Netflix uploaded a new trailer for the Yu Yu Hakusho live-action adaptation. It will exclusively appear on the streaming service from December 14, 2023.

Some characters who appear in the trailer apart from the main four include Toguro (both of them), Botan, Genkai, and Koenma. Considering Karasu and Buu’s appearances, it looks as if the live action adaptation will cover all the way to the end of the Dark Tournament Arc. There are some changes we can see, such as how Genkai becomes Yusuke's teacher. The trailer seems to suggest that Koenma assigns her to him. In the manga and anime, though, Yusuke had to win the right to train with Genkai and Koenma only ordered him to flush out Randou.

Yu Yu Hakusho first came out in 1990 (as the trailer reminds us, it came out about a quarter of a century ago). It ran in Weekly Shonen Jump until 1994, with Studio Pierrot adapting the anime from 1992 to 1994. The series follows Yusuke Urameshi, who is a street delinquent turned into a detective for the Spirit World after he dies saving a young boy from a car. Though the beginning of the manga focuses on him actually solving cases, the anime (and probably the live action) jumps into the more action-focused tournament arcs that make up half of the series.

Yu Yu Hakusho (the live action adaptation) will air on Netflix from December 14, 2023.
