Viz Launches New Manga App Service in US and Canada

Viz Manga App

Viz Media launched a new subscription service and app with a video from CEO Ken Sasaki. Called Viz Manga, the service offers access to over 10,000 chapters of manga including works from Rumiko Takahashi and Junji Ito. Certain series will have new chapters made available simultaneously alongside their publication in Japan. A subscription will cost $1.99 a month and is available immediately in the US and Canada. A free trial is also available.

Sasaki cited the success of the Viz's Shonen Jump App for the decision to expand. The Jump app launched four years ago and costs $2.99 a month, but is limited to only titles published under the Shonen Jump label. A Twitter reply from the official Viz account confirms the two apps are separate services and subscriptions.

While subscription to the service is only available through the mobile app, subscribers will be able to access their manga through the Viz website on any other device. More details can be found on the Viz FAQ page.

The Viz Manga service is immediately available via the app on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Availability is limited to the US and Canada. If you're struggling to pick a manga to start you can check out our Horror Recommendations.
