The Suika Game (Watermelon Game) social media account warned users that in late February 2024, it will reset players’ online scores. This only applies to the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

According to Aladdin X, this is due to how the system works on the Nintendo Switch. It did not provide any specific details or further explanations on the matter. It apologizes for the trouble this will cause players, especially those who have very high scores on the online leaderboards. While the online scores will disappear from late February 2024, you will still be able to look at your own personal high scores, since the game saves that data locally.

Suika Game, also known as Watermelon Game, was a viral success in late 2023, accumulating over 2 million downloads within Japan in October 2023. It even topped the Download Ranking for the Switch in December 2023, overtaking Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4. The game’s popularity stems not only from the wide number of streamers playing it, but also due to its fairly easy and addictive gameplay loop. The game was originally a Switch exclusive, though Aladdin X later released an iOS version.

Suika Game is readily available on the Nintendo Switch and iOS devices. The resetting of online high scores will only apply to the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
