Gamescom 2022 Will Be Both In-Person and Online

When it comes to Gamescom 2022, this year's event will consist of both online and in-person components. People will be able to attend the event at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. However, this year there will still be online elements like in 2020 and 2021. The announcement also included details about COVID-19 on the official website and a Gamescom Goes Green commitment to being environmentally friendly. It will run August 24-28, 2022, with Opening Night Live happening on August 23, 2022.

The COVID portion of the website also noted details about in-person attendance. It confirms that anyone attending an event, like Gamescom 2022, at Koelnmesse will need to show their European Union Digital Covid Certificate proof of vaccination. People who do not have that documentation can show proof of an approved vaccine. The center’s official site also says people can pay to take a COVID-19 test on-site. Venture Beat also noted that fewer in-person tickets will be sold than in previous years.

As for the Gamescom Goes Green elements, there are also details about its measures to reduce CO2 emissions and be environmentally friendly. There will be things like free VRS and DB tickets to travel. There will be a bike program and bike stations.

Gamescom will be held August 24-28, 2022.
