne and God of War to Horizon Zero Dawn and Marvel's Spider-Man, Sony's first-party support for PlayStation 4 ranks among the best in any console generation. In each year of PlayStation 4's lifecycle, we were treated to a number of amazing exclusive games. Even in a year upended by the pandemic and the proverbial baton being handed off from one console generation to the next, Sony made a hell of a case to purchase a PlayStation 4 in 2020 with the exclusive releases of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us Part II.

Baldur's Gate 3 Adds Druid Class, Loaded Dice Option, Better Cinematics, And Multiplayer

3 years 2 months ago

Earlier this month, Larian Studios teased the "biggest patch yet" for Baldur's Gate 3 during its Early Access period and now, we know exactly what that big update entails. Not only is Baldur's Gate 3 finally adding the highly requested Druid class, but also massive changes to the game's cinematics, dice options, and more! Here's what you can expect from the latest update and how you can still play an older version if you want to continue on with your already-created characters.

First things first: Druids. When the game first launched in Early Access, it was missing quite a few notable classes including Barbarian, Druid, and Monk. One of those missing classes is arriving soon, bringing with it over 30 new spells and abilities, including the loved Wild Shape.

The addition of the new class also means new ways to approach the world of Baldur's Gate 3 and the ability to talk to animals will help change some outcomes in a big way. A spokesperson for Larian told Game Informer prior to the event that instances such as with the OwlBear can now end up much differently than that first playthrough thanks to the inclusion of this new class. And Druid's Grove? That will be drastically different as well.

Watch The 2021 Nintendo Direct With Game Informer

When you awoke today, did everything seem a little happier? Was the sun shining a bit brighter? If the answer is yes, it's probably because, like me, you've been waiting for a proper Nintendo Direct since September of 2019 and your wish has finally been fulfilled.

The house of Mario and Link announced yesterday that we'll be getting a 50-minute look at the publisher's lineup for the first half of 2021, including updates to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and other existing properties.

But what surprises does Nintendo have in store? This Sunday marks the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, and if the Italian plumber's months-long birthday party was any indication, it would only make sense to see some sort of celebration of one of the greatest adventure franchises of all time. Pokémon is also coming up on its 25th anniversary, but if I were a betting man, I'd say we won't hear much from Pikachu and company until Pokémon Day on February 27 (also Brian Shea's birthday, which I would argue is more important).
