Play God Of War On PC Starting Today If You Have PlayStation Now

2 years 9 months ago

When Santa Monica Studios' God of War came out on the PlayStation 4 back in 2018, it was instantly a massive hit. The community adored the storyline, seeing Kratos in his role as a father, and learning more about this world from a different perspective. For those hoping to take to God of War on PC, you technically can now — starting today — as long as you have PlayStation Now.

2018's God of War took what David Jaffe created back in 2005 into different waters, waters that felt comfortable and enticing at the same time. The story of Kratos and his son Atreus was one that felt meaningful every step of the way, and the combat challenges all felt unique and purposeful leading up to the game's conclusion. With the sequel in the works, a sequel that has been pushed back a little bit to ensure its quality reaches that of the vision, many eyes are on where God of War will go next. To pass the time, revisit the revitalized entry once more in a different format; on PC.

What is PlayStation Now?

For those that may not have PlayStation Now and may be a little confused about what it even is, it's a subscription service that Sony has offered for a while, one that allows players to play their favorite games on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and on PC. The library continues to grow, with the latest addition being none other than Santa Monica's latest treasure.

New Mass Effect Legendary Edition Mod Gives The People What They Want, "Juicy" Sexy Hanar

2 years 9 months ago

Earlier today, I covered a pretty heavy topic dealing with abuse and misconduct. That heaviness, especially when coming from a place of experience in a similar vein, can make your heart hurt. So, because of that, I ask that you bear with me as I write something so delightfully stupid to make myself smile and hopefully, you smile too. So. Let's talk sexy hanar in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, shall we?

There are a lot of mods for Mass Effect Legendary Edition so far, more so recently since BioWare made it easier to access the required code. Last week, we covered a nifty one that restored a longstanding glitch concerning the one and only Conrad Verner. This week, we're talking "juicy" hanar. It's called balance, sweetie.

Created by modder u/Grixdale, the Sexier Hanar mod now comes with "100% more nips." It's a jesting mod, so don't take it too seriously, but too hilariously weird to not write up. The mod creator made this in joking retaliation to those that complained about a previous N7 Body-Con Dress mod that eliminated panty lines and covered nipples, so now they put all those hidden nipples on the hanar instead because life is chaos and we're all going to die anyway.

New Report Reveals Many Ubisoft Employees Unhappy With How Leadership Handled 'Me Too'

2 years 9 months ago

Summer 2020 marked a massive shift in the gaming industry, particularly those who have suffered sexual misconduct and abusive leadership when the #MeToo movement hit Ubisoft hard. After numerous reports surfaced regarding abuse, misconduct, and power corruption leading to several high-profile execs being fired, the investigations into the underbelly of this studio's culture continue. Investigations revealed that over 25 percent of employees experienced, or witnessed, workplace misconduct. While several notable executive roles became vacant due to these investigations, including Ashraf Ismail, Tommy Francois, and Maxime Beland, a new report shares that many employees feel unheard after numerous managers that were reported for misconduct remain in their leadership positions.

Earlier today, we covered a report from Bloomberg about Assassin's Creed Infinity, a codename for the upcoming entry in the franchise that will be a live-service game. Shortly after, Ubisoft itself confirmed the report -- at least the part about the new game being in development and the vision for the series undergoing another shift. Another part of the report, however, includes the continued cycle of the work culture at Ubisoft.

Next Assassin's Creed Game, Infinity, Will Reportedly Be A Live Service Game (UPDATE)

2 years 9 months ago

Assassin's Creed has grown a lot through the years. Some missteps, some triumphs. The franchise hit a new high with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, with many fans loving the more immersive RPG aspects, dialogue options, and choice of protagonist. Valhalla continued on that trend, offering an even bigger experience. While some in the community have mentioned that they worry certain games are getting a little too big, bordering on overwhelming, it looks like Ubisoft is looking to go even bigger. More than that, a new report suggests that the next Assassin's Creed game, called Assassin's Creed Infinity, will be a live service entry.

