Seablip, a Norwegian TRPG, now has a demo available to download via Steam. It is part of the October 2023 Steam Next Fes line-up. The game also has a planned February 2024 release window, with a more detailed release date to appear soon. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

Developer Jardar Solli first unveiled Seablip at TGS 2022. It is a 16-bit 2D game that is reminiscent of Stardew Valley. In it, you are a pirate captain who can explore the vast oceanic world while managing your ship and crew. You can also fight against other enemy pirates, upgrade your ship, look for treasure, and explore the seven seas. You can also relax with some fishing and farming.

So far, the game will only have English support. It does not seem like it will have support for other languages planned in the future, judging by the Kickstarter page. The Kickstarter first appeared in 2020 and it accumulated 184,506 NOK, surpassing its initial goal of 100,000 NOK. However, according to a message that Solli sent to 4Gamer, those funds ran out within a few months. While a demo came out in late September 2023, there are some minor differences and tweaks in the game in the current build. For example, you no longer need to wait the next day for your crew’s health to recover.

Seablip will come out on Windows PC some time in February 2024. The demo is readily available on Steam.
