New Cardcaptor Sakura Nendoroid Doll in Development

Good Smile Company announced it is working on a new Cardcaptor Sakura Nendoroid Doll. The figure is so early in development that there’s only concept art and no prototype yet.

Here’s the company’s official announcement. It shows Sakura Kinomoto in her school uniform. She’s also holding the Dream Staff. Both that and the uniform style suggest this figure will be based on the later Clear Card arc appearance of the character.

This will be the first Nendoroid Doll figure of the character. Sakura and supporting cast members like Tomoyo appeared as standard Nendoroids, however.

We’ve seen a lot of merchandise based on the series and character lately. That amped up after the 25th anniversary project for the CLAMP manga and anime kicked off. While some of the resulting products like the Furyu and Yoshitoku figure could be expensive, we’ve seen some more reasonable items as well. In fact, Good Smile Company also opened orders for a rerelease of its original Sakura Nendoroid. That can be ordered again until November 30, 2023 ahead of its 2024 rerelease.

The Cardcaptor Sakura Nendoroid Doll is in development, and there’s no release window yet. The manga is handled outside Japan by Kodansha, and the anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.