[Update] 7/7/21 at 8:14 a.m. Central: Ubisoft has confirmed Assassin's Creed Infinity, you can learn more with the full blog post here

RoboCop: Rogue City Announced, Launches In 2023

2 years 9 months ago

RoboCop is making a comeback in video games with a brand-new title, RoboCop: Rogue City. The newly-announced action game is slated to launch in 2023 for yet-to-be-specified consoles and PC.

Rogue City sees good-cop-turned-cyborg Alex Murphy take on bad guys in an original story that draws on elements from the three classic films. Unfortunately, since the game’s release is pretty far out, there’s no insight on what gameplay entails. Development of Rogue City is being handled by Teyon, who previously shipped Terminator: Resistance in January 2020 (it also released an enhanced PS5 version this past April). Nacon and MGM will handle publisher duties.

“We're delighted to be teaming up with MGM to offer a new vision of a popular franchise that was created over 30 years ago. This game is the perfect fit to pursue our aim of offering different gaming experiences to the widest possible audience," said Nacon CEO Alain Falc in a press release.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Release Date Is Still A Long Way Off, According To Reports

2 years 9 months ago

Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks are nothing new, but a recent report from an industry insider has been making its rounds for more than just curiosity's sake. Numerous names are backing up a recent report about when we'll get a Grand Theft Auto 6 release date, including our own that are backing up those claims.

Tom Henderson is a notable leaker that has a long track record of accurate early access information. In a recent video, he talked about Grand Theft Auto 6 and more about its setting. According to Henderson, the current state of Grand Theft Auto 6 centers around a modern setting that will prominently feature Vice City. He also added that the map would continue to evolve post-launch, much like what is currently being seen within the realm of Battle Royale. The video went viral after Bloomberg's Jason Schreier backed up Henderson's claims, saying that "everything Tom Henderson has said about the game matches up with what I've heard."

Elden Ring Lore Dives Deeper Into The Fall Of The Golden Order

2 years 9 months ago

Last month, Bandai Namco updated its site with new lore centering around Elden Ring. Now that we have a full official look, thanks to E3 2021, fans are excited to dive into the new IP from the studio that gave us gems like Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. For those interested in learning more about the "Tarnished of the Lands Between," you're in the right place.

Though some are circulating this around the internet as a new addition, it was actually added last month but went largely unnoticed. That doesn't make the lore drop any less interesting, however, but given how many people have reached out to me about this, I figured why not share at large for those that may have missed it.

The Golden Order has been broken, and the rise and fall have been anything but simple. Bandai already dropped a ton of info on us about key features regarding the open-world adventure, including how travel works through the Lands Between and what being Tarnished really means. The Tarnished of the Lands Between addition, for those curious, is as follows:

The Golden Order has been shattered. Throughout the Lands Between, Demigods holding shards of the Elden Ring squabble and make war over the ruins of a perfect realm, now abandoned by the golden guidance of the Greater Will.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Sequel Will Play A Lot Like Intermission

2 years 9 months ago

Yuffie made her grand appearance in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade’s Episode Intermission. Despite being a brief chapter in the Midgar arc, new exploratory mechanics and combat abilities set Intermission apart from the vanilla version of Remake that launched last year. Naoki Hamaguchi and Motomu Toriyama, two of Remake’s directors, stated that the next mainline installment in Final Fantasy VII would draw from what made Intermission so great.

In an interview with The Washington Post, both directors talked about how Intermission’s cast of characters and flashy combos will inform the future of Remake. For instance, the synergized attacks that Yuffie and Sonon perform together will definitely be making a return, “Additionally, with Intermission, there’s another element introduced: combo movies where Yuffie and Sonon team up…which makes for a different feel in battle strategy,” Hamaguchi said. “I would like to leverage these, including other elements we tried out in Intermission, in our next story.”

