One Piece Card Game

One Piece tipped its hand, as a new collectible card game based on the popular manga series is in development. According to an announcement released by Shonen Jump, the game doesn't have a formal title yet, but is set to go on sale in July 2022 [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

The One Piece card game will be different from existing One Piece-themed card games like One Piece Kizuna Boost. The URL for the Kizuna Boost official website now redirects to the Japanese official site for the new game. It also appears to be planned for a global release. Shueisha opened official websites for the One Piece card game covering Japan, China, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, North and Latin America, and Europe.

The sites also hosted a teaser video for the project featuring art from the manga. Little information about how the game plays was available, but some of the card designs showed off characters, point values, and art resembling panels, scenes, and even sound effect text from the manga.

Also on the sites are some planned offerings for the One Piece Card Game. On release, four starter decks will be available, with each themed after a pirate crew: The Straw Hats, Worst Generation, Animal Kingdom Pirates, and the Seven Warlords of the Sea are all represented. The Japanese price for each starter deck is 990 Yen (about $9 USD). A 6-card "Romance Dawn" booster pack will cost 198 Yen (about $1.75 USD). Also available on release is a set of special card sleeves, sold in packs of 70. Finally, a new starter deck based on characters from various One Piece feature films is set for an August 2022 release.

The new One Piece card game will go on sale in July 2022.
