Yuji Horii Is Currently Playtesting the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii confirmed that he is currently playtesting the upcoming Dragon Quest III: HD-2D Remake. The game still has no confirmed release date or confirmed release platforms.

Yuji Horii thanked fans for their support and celebrated both the recent launch of the new Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince and the second anniversary of the Japan-only Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi mobile game in a social media post. Additionally, Yuji Horii mentioned staying up to nearly 10pm on the night of October 30, 2023 while playtesting the upcoming Dragon Quest III: HD-2D Remake.

Square Enix revealed the upcoming Dragon Quest III: HD-2D Remake back in May 27, 2021, over 2 years and half ago. During a September 2023 Famitsu interview, Yuji Horii gave an update on the development of the title as well as Dragon Quest XII, and said that development for both games is progressing steadily.

Dragon Quest III: HD-2D Remake in development. There is currently no confirmed release date or confirmed console releases. Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is now available for the Nintendo Switch. A demo for the game is also available.