Aiden Pearce Returns Today In Watch Dogs: Legion's Bloodline Expansion

2 years 9 months ago

Click here to watch embedded media

Ubisoft today released Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline, a standalone expansion that puts players in control of Aiden Pearce, the protagonist from the first Watch Dogs game. The expansion is a prequel story to the conflict between DedSec and Zero-Day within the core Watch Dogs: Legion game. If you purchased the Gold or Ultimate editions of the game, you can download the expansion now; otherwise you can purchase it on its own for $14.99 or in the season pass for $29.99. Even though it is a standalone experience, you will need the base Watch Dogs: Legion game to play it.

Bloodline sees Aiden trying to secure a prized technology from a Broca Tech laboratory, but he isn't the only one who eyes it. Wrench, one of the protagonists from Watch Dogs 2, also wants it and actually beats Aiden to the chase and gets his hands on it first. Aiden finds himself in a jam and calls upon his nephew Jackson to try to help him track down Wrench as they keep Broca Tech at bay. In a twist, Wrench is also a playable character, so you'll see the story's events unfold through both of these fixers.

Also included will be a lineup of indie titles that are on their way, as well as more news on upcoming third-party adventures, as well.

Sony was also careful to temper expectations, letting interested fans know that no, there will be no new God of War 2 information revealed and that there will be nothing to share on Horizon Forbidden West. The company also confirmed that PSVR 2, this generation's iteration of VR on the PlayStation platform, will not be present either, though Sony did add that it will have "more updates soon" regarding the aforementioned properties throughout the Summer.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition Fans Can Now Cuddle Tali With Officially-Licensed Body Pillow

2 years 9 months ago

You've heard of the Garrus Vakarian body pillow; now it's time for Tali's time to shine. Just like BioWare has done in the past, they are giving fans of the space series a chance to canoodle with everyone's favorite Quarian. Induction Port not included.

There are a million different reasons to love the Mass Effect trilogy, especially with the Legendary Edition now available, but one of them was the fact that the game offered friendships and relationships that were intimately crafted to bring the RPG aspect of the game to even more immersive heights. One of those romances is Tali Zorah. She can be your best friend, almost like a little sister, or your lovah! While we can't have the real Tali quite yet (we can dream), but at least there are body pillows thanks to the BioWare Gear Store.

For those that may be unfamiliar, Quarians are a race of alien beings that are forced to wear bodysuits that are completely enclosed due to weakened immune systems following a war with the Geth. The Geth are a race of AI built by the Quarians, a race that was slaughtered when they started to show signs of true intelligence. The war chased the Quarians from their homeworld, forever changing their daily lives and forcing them to hide their true faces behind a helmet.

Bluepoint Games Looks To Be Debunking PlayStation Acquisition Rumors As Leak Suggests Reveal Is Imminent

2 years 9 months ago

Recently, Sony confirmed that it was adding Housemarque, the studio that gave us Returnal, to its growing network of PlayStation-owned studios, but that confirmation came with a little more than intended. PlayStation Studios Japan accidentally used the wrong image in its now-deleted tweet about the Housemarque. The image used was the same one that welcomed House into the mix, but instead, the words on said image read Bluepoint Games.  This get would also be a good one to celebrate, given Bluepoint's talent at crafting and recrafting excellent experiences, especially in the realm of remakes such as Shadow of the Colossus. Still, Bluepoint itself is saying "not so fast" - even with a recent leak that suggests an acquisition announcement is imminent.

The team over at Bluepoint Games has done a few things to combat the acquisition rumors that followed after the image went viral. The most immediate change can be seen in Bluepoint's Twitter profile that now reads: "Bluepoint Games is a fully independent self-funded studio. We are always looking for talented engineers, artists, and designers to join the team."

New Nintendo Switch Update Makes 'Memory Full' Tweak To Make Patches Easier To Download

2 years 9 months ago

Before the latest Nintendo Switch update, if a player's memory was full on the hybrid system, a new patch would not work. Now with version 12.1.0, Nintendo has made a change to how downloads register with a new prompt about the state of the hardware's memory and microSD status regarding older versions of games.

The latest update targets game updates as its main concern outside of the usual small enhancements, allowing for a prompt to urge users to delete previous versions of games before installing a newer, more improved version. This will allow for updates to download and work as intended, making the user experience much more fluid and operational.

Outside of the "general system stability improvements" that are always included with Nintendo's patch notes, the rest of the update can be seen below:

New Mass Effect Legendary Edition Mod Fixes Notorious Conrad Verner Glitch

2 years 9 months ago

From the original trilogy to the remaster, there has been a longstanding Conrad Verner glitch that has carried over into the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a glitch that messes with the potential outcomes for Super Fan Conrad Verner. The glitch in question messes with how the game remembers certain decisions made regarding Verner, which can completely eliminate him from future games.

Players first meet the Super Fan back in Mass Effect one where Verner tracks down Shepard several times to ask for an autograph only to later just fawn all over them. If players play their cards right, they can meet up with Mr. Verner in Mass Effect 2, and then later in Mass Effect 3, but one glitch in Mass Effect 2 tampered with how the game registered certain decisions. Regardless if players went the Paragon route or not, Mass Effect 2 always seemed to register that players instead aggressively rebuffed Verner's attentions, instead choosing to stare him down the barrel of a gun to intimidate him into backing off pretending to be an N7 recruit.

Epic GoldenEye 007 Recreation Using Far Cry 5 Map Editor Officially Taken Down By Ubisoft And MGM [UPDATE]

2 years 9 months ago

At the beginning of June, we covered a really epic fan recreation of the N64 classic GoldenEye 007 using Far Cry 5's Map Editor. With the news that the Map Editor would not be present in Far Cry 6 and the games that will come after it, this recreation felt even more impressive in how it showed off the unlimited creativity this feature lends to players. It was an extensive feat that faithfully paid homage to the game that ruined our friendships back then, but Ubisoft stepped in and struck it down due to copyright infringement.

[Update] July 6, 2021, 6:09 a.m Central: The levels have returned to Far Cry 5's Arcade Mode on PC under the term Golden Cry from u/Grasluoo. Original story as follows:

This Mass Effect Cosplayer Brings Her Miranda And EDI Cosplays To Life In The Best Way

2 years 9 months ago

With so many veterans and newcomers alike enjoying Mass Effect Legendary Edition, we thought we'd take a break from the guides and the character deep dives to just appreciate the community for a moment. Since it's been a hot minute since I've shared a cosplay, I thought this would be my perfect excuse to talk about two things I love so much: Mass Effect and how freaking talented cosplayers are. So, without further ado, let's look at one Mass Effect cosplayer's incredible takes with her Miranda and EDI cosplays.

From Cerberus to certified badass, EDI has never looked better than in this amazing cosplay take For those that may not be familiar with this very sassy AI, 'she' was first introduced in Mass Effect 1 as a mission about a rogue VI, and then later in Mass Effect 2 as a ship system implemented by Cerberus. In Mass Effect 3, she was given a more human form, one that - like Samantha Traynor and Joker - many of us fell for. The cosplayer in question goes by Star Nacho and her love for the character is very evident in her careful cosplay of her:

Razer Anzu Smart Glasses Review | Smart Enough For The Price Tag?

2 years 9 months ago

I’ve never been into the “smart glasses” thing. I’ve seen them, and been slightly intrigued by them, but I never saw them as something to be super excited about. Then I sat down and reviewed the Razer Anzu and now I understand their incredible potential. With Bluetooth capability, microphone, and anti-blue light protection, Razer’s newest foray into the far reaches of the gaming-verse is not too shabby. Surprisingly, no RGBs, either.

How Do They Look and Feel?

The term “smart glasses” pertains to technological capabilities. Smart glasses allow users to connect to outside hardware, respond to certain commands, and have added app functionality. This tech is nothing new, companies like Amazon and Bose have released their own versions, so how does Razer compare? Pretty nicely, as long as you manage expectations.

The Razer Anzu glasses look like any normal pair of thick-framed glasses. You can choose from a round frame version and a more traditional rectangle design, both of which come in a variety of different sizes to ensure the right fit. The Anzu looks similar to the Amazon Frames, where the chunky arms are used to house the smart tech.

One pair of Anzus comes with two different charging ports, one for each arm of the frame. They’re a little bigger than I expected, but surprisingly not as weighty as they look, which is good for long-term comfort.

OlliOlli World Feels Like A Fresh Start For The Series

2 years 9 months ago

There tends to be two schools of gameplay when it comes to skateboarding games: the arcadieness of the Tony Hawk series and its ilk, and the more technically-focused simulations of the Skate series and the games it inspired. While I'm sure there are plenty of people who enjoy both, I tend to see it as one or the other; you either prefer the over-the-topness of impossible combos in Tony Hawk, or challenging yourself with next-to-real lines in Skate. I much prefer the former.

For two games now, the OlliOlli series has fallen more in-line with the latter, being a 2D take on the simulation skateboarding genre. And for what it's worth, this has worked outstandingly for developer Roll7, which not only received acclaim for its action sports games, but even won a prestigious BAFTA in 2015 for the first OlliOlli.

But if you're like me, playing OlliOlli and its sequel can feel inscrutable. Even in their earliest sections, aside from teaching you the basics of controls, the games often feel as though they are just cutting you loose to figure it out yourself. If that's a struggle, too bad, so sad. You will be punished for your mistakes.

Roll7 isn't blind to this fact.

Nexus Mods' Decision About Collections Met With Instant Community Backlash Over Rights Of Removal

2 years 9 months ago

Nexus Mods is one of the largest modding sites in the world and it's one that we share quite a bit with our weekly Mod Corner column. The new Collections system is a way for members to garner a list of mods that they'd like, but there's a pretty heavy caveat that comes along that. The new system, which is set to go live in August, makes it impossible for mod creators to delete the files they've chosen to share if those mods are curated as part of a Collection. To say that the community backlash was immediate would be a massive understatement.

In a substantial blog post over on the site, it was revealed that this new feature - a feature that has been in the works since 2019 - will be ready to fully deploy next month. The Collections "means that mod files are no longer deleted, but rather archive - which makes them inaccessible unless directly requested e.g. via the API," reads the post. "We understand that not everyone in the mod author community shares our convictions and our vision, and that is why we are granting a one-month grace period in which mod authors can request to have all their files deleted for good."

New Dragon Age 4 Concept Art Puts The Antivan Crows Front And Center

2 years 9 months ago

In light of the news that there will be nothing shown of Dragon Age 4 or the new Mass Effect at this year's EA Play, executive producer Christian Dailey decided to share a little treat to help tide fans over. While not a trailer, the Dragon Age 4 concept art does put the Crows back in the spotlight.

The Crows hail from the beautiful mother country of Antiva (I hope you read that in Zevran's voice, if not - I am disappointed and I just wanted you to know that). We first learned about them in Dragon Age Origins with our lovable assassin-turned-companion Zevran Arainai. Zevran was a Crow before he failed to take out his mark: the Warden, us. He eventually can become a close friend, even a lover, and a staple that reemerged in Dragon Age II with a small side quest, and then again in Inquisition as a War Table mission. Previous concept art shown has many, including myself, convinced that he'll be back once more, and not as text, in Dragon Age 4, but before we go into that, take a look at the latest concept art shared below:

Some Destiny 2 Season 15 Weapon Changes Are Arriving Early, Bungie Is Nerfing Anarchy

2 years 9 months ago

Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer is coming to a close and with Osiris acting more than a little suspish and Lakshmi being her annoying self, where season 15 will take us is anyone's guess. While we await to uncover who Savathun is impersonating within the City, weapon feature lead Chris Proctor did provide some insight into what sort of changes are on the horizon for game mechanics, weapon shifts, and a potential Exotic overhaul, including which season 15 changes are arriving early.

Let's just rip the bandaid off, shall we? Now I know, you're going to make fun of me, but I only recently just scooped up Anarchy at the end of Season of the Chosen. I have the worst drop rate in history. 100 Deep Stone Crypt clears, still no Eyes of Tomorrow. A ton of Vault clears, still no Mytho. So it was no surprise that I ended up having to just cash in Raid tokens to buy Anarchy - one of the most OP weapons in Destiny 2 - shortly before the studio decided to nerf it. I understand, I'm just sad.

PSP Store Closes Next Week, But Sony Will Still Sell PSP Games Through PS3 And PS Vita

2 years 9 months ago

Earlier this year, Sony confirmed that it was closing a few of its older processes down, including the PSP Store. At the time, there was no plan in place to allow for games specifically designed to be played on the PSP to be preserved, which sparked an industry-wide (and community-wide) conversation about the preservation cycles in gaming. It looks like now, at least, the question of what will happen to those PSP-specific titles has been answered because Sony has confirmed that PlayStation players will still be able to purchase and play PSP content on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.

Sony has updated its Important Notice portion of the PlayStation site to discuss what has been discontinued and removed. With the PlayStation Store no longer accessible starting on July 6, players from that point on will not be able to perform searches or make any sort of purchase through their PSP systems.

Toys Give First Look At Spider-Man's New Suits In No Way Home

2 years 10 months ago

Spider-Man: No Way Home doesn't open in theaters until December 17, but Marvel is giving us an early look at Spider-Man's new suits and some of the other characters that will be in the movie. The toys, which range from action figures to LEGO, show off what appears to be three different suits for Spider-Man, as well as new looks at MJ, Ned, J. Jonah Jameson, and a hero and villain – I won't name them here, but you can see who they are in the image galleries below.

On that note, this line-up of figures DOES NOT reveal a couple of heroes that fans believe will be in the film, even though an actor who has played one of these characters in the past has said he's not reprising his role.

The new Spider-Man suits are variations of the looks he's had in the last few movies, each appearing to have some kind of special gadget functionality. The big addition to his wardrobe is a proper black getup, which Marvel lists as officially as the Black & Gold Suit. One of the other suits shows off an interesting addition that ties in with another character.

Netflix's The Witcher Season 2 Director On Henry Cavill, "He Could Be A Politician!"

2 years 10 months ago

Actor Henry Cavill comes off as adorkably sweet, but what is it like working with him? According to Netflix's The Witcher season 2 director Stephen Surjik, it's as amazing as you might think. The director recently sat down with Combat Radio to talk about set life and what comes with it, but what he said about Cavill had us going, "awww."

In the interview, which you can see in the video below (courtesy of r/NetflixWitcher), Surjik spoke on how thoughtful Cavill is on set. "If someone is new there, [he] will spot them and say 'who's that?' and go introduce himself and finds out what they are doing." He said he's so immersed in those around, and charming to boot, that he added, "He's amazing, he could be a politician."

Surjik also talked about how Cavill is one of the most reliable actors in the space, "When he shows up on set, he shows up on time. He shows up in character, with his costume, on his mark and he knows all of his lines. He knows the background to what he is doing, he knows what came before and what comes after."

New Legend Of Zelda: Skyward HD Trailer Shows Off Skippable Cutscenes, Autosave, And New QoL Changes

2 years 10 months ago

A new The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD trailer is here and shows off some of the improvements made to the fan-favorite. From the option to get some helpful assistance from Fi to the ability to skip over the cutscenes you may have seen one too many times, here is a brief overview of what The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD trailer had to reveal.

In the below video, Nintendo shows off the new ability to skip over cutscenes. While this option might not be for everyone, it is a feature that has been asked for numerous times in the past. So, for those that are interested in being able to fast-track back to gameplay, that option is now available. Players will also be able to skip tutorial dialogue, as well as fast-forward through dialogue when in-game.

Another way the team is streamlining this experience is by doing so with item information. The explanation given for collectible items, especially for commonly found things like materials, will only pop up upon that first discovery. This will make it even more time-efficient when focusing on the gaming experience, which pairs nicely with the new autosave feature being implemented.
